    Default Cocktailing

    Hey ladies,
I was wondering if anyone has ever done cocktail waitressing and what it was like? I think this might be a good way for me to get my food in the door, but is any experience necessary or is a pretty face all you need?

What are you trying to get your foot in the door for? Do you want to be a dancer? If so, just audition! I feel for cocktail waitresses. They have to put up with the same assholes we do, but get paid a lot less. If you're nervous about dancing, don't fret. You'll get over it so quickly.

    Hot Chocolate,
Yes, I have been a cocktail waitress. Emily is
right though. It is a difficult job for less money
in return. If you want to dance, the best way is
just go for it. Most clubs are regularly looking
for dancers and experience helps but it isn't
everything. It is probably going to be easier
to get into if you do dance. If that is what you mean by "getting your foot in the door" try it.
If you don't like it then try the cocktail
    waitressing.
    Good Luck,
    Lexi

I've cocktailed and there were nights when I would leave with more cash than some of the dancers. The difference was, I didn't have to pay to work there, I only had to tipout the bartender, and I got a paycheck in addition to my nightly tips. As a waitress there was usually at least one guy a week who would offer me $100+ to go on stage. If you think you might want to dance but are not sure, I would recommend starting by cocktailing and then with the first $100 offer see if you like the stage.
