    Default Tipping a Manager?

Hi I have a question about tipping a manager. At my club (as far as I know) it's not done. We are required to tip out the DJ and security only. However; this past Saturday night, my manager referred me to two guys, of which I made over $250 off of just these two.

Now I wanted to tip him for the recommendations, but I didn't because I wasn't sure if I'd be out of line. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

ask another girl or the housemom. There are clubs where tipping the manager is not required. It IS in mine and I suspect that his tips also take care of the employees who are NOT tipped by the dancer. (we tip only mgr., dj, and doorman)

I actually asked this question a while back, and the general consensus was that it is proper etiquette to tip ANYONE who directs you to money, including the manager. I was confused about this because it was required that you give the manager $25 each night for the floor fee. When I first started working the manager did introduce me to one of the big spenders who frequented the club, and usually told me who to go to, to make money. I am pretty sure that no other girl tipped him out, and now I kind of wish I did. I think 10% of what you made because of him is a good amount.

Thanks for bumping (I sure as hell couldn't find it) but just to clarify...your floor fee/stage fee is typically the OWNER's money...not the manager's.

(Edited to say that this is referring to the referral of the 2 guys that he referred you for the 250, not his services in general. As a non-stripper, I have no idea of what the industry customs are)

Like any walk of life, if you deliver a % back to the source, s/he will provide more income for you in the long run ethics aside.

Ethically, it is an easy call, because (unless it is forced or customary) it is ultimately your decision. I feel that because you are asking this on the board you should tip him/her out, because if noy you'll feel uncomfortable about it.

At least thank him/her and hand them whatever amount you desire ( I think since this is more of a referral/finders fee than a 'service tip' (which should normally run from 15-30% imo) that a 1% finders fee may be appropriate. IF you'd like say "I din't know what to give you to show my appreciation, please tell me if you think its fair.

    my 2 cents
They say there's a Heaven for those who await.
Some say it's better but I say it ain't.
I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints...
the sinners have much more fun.

I will tip any staff member of the club who sends a customer my way! They always send me good ones.
It just comes back at ya. And that includes the manager. Many customers have been pointed my way from managers. Yes, i tip they keep sending.

tipping the manager is a good idea....they do play favorites....mine occasionally "forget" my fees and fines too, as I do tip.

But yes, tip anyone that helps you make money. I tipped the shot girl once for getting me a lap dance customer.

Have you thought about asking the other girls what they do? When I first start at a new club I ask a few girls so as to get a sample idea of what they tip, if it's required, or what they tip for, if it's not.
As far as being directed to spenders, we do tip out management, but my feeling on this is to tip him, the waitress or the floorguy, whoever sent you over there, 10-15% of what you get from them. If another dancer brings me to a table, I return the favor when a table asks me to bring over some friends.
Another note - I don't always tip hugely on the busy nights when there are a lot of girls working, but I do tip well when there aren't as many girls, because I know that it makes a bigger difference in the DJ and manager's money when they only have 15-20 girls to collect tipout from.

I think that tipping a bartender, shot girl, Dj, door man, bouncer, hell even another dancer, for turning you onto a money man is good politic's " greasing the wheel's of progress " so to say. I also feel the Manager has an ethical responsibility to not accept tip's from staff as in the fact that manager's have a responsibility to the owner's and the staff to be fair to everyone. Beside's it's as much his job to see that the customer's have a good time as it is that the girl's make good money. Although most manager's probably won't agree with me, I'm kinda on the other end of the table. The "tip" he get's for the the tip's he give's girl's, is and should be the respect he get's from them for looking out for there best interest. Maybe a hug and a thank you is in order or pay for his breakfast after work if you guy's all go out together after work.

Keep in mind though, there are clubs where tipping a manager is against policy and when one person starts, it kinda sets the precedence for everyone else. I'd definately ask another girl or the housemom.

AT the club where I work at are requirred to pay tips that goes to the managers. Whenever we pay our tip outs, some of that money will go to the managers. They had changed it a while back because they said it's a appericatin of managers doing their jobs as a manager and with dancers. So far we dancers dont have any complaints and mangers do get chuck of cash depending on how many dancers show up to work lol.
