    Default Newbie Starting Out

Well I have made the decision to go to a local club for amateur night on the 18th. If they like me I have a real good chance at a job. Only problem is I don't have a clue what I'm doing. I've never been much of a girlie girl and never thought myself to be sexy. I am also very shy. That being my resons behind doing this. I want to be more outgoing and find that sexy woman within. I know anyone getting up for the first time faces a lot of the same feelings but I am also a little heavy. Now most of the girls at this club tend the be of the more curvy type anyways but I'm still bigger than the majority of them. I plan to try and get some pictures uploaded and any construtive critacism would be apreciated. Also any tips for facing the stage for the first time would be a big help too. Thanks!

    Hey Scarlet!

Go for it girl! I am just like ya, babe. I am on the quiet side of things too, and everyone tells me that this does "bring you out" a bit. LOL My prob was that I am heavy on the thighs, I am smaller up top then bottom. When the mgr spoke with me, he told me to tone up on that section, and also dancing would tone it up anyhow. I didn't know how to dance when I went up on stage. Just move slow, I got nervous when the 3rd song came in the set and started rushing. I'll concentrate on how the other dancers move on stage next time. The Mgr. brought me a cocktail which helped ALOT.

I am wishing you all the best, this web-site is really honest and informative. My first actual work shift is this evening, and I think it will be hilarious, if it was anything like the audition. Man, it sure ain't easy being new. Try tae-bo, it helped my thigh area a great deal, and maybe it will continue to get rid of my extra stuff!

    good luck!

Saw your pics, scarlet. Try a new hairstyle, keep it very short. Lose 10 pounds, too. Only then I feel you have a chance. Good luck.

Scarlet: Since you asked for constructive criticism, I will be honest. I think Carlos was being nice when he said 10 lbs. Your pictures are dark and it's hard to tell, but you probably need to lose more. Aside from that, you seem very reserved in your pictures. It's hard enough to make money dancing when you're one of the heavier dancers, but you've got to be comfortable naked.

One thing to keep in mind is getting hired and making money are two totally different things. Getting hired may mean you are granted the luxury of paying a house fee. Yay! You will be competing for the same guys against dancers who will be in better shape and have more self-confidence.

If any of this sounds discouraging, I'm sorry, but I'm a lot nicer than all your co-workers and customers will be if you do get hired.

Definitely tone up. Maybe get a makeover, some dancewear and shoes as well.

There is no harm in amateur night though. You will be nervous. Two big tips I can give you if you go are: don't drink (I've seen dancers who never overcome stagefright and must have a few drinks before every shift) and move slowly.

I admit i love her hair! Long. Maybe add sexy parts through them, you know like the zig zag parts they are doing now, to add some umph!

And yes toning, would be great for you! Look up toning on the computer and go to it!!!! You should be fine. Your pretty, and if you can move fairly fast on stage, you have a better chance.
But i would go with the toning of the body first.

Thanks you all for your comments. I know I need to tone up some and one of the reasons I am reserved about being naked. I have just started a workout routine and doing it 6 days a week. I just know it's going to take some time to get to where I want to be.
And thanks Pamela, I love my hair long too. Benn growing it out for 2 years since I had it cut off about chin length for most of my life. It does need a new style though. I wanted to get the length before someone goes chopping on it!!! :o lol
I guess maybe I'll put things on hold for a bit. Will try posting new pics when I've firmed up a bit. I asked for this and I thank you all for your honesty. I'd rather hear it here than get up naked in front of a buch of men and make a total boob of myself.lol
    Thanks again

    Scarlet,

Honestly, the way you look now, you wouldn't get hired at a lot of clubs that I know of. You need to tone up and lose weight. It's hard to tell from your pictures but I would say you need to lose about 20 pounds. Eat a balanced diet and work out 4-5 times a week. There are plenty of girls who have slim, toned bodies who are willing to dance, and this means that club owners can be picky about who they decide to hire. It's better to wait to audition and get in the absolute best shape that you can than to try out now and not get hired or to get hired and make crappy money. Other dancers and customers can be very cruel sometimes and I'm sure you wouldn't want to be insulted every day at work. Sorry if I come across as being rude, I'm just trying to be honest. Good luck to you.

    Hi Scarlet,

I love your hair :-) You do need to lose weight, but (depending on what part of the country you're in) there probably are clubs that will hire you. But then those clubs are probably not the places that you want to work :-(

It looks like you have a very pretty face, you should do well once you tone up a little, if you can be outgoing.

    Lena

PS, while you're losing weight, make sure you wear a push up bra or a tight sports bra all the time so you don't end up with flappy boobs
