Default Guest on Jenny Jones Show........

There was another post that mentioned the young girls that appear on the Jenny Jones show and how they present themselves in a not-so-flattering manner. I have noticed this in the past and I wished I had a chance to say something to these girls. So.........I called the show and told them that I would like to be a guest and that I would like to have a chance to set the record straight and let these girls know that being a stripper is more than just wearing "slutty" outfits and acting like trash. That they are setting a bad example to the public and making themselves look bad too.

Well, they called me back yesterday. And I talked to one of their producers. And they asked me to send some photos of myself and a brief bio to give them an idea of who to expect on the show. So I did and they called again this morning to do a short interview and they said they'd call back later this evening to give me some more info on when they'll be taping the show and travel arrangements and all that. So it seems like I'll be a new guest on Jenny Jones pretty soon.

OMG. I'm so excited. And I'm a little nervous too. (Never been on TV before). But I put together an idea of how I would like to persent some information to these young girls. I'd really appreciate any feedback that you ladies could give me. And maybe any tips for dealing with any negativity I might get from the audience or other guests. Cause I really don't want to look like an ass on national television!

OK. These are the points I was planning on making. This is the way that I would suggest that they make stripping work for them if that's what they choose.

S ave - their money. slow nights happen.

T omorrow - plan for their life after stripping

R espect - themselves and those they work with

I ntegrity - what kind of person do they want to be?

P erspective - dancing is just one aspect of their lives

P rofessionalism - treat it like any other job

E ducation - (no brainer) this is important

R espect - listed twice because respect for oneself is

the most important thing a dancer can have.

Ok. I thought using the letters in the word stripper would be a good way to help them remember it all. Is there anything you girls think I should add? And do any of you have any advice for me on dealing with negativity from the audience or other guests? Any feedback you could give would be great. Thanks.

In case you haven't figured this out, what appears to be spontaneous outrageous commentary from the stage guests with even more outrageous responses from the audience are in fact "scripted". The show's producers spoon feed the stage guests as to what sort of "persona" they should project and often specific lines to say, and between filming breaks the producers also crank up the audience and even spoon feed certain audience members with "attack lines" they should hurl at particular stage guests.

How do I know ? I've been on the J.J. Show myself. After getting there and finding out how the show really works, and not liking at all the "big titted dumb slut" persona that they wanted me to project, I haven't been back on the show even though they've tried to get me back on more than once. I wish you good luck, and I hope that they actually let you portray a positive image say some of your positive statements.

Another thing u should mention to these girls is how yes, usually the money is good, but tell them about the really bad nights that come with this business. Ideally, Jenny Jones will have somebody on there trying to argue with you, but see if you could also be allowed to do an off-camera private little chat session with the girls so that u can talk to them seriously and freely about how they r making themselves look.
Jennys typical platform is to bring out all the dumb girls and then the last six minutes of the show bring out a guest who tries to dissuade them and usually u get 2 talk 3 minutes and the audience gets 3 minutes to shit talk. Try 2 ignore whoever ur intended antagonizer is, and set these girls straight about the pros and cons of this business. Make us look good.

I would strongly recommend that you stay away from this show. This is the show where a "secret admirer" was revealed to the guests, and one was a guy who was in love with a straight guy. The straight guy murdered the "admirer" and was pushed over the edge by the format of the show causing him public humiliation. The show was sued by the family of the deceased and the family won.

This show had also called me and asked me to participate in a show about getting money from men without having to sleep with them, or even date them. I told them that yes, I do get money from men without dating them or sleeping with them, but that is my job, as a stripper. Then the show's producer (I think her name was Michelle??) said that was okay, that I would just fail to mention that I was working at the bar where men give me money for nothing.

They are in the business of entertainment, and they were looking for "ringers" to play a part. I told them that I didn't feel that I was right for their show, being as I claim the income earned at my job on my federal and state taxes, it is a business, and not just receiving "gifts" from generous men.

You might also like to know that many of the audience members are paid actors, who take on the part of asking emotion provoking questions. They are given questions that are to be asked at appropriate times during the program. They are paid anywhere from $150-300 for their contribution to the show. Television audiences love conflict, and they will do what it takes to create conflict on this program. You will come out looking like a recruiter of underage girls into prostitution.

I know that this is just my opinion, but I think this show is a terrible form of entertainment, that makes the audience believe that fiction is truth, and many viewers think that what is on these "talk shows" is the real deal, and none of the folks participating are coached into what to say, and do. I guess my feeling is that the Jenny Jones show is the TV equivalent of the National Enquirer.

I am not slamming you, as this could be a great opportunity to get feature credits, and therefore give you more heavy hitter status with club bookings, but I wanted to warn you that if you wanted to portray strippers as anything besides drug addicted whores, this is not the medium to accomplish this. Warm fuzzy shows don't get ratings on Jenny Jones, and the bored housewives who watch Jenny Jones mostly want to feel better about themselves by looking at others and saying "gee, I guess my life isn't that bad after all." Howard Stern might be a better place to show that dancers are real sexy people, who get paid for their sexy jobs.

I hate that the media portrays us as it does, but in a way it brings more business into the clubs, by keeping exotic dancing on the fringe, and something that is "forbidden."

Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

Thank you, Melonie for the inside info about being on the show. I suspected that it went something that, but never having been on a talk show before, I wasn't really sure. I will definitely keep that in mind when I go.

I'm trying to psyche myself up for this. I know that I will receive a lot of negative attention from the audience, and probably from other people in my town when I go home. People who may happen to recognize me from the show.

It's funny, you know, but I've noticed lately that, with some people in my town, it's "OK" to be a stripper......as long as you keep it quiet. They seem to only have a problem with you if you are proud of it......people have such fucked up ideas about things sometimes. ???

