    Default 5" HEELS?

I just went to audition and they didn't like the sexy/beautiful Nine West black pumps with the nasty wide ankle strap. I'M BUMMED! (3")

It took a lot to gear up and they shot me down...told me to come back tomorrow with minimum 5" shoe.

How many of you have this requirement? How the fuck do you DANCE on those bricks?

Backbends, walkovers, slick moves...I don't think I can pull'em off in platforms. HELP DANCERS!

    Feeling defeated......Laurie Z

Well, that's a bummer, but it is a requirement in several of the clubs I've worked in. I would suggest trying to get used to a platform with a 5" heel first rather than a spiked heel - it will be far easier on your feet in the long run.

If it will help your morale, I do backbends in heels all the time. Practice at home first and go slowly. You will get used to the heels, it just takes practice.

Here's a link to some shoes that meet the 5" requirement but aren't superhigh to give you an idea of what to look for. Dugan Bros Shoes Look in the "mini platforms" category.

    Good luck!

A good place 2 go is www.snaz75.com. They have pretty good prices on most of their shoes, and have a big assortment of heel height.

You'll learn. Tony shoes are the best brand of 5" and up, sturdy and the heel won't break. Trust me, I run in 8" Tony shoes!!! Good luck sweetie!

Yea Laurie 3" is kinda small for an audition i would think too. Go for the platform like Colettecall said. They are so easy to walk in after the first few days. Before long it gets so easy you will move to a 5" spiked heel if you need. They like a big heel, it's sexy and our legs look longer. I only wish the men who worked the clubs had to wear them around and get a feel of what we go through! lol. Pamela

Maybe its just me and Im wierd, but I think its actually easier to walk and dance in the taller shoes. The taller the heel the more comfortable I am. I went back to my smaller heeled shoes once and I couldnt even dance in them because they just felt too short. I threw them out. I think the 7inchplus shoes look sexier also...

Yeah, I have noticed that I am more uncomfortable when I go out in 3" or 4" heels than I am at work in my platforms. I think my foot's too used to them now! I also think that there is a stability thing that you become accustomed to with the platforms, too.

Just like the "Lap Dance" string of posts, remember we are providing a "Fantasy" I guess for some reason guys think fantasy girls should wear really high heels

You will get used to them. I agree that 7 inchers are more comfy than 5 inchers. Get shoe grips from the local drug store (usually 2 bucks) and put them on the sole of the shoe to help keep you from slipping.

My first night I totally ate it on stage (fell face first) and I had several other ankle twisting incidents too. These days I can run in 'em though!

Here in Chicago, some clubs REQUIRE 6" straped heels.

I wore them around the house for a few days before I started working. That really helped. Little by little, I got used to them. Now I can do anything in heels.

I also know of *atleast* one club here who required 6" platforms. I just got some 5" with a smaller platform because it's been awhile, and if anyone falls on their face, it'd be me! Put them on and walk around in them first, I know a girl who vacuums in them!

Hi Laurie luv, I personally feel that even a small platform is more comfortable to wear and puts less strain on your back. Why? Because your foot arches less. Why don't you try a 1 or 2 inch platform (I'm speaking of the toe area of course) first. Definately practice at home. That way you won't be wobbly on stage. You'll get used to them super quick! I have a friend who went to Denver 3 weeks ago to work and then she will be headed to Phoenix. Let us know how the $ in Denver is! Hope all is well with you and take care of yourself.
    love,
    $aph

p.s. I've done backbends in my 8 inchers so it IS possible!

the higher the heel the more flatteringly everything falls...low heels make your gut and ass stick out unattractively.......especially for an audition...i would have saved the low heels for after u got the job
i started out w/ stiletto's and worked my way up to 6"platforms...it takes practice and it takes getting used too because your thrown forward.....your leg muscles look great as well
    good luck

How sbout boots? i find them a very comfortable way of wearing heals. I have way more ankle support and I think they are sexy. I actually have less problems with men misbehaving when I wear my boots - must be a little more intimidating.

either way it just takes practice.

    Good luck

The girls who wear 3-4 inch heels that look good with a suit will stand out like a sore thumb in a club.

Five and six inch heels are standard. Just buy the ones with a 2 inch platform on the front and your balance will be fine.

I remember my first stilettos...OUCH!! I wish I knew of the platforms the way they are today when I started dancing, it would have saved me a lot of agony. You'll be fine...practice makes perfect.

Trust me, you will get used to them. I wear a size 5 and I started working in 5 inchers with no plat. Now my foot is only 8 inches long, so almost my whole foot was verticle, especially when I moved up to 6 inch stilletos. Just work to strengthen your ankles, they take the brunt of the abuse, and are usually the reason for falls. Once you can relax in them you won't have as much trouble, being tense makes you wobbly.

If you're having a problem with staying balanced in platforms, you might want to look into the cone-shaped heel - has more surface area at the bottom of the heel, and then maybe you progress over to the spiked heal.
