    Default Are we raping ourselves?

I have tired to help many strippers out. One of them even stole money from when I let her live with me when she had nowhere to go. I'm tired of seeing strippers ruin their lives with drugs and sex. Why do so many of leave strip clubs with nothing to show for it. We need to understand that we are hear to make money for a short period of time get out and move to better things. I think that many of the dancers are to young and make mistakes. I wish more of could understand how one night of fun can ruin our lives

Get my point? Stop stereotyping strippers. It makes me think you have never been one and have no idea what you're talking about....which is probably the case.

i don't see the point in this statement. there are plenty of people out there (stripper or not), that lie, cheat & steal from other people. when you take a person into your home, regardless of whether they are an "evil stripper" or not, you are using your personal judgement to guage whether that person is trustworthy or not. I don't really see someone's occupation as being a contingency on whether they can be trusted. that is a personal issue.

I also don't quite understand the statement about one night of fun ruining a life. fun for us? for the customer? though personally, my club is fun, i'd hardly host my next party at my club - it is a job - and i think that girls realize that, and would give them a tad more credit before generalizing them into a pool of drunken, tweaked, sex-slaves with no way out but down.

Kind of why I think this is a troll who has never been a dancer. Dancers know it's not a lifestyle and that it's just a job (at least for many of us.....those who party all night don't do it because they are dancers but rather because they want to party all night, imo), but people who learned about the professional from movies and TV, don't realize this.

I gotta echo what the other said about anybody (stripper or not) can be a theif or drug abuser.

But how does one ruin their life with sex? Are you talking about prostitution? That is not the same a stripping.

And sex is a good thing.

I guess if your having sex all the time and missing lots of work that would be bad, but that is not usually that big of a problem, and everybody can have that happen, not just strippers?

I'm also confused about your title "raping ourselves". Maybe I'm just confused in general.

I think there are a lot of flakes in stripping though. It's a great job if you're a flake since you're not really expected to be professional as far as showing up on time (or showing up at all!) and how you treat your customers and co-workers.

It's like the dream job for someone that can't hold a job where you might actually get fired if you try to get away witht the stuff dancers can get away with (instead of merely paying a fine, etc.)

That being said, it's not just flakes that are drawn to stripping. it's also a great job for those women who want to make awesome money and have great flexibility (ME!)

    exactly!
granted, there are flakes in any job - it's just that the stripping industry is more lenient with that type of person - because the business, the customers, and the dancers themselves are so transient. It's not like working at Merril Lynch or something - there's really no "company manual" to adhere to, unless it's to look cute and be sexy, haha!

I sort of get the feeling also, that this person is not a dancer. I think that dancers outlook on things is much more broad and realistic about the whole industry as a whole. We have everyone from drug-party girls to Yale graduates at our club!

At ANY job, if you come in addicted to drugs and sex, cannot manage your finances wisely, do not plan for the future you probably will not suceed. How or why should the strip business be any different?
