    Default Sturgis Dancers

Hi Tina!!! I have a question since you are familiar with the area. A guy who used to own a gentlemens club in Rapid City emailed me about a job working at the sturgis rally as a dancer and taking photos at the Broken Spoke Saloon. He claims the dancers make $1000 a day during bike week. Do you know anything about this. Thanks

I have been to Sturgis every year for the past 10 and I can tell you this: Like many other "Events" ...Sturgis has become very commercial in the last few years. It IS an excellent opportunity for dancers and you can bank a Grand a night ... IF you can get IN to the clubs and get TO the club to work. There are nowdays literally Thousands of Dancers there during the Rally and many of them try to work but keep in mind that CLUB space and accomodations are limited. You can make $20 a shot doing bike pics at some of the campgrounds ect. (The 2 girls that went with me last year did this and had a blast). I take a Motorhome (yes I Wuss out and trailer the bike) and this is the BEST Accomodations you can get anywhere near the events. Let me put it this way ..... You can make good money but its NOT very uhhhh Glamorous. Bikers (and the wanna-be's we have nopwdays) are a pretty rowdy crowd and you may end up sleeping in a TENT ...in the MUD. Good luck if you go and I'll see ya there.

Thanks for the information. What these guys want is someone to work near the Hustler exhibit that is set up at the Broken Spoke and take pics and dance on a stage. This is where they are claiming you make the money. Are working the clubs the best way to go? Thanks

Venecia, I worked the biker rally last year at the Rapid City Gentlemens Club which was inside a motel they owned. I had a room free of charge and worked 6 long days.

First off, Rapid City passed new dance ordinances taking away nudity, requiring 6 inches between the customer on dances and all stage sets are 3 songs long and only one song is topless and all tips must be put in a bucket and we cannot touch the bucket topless.

The only club left in Rapid City is Shotgun Willie's and the business has taken a royal nose dive after the new laws were passed in April.

Secondly, our first day we were taken up to Sturgis to dance on a makeshift stage at a regular bar and that is a total waste of time.Guys at a regular bar will not spend money on you as they do in a strip club. They are not into the strip club scene. Avoid that at all costs. I got about $40 in tips doing that shit (which I hustled for at that) while the girls back at the club enjoyed the best afternoon moneywise of the whole event.i put in about 3-4 hours at the regular bar and then went back to the club where I made about $400 for the rest of the night.

Thirdly about $1000 a night. Bullshit. that figure is making me sick to my stomach now. The clubs are busy and all bikers are not the Hells Angel type, many are just regular guys who ride a bike for a hobby and some go with their wife or girlfriend or in groups.A lot of these guys aren't regular GC frequenters though and not inteerseted in paying for a dance or for company. you have to work through the crowd to get the ones that will buy dances.

The clubs don't have the proper hustle going on to maximize the amount of dances bought and as a result, a lot of the guys are just hanging out in the club with their buddies drinking. Last year we could do good dances and I cleared about $1900 for the week, which for the amount of customers could have been $2900 if the DJ were pushing the dances and running dance specials and hitting the guys up hard to spend money. I even presented the guy running things with a way to shake the guys up into spending more money on dances but he always acted so busy and really was just interested in getting all the money through the door and at the bar that he could.

The amount of dancers wasn't a problem, maybe 20 or so at any given time.

If you want to work I would suggest Dakota Spirit to work at. you can get their info on strip club list.com They are outside the city limits and close to Sturgis and still have a full bar and nudity.

There were 3 clubs in RC last year plus Dakota Spirit. Rapid City GC is not operating now so I hear, and old lady Lovey who owned Lovey's went crazy (mentally crazy really) and shut the club down. The building off I-90 and Elk Vale Rd is still empty.

Is Dan the guy who called you?

I really appreciate all the info. I wanted to make sure it would be worthwhile coming all the way from the east coast and it dosen't sound like it would be. Yea, the guy who contacted me was named Dan Turner and I thought it sounded too good to be true.

I have a cardinal rule about going out of town to dance for one 6 day week.

Don't do it unless it is within a 400-500 mile drive from where you are living.

I never diss a dancer for wanting to try new clubs in other parts of the country. You'll never know if it's good or better than where you are if you don't try.

But, to put a high dollar expectation on a one week booking is 90% certain to cause dissapointment. one week is not enough time working to absorb expenses given the fact that most clubs are not consistently full of good spenders every night you work. My BEST month on the road was a little over $8000 and I still had some under $100 nights and nights in the low hundreds mixed in.

When a poster told me about going to Fargo ND to work I made a one week booking and drove 1300 miles from where I was working to there. I made clear about $1850 for the week, which where I was working would hit in the teens for a couple of weeks and in the $700-$900 range several weeks, and you didn't have to rely on making all of your money off of 2 customers the whole night in Fargo, and they had a controlled amount of girls so it was ok, but a day and a half drive each way and 3 tanks of gas each way wasn't worth it, not for only one week anyway. And working in a town with no transportation if one were to fly sucks, and our net incomes don't allow for rental car fees on top of airfare, so you need your car.

So, I will no longer go on the road for less than 4 weeks in a row because then I have made enough money to justify the trip and have a couple of thousand saved after the bills to bring back home, and I always book clubs which are in the same region or within several hundred miles of each other.

The biker rally in the Rapid City/Sturgis area is viable for a girl who lives in Denver, Seattle or Portland, Boise, Omaha, or Minneapolis or smaller towns in between where they can drive there in one day and if the money isn't overwhelming no big deal, they only spent $60-$70 in gas and came home with more than they had when they went.

For someone like you Venecia, who is traveling from the east coast, the only way you could be assured of making the trip worth while is to work a couple of weekly bookings back to back of the biker rally so that your net earnings would balance out.

How did Dan find out about you if you're from the east coast?
