    Default Movie Recommendations?

Ok I'm taking the day off to do nothing.
    sigh...I've earned it.

I love a good movie, does anyone have any recommendations? I've seen most of the new releases out there.

I love all types of movies, but tend to lean towards movies with independent women in them like the movie Dangerous Beauty, my new favorite!

Just recently rented Roger Doger and Luscious Lola-Red shoe Diaries #14. I did not like these movies, they felt like a waste of valuable time. IMHO

PS Is the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's" any good?

PPS I'll post my movie recommendations once I think of them.

Ever watched Heavenly Creatures? And yes, Breakfast at Tiffany's is good. I'm fond of anything from the '70's with Paul Newman and Robert Redford in it, and of most anything with them alone. Go over to the Internet Movie Database to look for movies.

One of the best movies I have seen was "A walk in the Clouds". I would highly recommend it!

I have to go with Fight Club as an all time favorite.

But I have a feeling you are looking for something a little differerent.

I would suggest 'The Age of Innocence.' It is a period piece with Daniel Day Lewis and Michelle Pfeiffer. Michelle Pfeiffer's character lives a life a little different than most women of her age (1880s to 1900+). It is a slow methodical movie but very well done.

For just a good romance try the French film "The Hairdresser's Wife.' But this is an older grainier movie but very good never-the-less with a somewhat depressing/uplifting ending.

Audrey hepburn and carry Grant make for a good od fashion excellent on-screen chemisry in 'To Catch a Thief.'

You could also try 'The Matrix' or 'The Matrix Reloaded.'

I liked 'Vanilla Sky.' But then, I have a prediliction for movies that seem to bore everyone else! LOL

Memento was highly original and keeps the brain engaged.

LA Confidential has wonderful acting, superlative writing, and is a great period piece.

Casablanca is a cliche, but it's a joy to watch.

One of my favorite Spielberg movies that nobody cared for: Empire of the Sun. Beautiful cinematography.

My favorite sci-fi movie (outside of wonderful memories of the Movie That Changed Everything, Star Wars): Aliens.

If you want a fairly recent, light-hearted, good-natured, little-known pleasant romp, you could try Mumford.

Dogma was a wickedly entertaining mix of homage and irreverence.

Movies with independant women... Girlfight, tho I didn't like it. It got to the end and it was like, what's the point? But it was entertaining.

Mixed Nuts. Christmas. Hilarious. Some interesting people and strong women.

Oh, Tank Girl, that's perfect. She totally kicks ass.

Have you seen Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon the women in the movie are the main heroin’s and is a very good movie. Don’t see the fight club it is really bad.

Road to Perdition, White Oleander, The Hours, & Catch Me If You Can are great new movies out recently on DVD The Hours is very much a women movie.

Heavenly Creatures I have seen twice just saw the last of it first time. While an interesting story it ending is so sad & tragic and shows the girls were quite mentally ill. But so was Joan of Arc so what the heck.

On it’s own Breakfast at Tiffany’s is a wonderful film that has stood the test of time and remains a classic. With Audrey Hepburn, ( a real cuttie ) George Peppard, (who was a cool dude until he did the A-team ) Blake Edwards is an excellent director too. It is a interesting movie with a happy ending but it still is a kind of sad movie until the end.

Have you ever seen an Affair To Remember another 60's film that is one of women's favorite all time films.

    Romantic? Erotic? What????

Some of the most erotic scenes I can recall were in "Crash" with James Spader and Holly Hunter. It's a pretty gory movie, though. I wouldn't recommend you watch it stoned (although, I did......)

For pure, unadulterated suspense (and Michael Douglas), liked "The Game". It may be his best movie.

There's an early 1980's rauch movie called "Blame it on Rio" with Michael Caine and a very young Demi Moore. It's a hoot, plus you get to fantasize about being in Rio.

Speaking of Michael Caine, if you want two hours of total belly laughs, rent "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" with Caine and Steve Martin. It may be the funniest movie EVER.

My all-time favorite, though (and call me crazy) is "George of the Jungle" with Brendan Fraser. It's funny, it's romantic, and it's got Brendan Fraser in a loin cloth.

Dead Man--a Western on acid, with Johnny Depp, and a wide variety of well known actors in bit parts--Michael Wincott is funny as hell, and Billy Bob Thorton turns in one of his finest (if most brief) performances ever. A wonderful, mystical journey, with mythological themes.

U-Turn--One of the best, wierdest, and funniest movies I have ever seen. J. Lo has never been my type, but she is very sexy indeed in this one. Sean Penn reverts to his arrogant punk role, but learns All the Lessons of Karma.

American Beauty--A brilliant satire on the futility and essential meaninglessness of American suburbia. Kevin Spacey is great.

Hey Prester John, I saw Run Lola Run a while ago, it was good--I loved the various twists--and someone told me it was meant to be symbolic of Germany in the post-Cold War era.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen.

I liked the movie, too, but I thought it had to do with the futility of that particular dysfunctional family. I had no idea that everyone who lived in a suburban-style environment led meaningless lives. I guess I'll go kill myself now.

GO - funny, youthful romp about a drug deal told from several angles.

Bound - the Wochaski brothers first critical success. Excellent!!! and sexy sexy sexy

Exotica - lurid story set in and out of strip club in canada explores several people and their motivations. about obsession and not stripping. very very good, not terribly erotic.

Barberella - jane Fonda's first 'fuck off' dad flick!!! fun futuristic romp and with such things as an orgasmitron - how can you go wrong?

there are a lot of good movies out there.