And thank you for your perspective also, Paris. I'm glad that I'm getting to hear many different sides of the idea of being on a talk show and that I have a chance to think about all of this before I get there and the cameras are turned on.

Good luck on the show. Not much of a fan for talk shows. I had a couple neighbors who went on Jenny Jones about divorce issues, and she came back soon to go through a nasty divorce. They put her through the ringer she said. Her husband smelled like a rose. She had an affair, they with others were there to tell the story. She said that the audience looked over at a huge sign that said "clap" or 'Boo." He was hit with some questions of attack she said during commercial break to ask her. She just got nailed hard. Going on the show thinking she could simply tell her story and maybe mend a marriage that was falling apart, sad. He came back and filed, she ended up in therapy. I felt bad for her.
Then i read Jerry Springers interview with rolling stone magazine. Wow! He said he makes entertainment off others life problems. They don't have to go on his show, but want their "hour of fame."
Good luck kittie, it's all pre-recorded anyway, if you don't like the way it's going you have options. One is walk off stage, during commercial. Or stand your ground!!! Pamela

Thank you all for the helpful tips and support. I have to say though, that I have no intentions of walking out. I will stand my ground. They can tell me to say whatever they think I should, but when the cameras roll, you can be sure I'll say what I came to say. The worst case scenario, I think, is that I'll get a little vacation and a chance to speak my mind, and if the people at JJ don't like it then they'll just have to tape it over again with someone else.

Well, Kittie, I faced that option too. After I got there and found out the "persona" that they expected me to portray, I considered just saying no, dumping the show and coming back home rather than allowing them to portray me negatively to a national audience (many of which were potential internet fans and customers). Unfortunately, this would have forced me to pay for my own short notice plane ticket home from Chicago. Something to think about!

You have to realize that the majority of people who watch this show are probably stay at home moms/wives. So the show is going to try and show them what they want to see. They are not looking to find out that strippers are people too who live normal lives and are just trying to make a buck. The show is going to portray strippers as barely a step above prostitution and as homewreckers.

Don't bother going on this show, you won't be able to change anyone’s opinion in the little time they give you to talk, and you may only come away from the show feeling worse about yourself, and how people feel about what you do. If you and the people who know you respect what you do, that should be enough, don’t worry about the TV viewing masses that enjoy crappy TV.

Kittie, I wish you well if you do decide to go on the show. As the others have warned you...they will try to make you what they want you to be. Remember, they make sure they have control of how things look...becareful...
We all imagine ourselves the agents of our destiny, capable of determining our own fate. But have we truly any choice in when we rise, or when we fall, or does a force larger than ourselves bid us our direction. Is it evolution that takes us by the hand, does Science point our way, or is it God who intervenes keeping us safe.

So much struggle for meaning, for purpose. And in the end, we find it only in each other. Our shared experience of the fantastic. And the mundane. The simple human need to find a kindred, to connect. And to know in our hearts... that we are not alone.

Paris, I agree that Howard Stern is about the only TV Show where an exotic dancer has 1/2 a chance to come across with a positive image. Unfortunately, like the "show club" versus "sleaze club" division between types of clubs and types of dancers, in order to get on Stern and be shown with a positive image you've got to have enough 'status' to get past the audition. This obviously means being a '10' and dancing at someplace like SCORES as a pre-requisite. Girls can also get on Stern from the sleazy end of the spectrum, such as dancers from Mitchell Brothers O'Farrell Theater, but instead of coming across with a positive image these girls get questioned about how many guys they fuck in the club per night or how many girls in the MBOT dressing room they went down on.

The Jenny Jones Show CAPITOLIZES on the stripper thing - I cannot count the number of strippers I knew in Idaho who have been on that show MULTIPLE times.

I could go into my personal opinion of the whole thing, based on the episodes I've seen and what some of the girls have told me, but I'll refrain because you never know who could be lurking. My opinions might really irritate a few of my former compatriots... I'm not a fan of things that portray us all as sluts or airheads.

On the positive side, most of the girls seem to have halfway enjoyed being on the show, and seemed to think it was a blast. One girl I personally know got hooked up with some good agents through her Jenny Jones appearance, and now is regularly flying out of Boise for bookings in Cali, NY, and other comparatively profitable areas.

So my advice would be to not expect things to go the way you want, but enjoy the ride and maximize your fringe benefits any way that you can.

I was on the Jenny Jones show just recently. They made me wear a very revealing outfit and yes, they did spoonfeed what I and the other girls had to say. I wouldn't say half of it, so they didn't spend much time on me. Heh Heh!!

I finally got a call back from the show today. They told me that the producers felt that I just wasn't the right person that they wanted to do the spot on the show. So I won't be going. That's OK though. There's always Jerry Springer LOL

Well anyway congrsats Kittie for not having to go through that crap on Nat. T.V.!

All that "show" is for is to make everyone on it look bad for all the stay at home mom's and stuff. You don't know how many times I watched that show and was pissed at the was they were treating the dancers on the show.

I so wanted to go on ther and say "This is BULLSHIT!!! We are not all skanks, and druggies and whores."

But I know they would NEVER let me go on there, so I haven't even bothered.

Be careful when you go there. When my web site first came out Jenny JOnes producers contacted me about being on their show, along with some other dancers from around the country. Their whole slant was going to be to paint us in the worst light imaginable and to try and get family members to come on as well begging us to stop what we do. Most of the smart dancers flat out refused the offer. I hope that you can do what you intend to and that they don't trick you in any way. I just wanted to share my own (almost) experience with that program.
