    Default Dancing While Pregnant

Last night at The Jungle Cage in Hormigueros, Puerto Rico, I again saw what to me is not uncommon in western PR clubs: one of the dancers was pregnant and dancing. Clients are supposed to fantasize about having a relationship with a woman as a stripper dances to and with them. It is no fantasy getting them pregnant and having to pay child support, etc. What is the opinion of dancers (and clients) about this? Does their respective clubs allow or prohibit pregnant dancers? Do these clubs pay for maternity leave?

Appearantly this appeals to some men, as I see alot of pregnancy fetish escort ads locally. I don't get it though.

A girl at a club I worked at in the Midwest was dancing in her 7th month; it was very apparent that she was very pregnant, but she did very well! I don't really get it either, though...

Some guys have a thing for pregnant women, I would go to say it's nto the majority. I don't think it's a good idea for a woman to dance while pregnant. I don't think it's a good idea for a club to employ a pregnant woman. But what can ya do.

well at the mons venus in tampa you are allowed to dance till you deliver which i guess one way to look at that is that the owner is takeing it as a natural condition not weight gain. other clubs i have worked at out you go when you start to show. still others will let you work till about 7 mos as long as you have good outfits that kind of hide the pregancy. none of these girls went on stage for obvious liablity reasons. i used to see girls bank pregnant sometimes and it honsetly kinda pissed me off although i didnt begrude them their money in their time of need

I think its kind of disgusting because a woman should be taking care of herself and her baby at that point. If at 7 months, she is dancing she can hurt herself, fall, etc...
If she dances till she starts to show, then thats a diff story, but come on....theres a time and place for everything.
    My opinion

I know a lot of girls who work while pregnant. I can't stand the way some of the skanks that I know and have seen who continue to drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, and do drugs. And then they say dumb ass shit like well my cousin/friend/sister/whatever smoked and/or drank all through her pregnancy and her baby turned out fine. Damn!Dumbass realize that she was lucky and leave it at that!
Or they attempt to justify their actions with that my cousin/friend/whatever did not do anything bad at all during her pregnancy and her baby is retarded/sick/whatever. Do these people really think that that is a good reason to risk their baby's life b/c someone they know had a child with a problem even though they adhered to all the normal precautions.
If one decides to work when pregnant then use good judgement about the many aspects of dancing while pregnant. I have seen girls make hella money while pregnant b/c some customers feel pity or simply have a thing for the pregnant female form. Some clubs allow it and some don't.

My roomate is pregnant and dancing....she's only 8 wks but shes switching to days to get away from the smoke at night...shes not drinking or smoking and taking good care of herself...she should theoretically be able to dance until 5 mos or so....i think when your really big dancing it looks kinda stupid...but hey, you gotta be able to support yourself and prepare for the child.

Another independent opinion - I have seen lots of girls bank major when dancing while pregnant between 3 and 5 months. The reason ? their TITS get bigger! Once they get past 5 months and the pregnant belly becomes the dominant feature, they're mostly depending on business based on 'sympathy' or 'pervs'.

Melonie brings out the most important part of stage presence and all. Men in America may view you as reckless not that it is. The most important thing is your health and the heath of the baby. Some experts say that a baby experience everything in the womb. I bet if you search on the internet on pregnancy and activity you can get more info then from one doctor as far as miscarriage %. Do you know if your having a boy or girl?

Yeah I've seen a pregnant dancer at work. I was surprised the manager hired her on he spot. But he probably didn't notice it. When she was on stage u could see a little pot belly on her stomach ya know. It wasn't much but a little pot belly and men would think she had gained weight rather than being pregnant. When times are slow at work or when she's tired she would go upstairs in vip and try to catch some zzz's. What the hell ??? She's no longer working there but I've always thought pregnant women should take it easy especially dancing on stage. She was dancing wild like she would any day.

We also had another one but she wasnt dancing thought. she would walk around and talk to customers and giving them massages. She gets paid for that too!!! Thought it was awsome but damn a big belly. Men do really dig into her.

I know my views are a little different, but I think it goes back to the whole essence of womanhood. Fertility is like the ultimate femaleness, the fullest form of the Goddess.

