I just have a quick shoe question....Im buying my first pair and I was wondering if it is better to go with ankle straps or just the general slide style. Is any specific style easier to dance in and keep your balance?
ThanksRoxie

I think you should go with what LOOKS sexier-a nice open toed platform with a strap is sexy-I don't like those clear plastic heels that porn girls and many dancers wearI just have a quick shoe question....Im buying my first pair and I was wondering if it is better to go with ankle straps or just the general slide style. guess who's back? back again
I prefer shoes with straps. I have seen other girls whose shoes came flying off (and sometimes hitting customers) during their set. With the stap, you can feel safe that they're not going anywhere, and you can maybe get into it more.
I prefer slide-in type of shoes. I have never worn any with an ankle-strap. But the others are right. Shoes can come off. especially if you are nervous and your feet are sweaty. Make sure the ones you buy have that suade type of material in them, nothing metallic or shiny. This just makes them more slippery.
It's better to be looked over, than overlooked.
For a beginning stripper, I'd reccommend something with an ankle strap. Before I started dancing I'd wear 4 inch heels, no problem, but when you're dancing and slide to your back, then you roll over and stand up, then crouch down and slide on your belly... well, it's different than just going to a club with heels on. The straps, to me, add some stability, and you don't have to worry about your shoes coming off when your feet get sweaty. The ankle strap helps with the adjustment of wearing 4 inch heels with a 2 inch platform. That platform makes a lot of difference. (I'm currently trying to work myself into a pair of 8 inchers, possibly in vain.) I have two pairs of the exact same shoe: one with an ankle strap and one without. I find the pair w/ strap is waaaaay more comfortable b/c my feet have begun to slide down too far in the pair w/o strap.

Go with the ankle strap. Not only does it keep your shoes on, but helps keep your feet from sliding down in the shoes as far, keeps your feet from sliding too much side to side, and makes you a little more stable in the shoes, especially as a newbie.
Btw, I love the name Roxie/Roxy! My 5-year-old cat is named Roxy. And good luck with your new shoes and job!
Yup - straps.

Never explain yourself to anyone, because the person who likes you doesn't need it and the person that dislikes you won't believe it.
Oh yes! you need the straps to help your footing, until you are sure of all the dance moves you are going to learn.
I have seen women fall out of shoes with no support. At least until you get the feel for different types of shoes.
Any new dancer should start with straps. They help support the ankle, and are not going to come off. Get good leather, so you don't have to fight the sweating underneath the strap and make it feel loose. Do make it firm, but not too tight, if you know what i mean.
