I currently have a spinning stainless steel pole and due to the constant nagging of the girl's I'm going to purchase a stationary brass one to put .... gawd know's where. Seem's they slide ( can't grip ) the stainless steel one and because it spin's they don't have the control for some of the trick's they want to try to do. The place is starting to look like a jungle gym though :-/

My already considerable esteem for Crazybob has been increased by this latest gesture of consideration for his employees.

Exactly why this is so I cannot answer, since I am not a metallurgist, but brass is a much better material for poles than stainless steel. The first time I tried what should have been safe and simple on a stainless steel pole, I nearly cracked my skull.

The spinning can throw you off at first, but can be useful, once you get used to it.

This might be a good time to ask again if anyone out there has seen the pole tricks done by those Circe du Soliel performers? I have heard that they are phenomenal.

I actually prefer spinning poles. Not super spinny with that platform on the botton cuz godness I swear if u are spinning out of control on mainstage who do u call? I had to stand still and just do stretching moves until I stopped. I was convinced if I put my foot on the floor b/4 it stopped that everybody in Hustler Club was gonna see blood. Scary!
I have only worked at one club that had those with platforms at the bottom. However, at one club the pole was a little loose so it spun just enough and we all grew to appreciate it. One day the manager goes I guess I should fix that loose pole and everyone in the dressing room gave him a resounding hell no! He goes okay I won't fix it then.

Yup. I think they're Chinese acrobats. 84 bucks a pop for tickets to see Mystere` in Vegas. There's lots more than just the pole tricks, of course. Took six people with me. Everyone felt it was worth every penny for that show.

    This may sound strange,
spinning poles are fun and much more easy to work. But as you use them, they become too easy for spinning to the floor moves. And hanging from a spinning pole upside down can a problem. They are made to pretty much move every time you work it (duh). And they can get annoying. It's like stop friggin moving already!!!
I have found i love poles that do both, and it would be a great benefit if clubs had both kind on stage. Because on a stationary pole you can do moves that you can't on a spinning pole. Spinning poles grab attention, when you hang and start swinging the pole, swing around and your hair moves and it's really less work.
Stationary you don't have to worry about the pole moving when you want to do upside down moves that may make you fall. Gosh i know about that shit.
One club the damn pole was too big around. Don't know where it came from. But everyones hands are not the same when it comes to gripping. And some can't spin upside down, dizzy! Spinning poles are about using your body weight to move the direction you want while on it, it does not always happen that way.
It's all about adjusting. Spinning looks cool, harder to operate major tricks. Stationary is much harder for alot, but less worry of getting dizzy, or having it move while you want to open your legs towards the crowd.... not with your back to them, because the damn thing is still moving. Pros and cons to both. They both are fun, and can be very simple to ride!

Why not keep the steel one and ADD a stationary brass one?

I'd prefer a stationary one. Of course it's easier to do spins on a spinning one but once started it's hard to control the speed. Nothing worse than coming off a pole feeling like a drunk.
If you can do a move on a stationary pole then you know you can do it on a spinning one and it leaves you in more control.
