    Default Newbie questions, help please?

I'm going to start working in one of the Pure Gold clubs of NC. I worked for a club in FL for a week (my now ex-bf didn't know, and when he found out...you know) the laws are VERY different here, the clubs if very different, and I'm a little apprehensive.
I don't know how to do any pole work, my other club didn't have poles, and we had to wear gowns...this club doesn't require that.

Help me, I don't know what to wear, I didn't know I had to to an audition. I'm not even sure the questions I should be asking. Any help is appreciated.
I've never had false nails....all these girls seem to have them, should I?
I have tattoo's, my old club made us cover them. Should I purchase the make-up to do that here, or is it ok?

I used to rely on the house mom for all my make-up and hair, but honestly, (not that I'm ungrateful, but I'm here to make money) I was paying her too much and she did up everyone the same. I don't even know if this club has someone to do that, but I'd rather do it myself.
Any tips? Lip colors/eye colors? Clothing colors I should wear? Should I wear my hair curly (natural) or straighten it?

I know I should probably go to the club and ask these things to the girls, except, I felt a little taken advantage of before because I was new. I'm asking here since your not my competition and you're not going to give me bad advice. (I hope )

    Thanks in advance,
    Heather

    Hey Little One-
First of all, you're going to get great advice from the girls on here - everyone's helpful, honest, and fab as can be

Every club in every state is different, and my experience has only been with gown clubs, so maybe some of the other girls can help you with that info...

As for false nails- I don't have them, and I don't think they are necessary - but I do think it's important to have a good manicure/pedicure- you'd be surprised at what guys notice...but if you're not into false nails, don't feel pressured into getting them. I've never worn them, and years of piano has turned that into a habit of keeping them fairly short...but always manicured!

For the makeup part - it totally depends on what look you're going for - young, Pam Anderson, goth....and depends on your coloring - so that's a hard one. Also, it depends on the lighting in your club. My club is pretty dark, so I wear more makeup - keeping my eyes smoky and alternating lip colors depending on my mood/dress. And in dress, I've always thought that a girl's dress reflect her personality...and mood.

    good luck!

Hi...here are some thoughts on your questions:

Costumes- wear something that stands out. Whether this be bright colors, a unique design, etc, it will be more enticing to the men. Don't just wear a bikini. Also make sure the costume is fairly easy to take on and off. I think sparkly outfits and bright colors are always a good idea, especially since the lights in clubs are so dark. Even if you are talking to a customer at the time, other men will look at your outfit if it's eye-catching.

Nails- I have acrylics done because I like the look of long nails. But if you aren't comfortable with them, don't get them. Just make sure your nails are manicured and the polish isn't chipped. I do my own pedicures, but feet are also very important. I have had one guy who paid me lap dance prices just to play with my feet. Weird I know, but there are all types out there! Men do notice these things though, I get lots of comments on mine because I make sur emy nails and feet are well done.

Makeup/Hair- My club is fairly dark as well, so I always use false eyelashes and a little bit of black liquid liner to make my eyes stand out. I also use light shimmery powder in the inner corner of my eye and on my brow bone. This really helps to open up your eyes. I also use a small amount of shimmer powder on my cheekbones. Do not wear body glitter or shimmer powder on your body though! It will rub off on the men when you are giving dances and neither the man nor his wife will be very happy! As for your hair, let it go curly. My hair ha sa little bit of a wave to it, and I blowdry it, but I love curly hair. And the fact that most girls tend to have straight hair will make you all the more attractive!

Good luck to you hun, hope some of this helps!

    Hi LittleOne!

I've danced for almost 6 years and booked girls for year too. From all I have noticed,

1.) A clean, classy, sexy outfit. Something that is unusual and easy to get out of (For example, while PVC pants are sexy, they are not easy to take off without zippers on the side--lol). I've always thought that red is beautiful. I want to also say that there is a difference between streetwalker sexy and sexy. Everybody has their own style.

2.) High heels are ALWAYS great, because boots are very sexy but they do hide your legs. I like to think of boots as a once in awhile accent. I was also talking to a group of guys over the weekend who say they disslike boots because they are intimidating. But than there are also guys who ONLY like boots. You have to pay attention to the clientele and what kind of clinetele you want to attract.

3.) Hair and makeup are essential. You can go for the "natural" type look BUT I personally like to seperate my work look so that I am less recognizable. I have had people recognize me WAY too much. Especially out of the magazines. I ALWAYS wear false eyelashes and light eye make up. I would also suggest an unobtrusive necklace. I always get far more compliments when I am wearing a sparkly necklace with my outfits.

