I'm writing a paper for my Social Institutions class comparing the sex industry in America, Japan, and 16th century France. There aren't a lot of books or research out there that is actually "real." (Ie, Skipper interviewing a half naked stripper in the dressing room, writing about being sooo distracted by her nudity that he could barely form questions, then going on to focus almost solely on her sexual deviance - that is not sound research.). So, I thought I'd create my own.
If you have been dancing for more than three years OR if you think of dancing as a career choice, I'd appreciate your thoughts on the following questions (Melonie, Bridgette, Pamela, this means youand Djoser, I'm sure you have something brilliant to say too, so throw it in ;-))
Please include your stage name or the name you want me to use for you in the paper (and anonymous is always an option), how long you've been dancing, and what state's you've danced in.
What made you decide to start dancing?
What skills do you consider necessary for success as a dancer?
How did you learn those skills?
What do you feel like you sell to your customers?
Why do you think men come to strip clubs?
What need do you think that strip clubs fulfill in our society?
Has stripping changed the way you relate to your families/freinds? If so, how?
Has stripping changed the way you relate to men outside of work? If so, how?
Has stripping changed the way you relate to society as a whole? If so, how?
