An excellent string of recent posts, if I may say so.

I especially agree with Alanna's initial comments.
    -----------------------
    To Shan:
There shouldn't BE any turning of the tables.
This is the reason why we experience issues such as this.

The causes, (just to name a few):

    1. In the beginning, there were no official guidelines set-up in regards to code of conduct.
You would think it a given that one would know how to behave themselves on a public platform, but that's rarely the case.

    2. When guidelines were laid out, very few (as stated above) took the time to view and understand them.
Even fewer chose to adhere to them.

    3. Far too many people come here bearing arms, on a hair-pin trigger, simply waiting for someone to set them off.
This wouldn't be such an issue, if not for the fact that as soon as they strike, it causes a wide-spread reaction, which leads to threads such as this.

Yes, people will disagree with each other. People will vent. People will feel the need to contradict another's statements.
Done tastefully, both parties should walk away with a better understanding.

If not, well, it's been the death of many a previous forum. This one will be no different.
In case some of you haven't noticed, and I believe this is what Alanna was hinting upon; many very helpful members, whom all of us could have benefited from, have left, or rarely participate in this forum anymore.
The ones who suffer the most due to this are the ones who feel they know all the answers. Those being, the ones who bitch the most, and listen the least.
    ---------------------------
I am not trying to patronize, I am speaking from first-hand knowledge.
Though any previous forums I have ran have pretty much fallen by the way-side, they always remained productive because I attempted to strictly enforce the above principles.
If someone didn't feel they needed to adhere to them, they were more than welcome to leave....Or, if necessary, they were removed.

    My advice to everyone:
Read the rules; Obey the rules; and if you can't, either keep to yourself, or leave.
It will not work any other way. You cannot alter the rules to suit your own ideals.

    Place principles before personalities.
    ----------------------

On a side-note: Though it may not have been meant as such, I will reply to Djoser's comments in kind, and remove any current personal indisposition.

(I've been around these forums for a while for a reason. I'm conceited enough to believe that, anyways. )

dj what the fuck does all that mean
is this some stoner drivel you've betsowed upon us
and what does it matter what pryce does with his time/life...thats why he has moderators because he cant be in 100 places at once
if it's okay with u. i'm going to tell u to shut up...if that was what u were looking for....go grab the ganga and next time u want to post,..try not to be stoned if u can't handle it..

does everyone have cabin fever on this board or what... :-/
Holly I agree but this is not your or my site. I think DJ was agreeing with me. Pryce is the one that say what that give the rules. Which he passes on to you or Jacqueline. And I think this comment was not nice. My opinion. Even the moderators make mistake. But dont let it go to your head.

See me and merely disagree but there are other posts that I agreed with him. That's human. Everyone have the own opinion, which makes us individuals.

and i totally agree ...but to say that pryce should check in in one sentence and then imply he was stoned in the next leads me to believe he was'nt in his right mind so to speak...nothing against djoser...i have myself invited him to my town if he's looking for work...and he said himself he should be told to shut up....if u or he took it the wrong way i am profusely sorry

If this post seems wierd, you can blame Fawn, who shall always remain the one and only Queen of the Pole, no matter how many Princesses there shall be. She shared with me an excellent treat of cannabis. Fawn, incidentally, is a devoted fan of Primus.

Hollyday--you have done a fine job of moderating, and I will take note that you don't like people getting high in your room.

I like Pryce, from the 4 PMs I have received, and his rare posts on the forum.

I would like to see him enjoy his creation more--why not have some fun with something you have expended a lot of energy on? If he wants to do so.

You cannot criticize this sentiment, even if my statement of such was delivered imperfectly due to moderate consumption of a little weed.

And he has never insulted those he has on rare occasions gently reminded of their excess, in the process, which ensures the efficacy of said reminders. No trace of sarcasm, contempt, or disrespect to be found. I wish I could say the same.

If he could find the time, I would enjoy the benefit of his wisdom, and tolerance.

If not, well it's our loss, but certainly his right.

His guidelines are all too often ignored by all of us--myself included. DJs, customers, dancers, and even moderators have all, it seems to me, demonstrated less than perfect behavior at times (but who's perfect?).

Tini, thank you for you understanding, you are sweet. I was defending you, not that you need my help.

Any non-dancer who enters a forum designed specifically for dancers should excercise restraint in expressing opinions that he knows (or will soon find out) will piss them off. This would seem simple courtesy.

I sure would behave differently than I have here, if I went into a forum for exotic dance club managers!

Dancers ought to be able to vent on dancers' forums, and should be more restrained and compassionate on customers' forums, thats my feeling. And vica versa.

Since there are no forums worthy of the name for exotic dance DJs, I vented here, perhaps more than I should have, but no more than I have seen others do.

I have gleefully defended myself when I felt I was being treated with disrespect, with contempt and sarcasm, I confess. But Fawn, the Primus fan, made me look at things in a new light, without being aware of any of this, simply by being her sweet, gentle, sharing self.

