Default Need help getting started in the biz

Hello again everyone for many many years know I have had thoughts of becoming an entertainer like you all but never gone thru with it because I was too afraid of upsetting my family and being spotted by someone that know's me. Well after losing 8yrs of hard work and left with nothing more then a pot to piss in I have said screw what anyone has to say about me I gotta handle my business. So I'm here know, sometime soon I will like to go audition somewhere here in my town, and before I go out there making an azz out of myself can someone help me out here. Sorry for all the questions

    1. I'm I to old to be getting into the Biz (26.5)?

    2. About how many outfits is sufficient when getting started.?

    3. About how much would I be looking at paying the House Fee, Dj and Bar Mom and what ever else I left out. And how often?

    4. When I audition and do stage dances do my dances have to be like a routine like something choreographed or could it be something made up off the top of my head?

    5. What kind of music do dancers normally dance to?. I listen mostly to R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap, but I can dig just about anything as long as it has a nice dance beat to it.

    6. As a rookie dancer how could I expect to be treated by other dancers.

    7. I have a boyish built, shaped sorta like an ironing board :-/ (yeah flat with a little bit of boobs)I'm 5'8 145 pounds I am pretty skinny and my butt is not all that big is there anything I could do to make my body appear to be more shapely?

    8. What are the best ways to make the max amount of money in one night.

Thanks in advance for answering my questions.

I would start off by going into the club you want to work at and check things out. House fees and tipping vary. Most of the time girls will treat you just fine if they talk to you all (some will some wont)
Dance to what you are comfortable performing to.
Outfits, start with 2 and a clear pair of shoes(they go with verything) You will build up your dance wardrobe quickly. As for what makes you look more shaply, your outfits will help with that. Stairmachine will build muscle on your backside too.

Like I said go in and watch the girls, ask questions. Tip them for their time. Practice a little at home before you audition. Its not really choreographed (at least not for me)

And no you are not too old. Im going to be 27 in August and Im going back after a year off. I look young for my age though, most people think Im 20-22.

As for $$. Never spend too much time with one customer if all they wanna do is talk, ditch em. 10 min max.
    Good luck. Have fun.

I agree with Amaya. You are definitely not too old, and like many of us have said several times, because of your age you have an advantage over some of the really young girls. Many of the older customers (the ones who usually spend to most money) like a more mature girl who has some experience in life and can converse on a level closer to them. Many also don't like to spend time with the really young girls because it makes them feel like pedos, and some of the young guys like the 'older chic' fantasy.

Go into some of the clubs in your area and just check them out. If you have a male friend you'd be comfortable going with, you could go as customers and scope things out before having to talk with managers who will automatically start telling you why their club is best. If you don't have a male friend to go with you, just call up some clubs and tell them you're interested in dancing and you'd like info on auditions and whatnot. They'll tell you when to come in. When you go, be dressed nice, hair and makeup done, in an outift that is sexy but not over the top slutty. Ask about house fees and tipouts.

At 5'8 you have the advantage of being tall which will get you attention from customers. You don't have to have big boobs or butt to make money in this - many guys like your build, and again, your height gives you an advantage.

Outfits - if you have a male friend you're comfortable with in this situation, take him shopping for outfits. Get him to tell you what looks best on you. You can get outfit ideas from watching the dancers when you go to check out the clubs, and you can tip a girl whose outfit you like a few dollars, and ask where she gets her stuff.

If you go in as a customer first, some of the girls will ignore you because they are uncomfortable with female customers, but some may approach you asking for dances. If that happens, tell them you're thinking of dancing and if they're nice they'll give you some tips.

Club house fees vary widely. Some clubs charge nothing and actually pay the dancers (very few), some charge small fees from $10-$40, some charge up to $300 (very few). Most fall in the $10-$60 range. Some may also charge a commission on dances you sell. Tipouts to managers, bouncers, barstaff, housemoms, etc vary. Ask people at the club - it's different everywhere. You're not expected to know all this as a newbie. After you start working, you can ask the more friendly dancers about things like tipouts and selling dances. You'll pick up most things on your own by watching others and trial and error.

For your audition, some clubs will want you to audition on a side stage for a song in front of the manager, some have amateur nights, some will just look at you. If you have to dance or do an amateur night, they know you are a newbie so won't expect you to be a great dancer. You can practice at home with music you like in front of a mirror to get ideas and to get comfortable dancing in the high heels.

Making the most money - you'll learn that with experience, but a good thing to keep in mind is not only to avoid sitting with guys who aren't paying or buying dances for too long, but also don't take 'no' personally and never stop approaching customers. For every yes you'll get several no's. Remember when a guy tells you no for a dance it's nothing personal or negative about you and there will be someone else in the room who will say yes if you just ask. What we do is sales and it isn't easy, but it can be very fun!

Do what you're comfortable with. Some people will try to take advantage of you being new - just don't let them. Some girls will be nice to you and some will be mean. Some will ignore you. Don't worry about any of it. Just go to work and do your thing, try not to step on anyone's toes or piss anyone off and forget the rest.

Finally, when you get started and start making more money than you ever have before, put some of it away in a savings account and don't touch it. You've been survivng for years on less than what you'll make dancing, so save some of your money for when you can't or don't want to dance anymore. The last thing you'll want is to dance for years, make a ton of cash and have nothing to show for it and be unable to get a decent job, and unable to make the bucks dancing anymore. Treat yourself with some of the cash, but save some of it too.

Good luck sweetie! If you post what area you're in, someone here may be able to point you to better clubs in the area and give you specific info about what they're like.

Thank you Amaya & Bridgette for your quick and great advice. After reading you all's post I'm super amp'd up. All man it's crazy all I keep doing is imagining myself giving somebody a lap dance and spending unearned money already. I live in Pittsburgh PA we don't got alot going on over here. Lately I have been thinking about relocating to Atlanta and from what I hear Atlanta is the spot I want to be in. So maybe if I do find a little sumthing sumthing here and enjoy it I just might go on ahead and save up and relocate.