That being said, I wouldn't work in a smokey bar while pregnant.

I don't think a woman should be dancing when she's pregnant, period. Smoky atmosphere, alcohol temptation, potentially risky physical activity for the baby, etc. I realize pregnant girls still need to make money, but there are other safer ways to earn some cash than dancing. Also, for those who are really strapped, there is govt help for medical bills and such. I personally won't even consider having a baby until I'm retired from dancing.

All I know is that after a shift of dancing, my feet kill from wearing those shoes all night, I have no idea how a pregnant woman could dance all night in stilettos! Also, I wouldn't think most men would be turned on by a woman who is carrying another man's child, but apparently some are.

I personally don't think that pregnant women should put themselves at risk by working in the club. Aside from the possiblity of slippin and falling, and second hand smoke, all that stress on your body is no good. But hey, if ur pregnant and dancing. then more power to ya.

I worked with 2 girls in lauderdale. One looked to be at least 6 months along. The club did not care. Hey dancing is great for a pregnant woman! The smoke is not. And what you hear, (loud music), the baby hears as well. There are pros and cons to dancing while pregnant. I would do it for myself providing the club was no smoking or alcohol. And make damn sure i could reamain with my job only doing stage dances. If i did not make enough money, i would have to stop until i had my baby. (i had a baby while dancing, i did stop however.) I see many pregnant women with bellies hanging out today instead of covering them, i think it's beautiful. And to dance for a lot of people i think would be very nice indeed. But safety is an issue for both parties involved. I have seen it first hand, and the bigger of the 2 girls looked beautiful, and took very good care of herself in the club. Rubbed the belly alot and seemed to get loads of attention.

However i do remember dancing at home to keep in shape, and the whole while i danced my baby moved. I had to give myself alot of breaks. Activity that puts a big demand on the body while prgenant can throw you into premature labour no matter how far along you are. That was my concern. I wondered about the 2 girls too, but they danced until delivery. And no, they did not get any maternity leave. Pamela

I've seen it. It sends cold chills up my spine. I wanted to say something to her, but didn't know what to say (I didn't know her very well -- I was just starting and she was in the process of quitting). I think she was at the beginning of her second trimester, and just beginning to show but it was VERY plain that she was preggars.

As Holly Day says, I am expecting!! A happy moment in my life! But I am not planning on continuing this job for more than a couple of more months at best and I don't party or drink and I don't tell customers. I am looking for some other part time employment at the moment but if I don't find any I'm not to concerned because the father is there to support me as well. He doesn't like me dancing, especially right now.
I only work a few shifts a week and I'm only 8 weeks along. I could never dance if I started showing. I'm a pretty lean girl on my worst day so I don't imagine saying I put on a few pounds will pass as just that.
I'm glad that this posting was put up though. It's given me a lot of input from different peoples views and opinions. I hope that no one out there thinks I'm wrong or bad to be doing this right now but I have to save money while I can so I can afford to take those last few months off and the months following delivery. But rest assured I won't be a statistic of someone who put's herself or her baby at risk if the risk is there.

Surely, that is the whole purpose of this thread. By the way, hope the baby comes out fine (and you too, of course).

    Autumn,
as someone who does not think its a good idea for a pregnant dancer to be dancing, I dont think your a bad person because you are only 8 weeks along. Even if you were 9 months, I am sure many (and myself) wouldnt think you were a bad person, just that its not safe for either of you. Obviously you need to save as much money as you can, and for that I think you are making the right decision. :-) But dont get to the point where you may be showing, and if you fall, you can hurt yourself and your baby reall badly.
    Be careful and good luck!

I hope I don't pass out when GirlFriday gives birth to our child (not that she's expecting...just someday )...
We all imagine ourselves the agents of our destiny, capable of determining our own fate. But have we truly any choice in when we rise, or when we fall, or does a force larger than ourselves bid us our direction. Is it evolution that takes us by the hand, does Science point our way, or is it God who intervenes keeping us safe.

So much struggle for meaning, for purpose. And in the end, we find it only in each other. Our shared experience of the fantastic. And the mundane. The simple human need to find a kindred, to connect. And to know in our hearts... that we are not alone.
