Default Rock climbing and pole dancing

When I was at the beach I chanced to review my rock climbing skills. Unassisted with tennis shoes on, I climbed up ,over ,around , and down the rock. It's called bouldering in climbers terms.
Has anyone noticed the similarity to pole dancing? It uses all the same muscles. Any rock climbers out there? If you're a dancer you might find this an interesting sport. Take a class and at least use the proper shoes.
You'll probably find yourself well adapted.

Yup taken the rock climbing courses, and frequent a rock climbing gym here in Toronto - I LOVE IT! Combination of adrenaline, fear and accomplishment.

Funky sport, I really enjoy it. Specially cause in other sports.... I run like a girl throw like a girl, but rock climbing? Hell Im right up there, pun intended!

Never explain yourself to anyone, because the person who likes you doesn't need it and the person that dislikes you won't believe it.

Tried it yes, at a gym. They set up a huge wall and wrapped a rope around you. It was ok. I only did it once. Really not my thing.
I did not feel rock climbing, or going up that damn thing even close to pole dancing! pole dancing is much easier!

    There are some similarities...

When i was living at the house with the pole in it, they would sometimes call me Spiderman, because there was a large rock wall, and I would cling to it and go sideways, etc.

Rock climbing takes strong fingers!! And more strength in general, whereas on the pole, leverage counts for much more.

But they definitely share one thing in common!

ATTITUDE. If you believe you can do it, you will.

Sorry about bringing up an ancient post!

I was a rock-climber before I was a pole-dancer, and pretty hardcore one at that. How about 2 weeks climbing in the Alps?
It definitely helped with the upper body strength needed for the pole. Now I've been on the pole for about a year and I've hardly been climbing...
The core strength and flexibility you develop is amazing too. (still can't do the splits though)

The real issue is that you cannot have nails if you want to climb... they will be ruined and you will have to cut them all off anyway! and the shoes are designed to be at least a size too small and bend your foot into an arch position (opposite of heels!) - OUCH. I can't wear mine anymore.