4.) Some women have a trademark that makes them easily recognizable. A girl I work with always wears a beret. One girl wears sparkle eyeshadow. Another girl does burlesque shows while another does very gymnastic style shows. Personally, I am mostly known for being the dark-haired Jewish girl next door with the huge knockers. lol

    Good luck,

When i was a newbie i had to go with "tear away clothing" They rock! And soo easy to get out of, even on a pole.

Now for the colour, some guys are attracted to power colours..Meaning solids, not pastels. Pastels are pretty but if you want to make a long lasting impression on your first night don't worry. You will be judged within 15 seconds of your looks anyway.

Red is HOT, it screams sex, raises blood pressure etc.. Black is a very powerful colour that says " i am not afraid to do for you". I now migrate towards alot of different colours, being with lots of regulars now.
Starting out you can not beat tear away clothing! Sexy heels, not platforms. And a power colour. Hair long flowing. It is sexy! Lips are sexy, play them up. (the ones on your face). Eyeshadow, is fine. But some guys are not into the whole "doll" look if you know what i mean. Look natural, but extremely sexy. You will pull it off. You are showing your confidence!
PS straight hair is sexy for swinging! Black outfit, burgandy lips. red outfit, off red colour. Don't match them up completely. Nails, what ever you prefer. I keep mine filed and natural.
    Luck..Pamela

Thanks everyone for all the help. I'm glad to hear all the positive attitudes.
    An update-
I went today and had a manicure and a pedicure, I decided against the false nails, I do alot of car work (I'm a 3000gt junkie ) so I don't think they'd be practical, plus I don't like maintaining things like that.
I'm leaving my hair natural. Once again, low maintance. If I couldn't spend the time one day (it takes me almost three hours to straighten) I'd look completely different. Never a good thing.
My dresses are all black. One is black with white accents and straps, one is black with rinestones along the neckline (my FAV) and one is very plain and simple. right now I'll stick with that. I'd like something white, but I haven't found "the perfect outfit" yet. Until I start making money I'm a little broke.
I've got a pair of white bottoms and a pair of black ones, also matching garters. My shoes are 6.5" clear plastic the straps are glittery, which seems to be coming off. I don't like that, I'm going to see if it'll all come off beofre starting. A friend gave them to me, they no longer fit her. Shoes are so expensive, so I don't think I'll be replacing them right now, but they are god awful to try to walk in. I've been wearing them around the house to get used to it. Right now, I don't see how I could dance, I can barely walk! I have to make some money before getting new ones.
Any recommendations on a good height shoe? I'm barely 5'4 barefoot, are shorter ones too short? Will I get used to these, I've only wore them an hour or so.

Get some shoes that are 6 inches. That is what most girls wear, although many go higher! You will get used to them, don't worry. I wore mine around for a week in my apartment. Doing laundry, homework, everything...pretty soon you will be a natural.

There are some really good websites for dancer shoes and costumes on www.sunsetstrip.com
You can get really good deals if you look around. I would suggest some clear platform shoes with the clear straps. They go with everything.

Being 5'4 i agree with Jayln 6" would make you look tall and leggy! If the shoes are a light colour, you will look even more leggy. Because light shoes go along with our skin tone closely, so you have the illusion from far away as being more leg then shoe!

Start 6" so you don't hurt yourself. Do things in them around the house. I used to twirl slowly around the back on one of my heavy chairs holding on to the top for leverage. It gets fun. Then i invested in a huge mirror, to watch myself move.
Black dress with rinestones sounds classy and sexy!
    Good luck, Pamela

All of the advise here is great, but I just wanted to add that not to worry about doing pole work. I've never been much of a pole girl, and I think that gets the guys attention, because I keep moving without doing pole tricks.

Your long gowns should be fine in any club. When you go the other way (show up with only bikinis in a gown club) that you run into problems. Smile, make eye contact, don't move too fast (they want to see you after all), and concentrate on being sensual and sexy while on stage. Protect you knees, as you will be getting on the floor a lot until you learn how to move better in the high shoes.

Oh, about the nails... I wear those one day press on style at work right now. The reason is because I am doing construction work during the day, and my nails are a mess. I can usually get two wearings out of a package, and you just soak your hand in warm water after work to slip the fake nails off. You can buy them at Wal-Mart for around $5, so this is also a cheap option to have cute nails. After my house is built I will probably go back to the more permanent style.

About the tattoos, the makeup lady, and stuff, they will let you know the rules regarding these things when you get to work on your first day. Don't sweat it, you'll do great!!
