Hey girls! I'm a total newbie and I have a few q's. I was just wondering, if you're auditioning to work in a club, are u expected to know any pole tricks?...how do you get to learn them? do the other girls teach you? if so when can you practice? ???
I think I can work in a better club
I can't believe I got in
its just ok
who cares, I just do it for the money
The management sucks
The customers suck
I hate this job
I love it!!!

If you dont know how to do pole tricks. It's ok. The manager do rate you on what kind of pole tricks you could do. It's about movements, looks, and how much money you could bring into the club. And if you could pay their tipouts wink wink...lol.
Pole tricks is just to make dancing on stage fun and make stage performance look good to the audience. That's it. Alot of girl done bother with pole trick cause it can be alot of work. It could burn you out pretty quickly.
Also I learned from other dancers. Very helpful. I practice at the beginning of the shift when they is not many customers, or before the club opens. Also you could buy your own pole.
When hired on to the club i work for now i was not asked to audition, but asked if i can dance well and am comfortable with the stage. I am not sure abut this one, but i hear some dancers are not comfortable dancing up on the stage. It puts you above the whole crowd, and anyone at any given time can see you. Unlike on the floor where you can be hard to see with all the people down there.
But yes i was asked if i can use a pole. But i made it clear i don't care for lap dances. So i guess i got lucky, and hope you will too doing whatever you are comfortable with. Pamela![]()
I believe that usually managers pretty much know right when they see you if you will be hired or not, before you audition. the audition process is merely a formality. if they know you are new, they will not expect pole work out of you right away, and most clubs do not even require it.
since i work mainly day shifts, the customers are not too into pole work, but during a big sporting event or football season when the crowds are pumped up, i do lots of pole work - it can make you stand out from the rest and the guys will get into your dance and remember you when you come off stage.
most girls are more than happy to teach new girls how to work the pole. i would just ask them to help you and i am sure they will. you can also always go in an hour before the club opens and play around for awhile to get more confortable with it. it takes some practice, but once you get the hang of it, youll be swinging around like a pro!!!!

If you want to learn pole work, get some of the Deja Vu "Polympics" videos. if you have a dejavu club near you they will well them, if not, check out the website
I mentioned it before but it got buried along time ago in the messages. Playgrounds are excellent places as well to learn movements. I would do it when there are no kids around or at night. The monkey bars are great for hanging swings, (simply because you can hang and learn how to grip easier with out falling because your legs are there to help as a novice.) and the bigger pole for the swings. So many different kinds of hand grips can be learned. I myself have a swinging pole installed in my home. I have a hard time with poles that don't move. Pamela

I had a roomate who had a pole in the living room so after a while I couldn't resist, and actually got pretty good at it. At the beginning of the night before customers come in I sometimes show the newbies how to get started.
You really don't need the pole to be sexy, some of my very favorite dancers never even touch it. But it does get the guys' attention, so I always talk up the dancers who are good at it. Also it can really help you to loosen up and feel more confident about your dancing in general.
I always try to work with the new dancers and help them relax and dance their very best, usually with great success. One poor girl just couldn't dance, and after a month or two of coaching I had finally given up--I would just talk about her eyes and her smile a lot, she was cute so did alright with that.
Well suddenly one night, out of the blue, she did a pole trick and that got her going (you better believe I made a fuss over her), and now she is one of the best dancers I have ever seen.
If you can't afford a pole in your house, or don't live near a playground (great suggestion, Pamela), you can try doing pole tricks on any round shaped pole-type street sign, but you have to be careful because there may be slippery stuff on it, and it will attract attention you may not want.
One night I was out with a dancer friend who didn't believe me when I told her what I could do, so I showed her, but almost had to fight three guys who thought it was wierd and were assholes about it.
