Default So I bucked up and went to amateur night...

And I got second place! I couldn't help but get mad with the other girls though... the girl that won first was not only a professional stripper from another club nearby, but she also flashed the audience during the rating scale reading (which you arent supposed to do... she was the last one up for the scale, and the flashing made the guys twice as loud). Well nothing you can do about that I guess. On a side note, I did get a job there. I met a really nice girl (amateur) who is going to be a fantasy girl at the club, and we're going to hang out (it will be nice to know someone!). All in all it was a good time, and I'm qualified for the finals later this month! : )

I'd like to thank all of you for your support and advice. I couldn't have done it without you. I used the stage name "Sin" by the way.

If this makes you feel any better, many of these contests are rigged--DJs also have tricks to make the guys cheer louder. Sometimes the girls are promised a win to get them to show so the contest will at least have a guaranteed contender (in case no one good shows up) Spring Break contests are very often rigged this way.

If you had broken the rule, you probably would have won. I have seen the "loudness meter" rating give the unexpected girl the win for such an action, causing the DJ embarassment, and the supposed winner to get all pissed off. But the Spring Break crowds can be very volatile, and having 2000 guys chanting a girl's name because she just flashed is impossible to ignore. They can and will start a damned riot.

To have done so well against professionals, breaking the rules, means you are the real winner. Fuck the prize money, and the empty title. I have made a lot of money--over 2000$--with Halloween costume contests. It doesn't take long to see how arbitrary the "win" is. You got it over with, too, so now you can start dancing, which is what you've been wanting to do all along.

OK, two QUICK points. Don't let some other girl "breaking the rules" get you down. It's gonna happen. Some regular who you think of as YOUR regular customer will suddenly have the new girl in his lap one night. The DJ who promised you the SPECIFIC songs you picked out for your stage sets will suddenly play something you DIDN'T pick out cuz one of his FAV dancers in in the VIP room and she wants to milk a deep-pocket customer for an extra tip.

And don't EVEN think about leaving your cigs on a dressing table. Cigarettes in the dressing room are officially public property. Ditto tampons.

All that said, if you watch yourself, you can make some GREAT friends and some great money. Be careful, and don't let the occasional bastard get to you!

I agree with Susan and the others. You obviously did a good job and the other pro cheating to win is just a typical day at the office. Girls will cheat, lie and steal sometimes. The good thing is you already know this and don't have to go through the trouble of learning the hard way like most of us did - that means you have an advantage. Also, the fact that you got second only to a cheater proves that you most likely would have won on a fair scale - so you're very good and will do well in this business.

    Great job and congrats!

Thank you everyone. I can use all the advice I can get and more! I'm so nervous, but excited. Mainly I just need to get over some major self esteem issues. I'm a little bipolar, so I have my ups and downs (and choose to go unmedicated), so that doesn't help. It really helps when you push yourself past what your whole mind and body says you cannot do, and you do it anyway, and there are actually people cheering you on. Routine is comfort, so I feel better knowing things may get hard at first, but will get better after time (or I'll be used to it by then lol).

I'm hoping this will be a good change in my life. I want to use the money mostly for my daughter. Put some stability in her life by puting some in mine. Hopefully I won't spend 90% of the money I make (argg I have a problem with that hehe).

Congratulations! Good luck in all that you do! And if you think about the bi-polar too much you will get sick on stage and thats not good. I went to a new club and thought about and got sick. I too am bi-polar! Good luck though! Congrats once more!!