A little weed now and then never hurt anyone, but I won't get high and come in here anymore.

You will think I am making this up, but I have always thought of this as my motto, long before I even knew what forums, moderators, flaming, and all this intriguing internet stuff was all about.

' Moderation in all things, including moderation.'

Which means, that in order to be truly moderate, you must occasionally exceed--in moderation, of course.

How come, it's his forum--is there ownership w/ Summer or Girl Friday, sorry, no slight--and he posts like once a month.

    Talk about restraint and self-discipline...

You should come out and play more on your own forum. It's not my business, sorry. But unless you are too busy, I think you should take a more active hand in your creation, even if it means telling me to shut up for a change.
    SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!

I try to come by and post at least 4 days a week and I usually stop by daily to make sure nothings broken. In fact I spend most of my time between this site and school.

I am webmaster of 16 websites, taking 15 units at a state university (not to mention taking winter session and double summer school during "school breaks"), have an 8-year relationship to nourish, and I'm trying to get a new "real" business off the ground. Talk about being spread thin. With GirlFriday's help, I can juggle all of these things barely.

I understand your point about moderation, but we're getting better and I already have some plans to help things run smoother as well as appointing more moderators.

To be honest, this site is running fairly smooth already. Think, do you know a place where 1500 people get together daily (500 members and 1000 guests on average) and share ideas and feeling about work, life, sex, morals, etc and argue as little as we do here? It only needs a little fine tuning...and it's getting it. Sure it's slow, but slow is good in this case I think. Hell, we've only been publicly open for a year and two months.

We have all kinds of things in the works...I just need the time to get them done. If it's between posting my opinion or improving the reviews section...I think my time is better spent improving things (it's not obvious, but our review section is now live...once you post a review it is immediately available in the reviews section...thank you, thank you ). I am the administrator, there are plenty of others who want to share their opinions. I'll let them do their thing and I'll do mine.

And I know, while it's tempting to post high...it's usually best not to.
We all imagine ourselves the agents of our destiny, capable of determining our own fate. But have we truly any choice in when we rise, or when we fall, or does a force larger than ourselves bid us our direction. Is it evolution that takes us by the hand, does Science point our way, or is it God who intervenes keeping us safe.

So much struggle for meaning, for purpose. And in the end, we find it only in each other. Our shared experience of the fantastic. And the mundane. The simple human need to find a kindred, to connect. And to know in our hearts... that we are not alone.

Holy shit, I pissed off Pryce...

Oh, theres a smiley face, whoops--well, just in case...

I meant it as a compliment, not a criticism!!

I WAS high, so maybe it didn't come acoss that way. I had gone out and blown off steam, had a great time for the first time in months, and wanted to share it with my friends, one of whom I hardly ever get to talk to because he's always working (please forgive my presumption in assuming friendship).

When I'm happy I want everyone to be my friend, and to talk to them all! If I'm high it gets worse, LOL.

I have really admired your restraint, but I'm new to this whole forum thing, so it's like a kid on Christmas for me. Especially with all these intelligent people in the same creative endeavor.

If it was my forum, I'd be on here more, playing. I still think you should do that, if you had the slightest inclination to do so.

Have some fun with it, if anyone should, it would be you! Life is too short as it is. That's all I meant to say. If your idea of fun is working on it all the time, or just administrating, OK, sorry. You've obviously done quite well at that. As an artist I understand the creation thing!

!6 forums is a lot of playgrounds to visit. Are any of them about anthropology, I want to join. (Pryce goes, no way, he won't shut up there either)

"Moderation in all things including moderation" can be interpreted as justification for a moderator going off on someone without hesitation--you can take it how you like it, and thats exactly why I like it. In order to be truly moderate you must occasionally exceed. Certainly I could never be a moderator, nor would I wish to be one, having little self-restraint.

It is not criticism of your website, or Hollyday. I hesitated to bring it up, but thought Hollyday might find it amusing, since I was accepting her justifiable chastisement concerning my most immoderate behavior. If my transgression had not involved a little partying, I doubt very much if I 'd have mentioned it.

Now, excuse me, I need a bong hit, after all this. (Djoser finally shuts up, for a change)

Don't worry Djoser, no piss-i-ness here. I was just tired after a 13 hour school day.

And it's ok to presume friendship...while I only know a few people here personally, I do feel like I know most of you to some extent.

Enjoying the forums?! I do. It's nice to see something evolve the way it has...I wish I could play on it more, but it's actually become more of a job...though, I guess I should have figured that would happen. Somebody's gotta make sure it runs.

My other sites are not all forums. Only three are, this one, SCJ, and one for a small software company. The other sites are commercial business sites.

As for our moderators, I've been wanting to congratulate them. They have been doing an EXCELENT job. I posted in THEIR forum, but not publicly. Moderating is something that's hard to teach...it's better learned from experience. There's a balance to find and it takes time. I think they've done great in a short time! *Thank you ladies and gent.*
