    Default Amature Night

I recently went down to de ja vu and entered myself into amature night. I was nervous about stripping but I got up on stage and danced my butt off. I got the crowd going and when I finished I made close to $20 in tips. Guys even came up to me and asked me for lap dances. The other girls that were in the contest get the response like I did and get that much $ in tips....but I ended up loosing the contest....I am so confused what went wrong...help!! I want to dance but now I dont think I have what it takes!!

Girl yes u do, if u got guys to already ask u for lap dances then ur a great start. Maybe u should look into other clubs that don't have amateur night and instead give auditions. Keep trying and doing what ur doing, Im sure next time the club will remember u and see ur eager to work.

Don't get discouraged sweetie! You obviously did a great job if guys were asking for dances! It was probably some silly reason why you didn't win, so try not to take it too personally!

Don't feel bad at all, to be honest, MANY amateur contests are fixed. I'm sure you did great. Don't let not winning discourage you. Here's an excerpt from our "Pageants and Contests" article.

"Indeed, most "amateur" contestants are experienced dancers, so girls who are totally new to dancing should not expect too much when entering. Its certainly possible to win an amateur contest if you really are an amateur, but usually the top prize goes to a waitress from the home club making her dancing debut, or to an experienced dancer from a smaller club."
We all imagine ourselves the agents of our destiny, capable of determining our own fate. But have we truly any choice in when we rise, or when we fall, or does a force larger than ourselves bid us our direction. Is it evolution that takes us by the hand, does Science point our way, or is it God who intervenes keeping us safe.

So much struggle for meaning, for purpose. And in the end, we find it only in each other. Our shared experience of the fantastic. And the mundane. The simple human need to find a kindred, to connect. And to know in our hearts... that we are not alone.

    NOTHING went wrong!

First, how was the contest judged? The only one I've ever done (at the old Tiffany's in Phoenix, now Christies) was by audience applause. You can make a HUGE living in this business by singling out and making great eye contact with just a few high-rollers. That won't make you popular with the frat-boys who hang out at amateur nights, but WILL help you when it's time to make the down payment on a Lexus.

Frat boys are usually good for applause and hoots and wolf-whistles, but are good for about $1 in tips each per night. On the other hand, one good middle aged business man who's out of town on a business trip and has a Visa Gold Card in his wallet can keep you occupied for an entire shift.

Oh, and I don't mean to pick on frat boys. I would include in that definition anyone wearing a shirt with his name embroidered over the pocket, anyone wearing a baseball cap, or anyone smoking unfiltered camels.

    LOL...

The contest was judged on the amount of applause each girl got. At the end...after every girl completed her dance we all got on stage and each of us was called out one at a time and we were judged on the amount of applause we got....not by the amount of applause that we got during our dance...which I thought was no fare ....even the dancers that were working got to applause/vote....which was also no fare The girl who won the contest was the only one offered a job....the ones that lost have to go and see the owner.

alot of clubs use amature night as a gimmik to get customers in the place. alot of times these girls will not be amatures but girls from other clubs or even new girls at that club. dont take it personally go back and work it!!! go back and say hey i was popular that night hire me!! good luck..
    As quoted by Luckyone:
I asked directions from a genie in a bottle of jim beam and she lied to me.

Did you expect to win the first time you attempt anything new? I'd say you really did well for your first time! Did you think champions have never lost? Think again.
Winning takes practice. When you fall down get up and start over only learn why you fell in the first place.

Go back to the owner then! Strip clubs have nothing to lose and a lot to gain by having you there. The more dancers then better fot them. Go see him and I'll bet you get offered a job
It's better to be looked over, than overlooked.
