    Default Nerveous Newcomer

I will be going for my first audition sometime this wk. Am extremely nerveous. Been exercising like crazy and have my dance moves down pretty good, but the deal is this......... I am very much older than most would be doing this. Just say, Im over 40, look pretty good for my age and think I can pass this off, but if anyone out there can give me some good advice and pointers- really would appreciate it.

My advice is RELAX! There are plenty of women in the business over 40. Some of the best features in the business are in their 30's and 40's and they are making more money than any 18-year-old out there.

Heather's right - I think there is another thread on the board about dancers over 30, and there are many over 40, as well. One of the women at our club is over 50, and looks great - she makes *great* money, as well...
don't fret - just be confident and 'lose' yourself in the audition. Think of yourself already as a dancer...you'll do fine!

Let us know how it goes and good luck!

33 here hun! (in march). And can dance like i am 18. Lotsa luck to you! Good news.... You will attract older men, which of course means more money to spend on YOU!!! I have guys who are very young too, but mainly the older crowd i cater to. Because we can have a conversation, and relate to each other easily. Pamela

Hey, I met our girl Paris the other day, who claims to be 33. Good gawd she looks soooo young and kyoot! Age isn't anything. I'm gonna get carded for ever. Some of us are just plain lucky. Never discount the MILF angle, MILFs are good.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised that being a "more mature" dancer can actually be very positive. Customers that will see you as an "equal" are usually 40+ themselves, are also usually more affluent, and are also usually more respectful. In addition, some very young guys will appreciate you as part of an "older woman" fantasy. If you're beautiful, in good shape, personable, and capable of an intelligent conversation you haven't got a thing to worry about! I'll let you in on a little secret, I'm knocking on the big four oh myself!

Another little secret - when you go for your audition the guys and dancers at the club will more than likely assume that you are a very experienced dancer who has taken a "break" from the business and who is now looking to pick it up again. I wouldn't tell them any different until AFTER you're hired and have some hours booked! It will be an entirely different scenario than when an 18 year old auditions for the first time!

I agree. Older dancers do just as well if not better than the younguns. You seem confident enough, so go for it! Get out there like you own the stage, you'll be great!

Hey, its me again. Still haven't gotten to go for my audition, weather basically sucks here. Over 9 inches of snow last week. Thanx for everyones support. Will let you know if and when I get hired. Thinking of heading into the city where some bigger clubs are if things don't start happening soon. Need money to pay the bills. Ha, dont we all? Will let all know how it goes. Thanx especially to the 40 yr old prospective customer. Really boosted my ego, and it needed it bad! Luck to all

The most drop-dead gorgeous dancer I ever met worked with me in Phoenix. She never would tell me her age, only said she was "high 30's", which you KNOW means 43. ANYWAY.... she was a married, stay at home mom with a rich executive husband and two upper teenage daughters. She lived out in the 'burbs (Chandler, I think) and danced one night a week for the pure adventure of it. I met her husband -- he knew she danced, and in fact came by the club occasionally, but her daughters thought she was coming into Phoenix every week for an art class or some such s--t.

ANYWAY, she absolutely RULED the dance floor. She looked gorgeous, but it was more than just her looks, it was her attitude. She OWNED the customers when she was there. Her walk (total confidence), her smile (totally erotic) and that look in her eyes that let people know she was thoroughly enjoying herself and knew all about how to be a woman.

She was my idol. I want to be her when I grow up.
