    Default Intro & Champagne Room

Hello all, I just registered here but I have been reading since November. I'm 28 and just getting back into the biz after 6 years. (I started dancing, in NYC, when I was 18.) I now work in Connecticut.

I wasn't sure where to post this question so here goes. When you spend time in the Champagne room how do you moderate your drinking. Especially if the guy buys more than one bottle and he is pushing you to drink. I've tried to say "Not just yet" but the customers don't want to hear it. One girl suggested I water the fake plant in the room with my drink, but I'm not sure that will work! Champagne is so hard to manage because it sneaks up on you. Any suggestions?

First off i would not ruin a fake plant, and NO means NO. A customer should respect this, and know this is YOUR job, not try to get you smashed. Be polite, and say you get sick quickly. Thank him, and fake sips. Put your mouth up to the drink, but don't swallow. He will notice it is not moving, but probably think it is just moving too slowly down your throat. Aside from that, i get it alot. i don't drink. Guys have to respect that, or move on. I would be willing to lose a guy who is too pushy, in the long run he will wear you out with your no's all night long.

LOL - it's funny that the girl mentioned the plant, because many girls do that in our club! Your best bet is letting the champagne host/hostess know beforehand. Some girls in our club don't drink at all, but don't want the customers to know, so will order a "screwdriver" - but the waitress/hosts know that it's merely OJ.
As for me, am a lightweight so I keep drinking at a minimum. If the customer seems a bit pushy about drinking, I let him know that I am a lightweight and get sick easily from alcohol - which is actually true - and the subject is usually dropped after that. no one wants a vomiting girl on their hands :-/

That can be a tough one, especially since many guys look at drinking together as a sort of bonding ritual. Same with smoking, I've lost dances from customers when I didn't sit and smoke with them.

After all, I sell champagne hours as "wouldn't it be nice to share a bottle of champagne and get to know one another better more privately than out here???"

For hard liquor drinks, I always order a water chaser and a clear vodka. I take a sip of the water first (to make that glass half empty) do the shot, and then (yes it's gross) backwash the vodka into the water when it looks like I'm chasing the shot.

For champange, I try to put the ice bucket out of sight. I always refill my glass when it is half full. Since (hopefully) I'm blocking his view of the icebucket, I dump my half glass of champagne into the ice bucket (what a waste of Cristal!) and then pour myself a new full glass.

If he is buying the champange, that may be kinda tough to fake it. I would be upfront, there are many other ways to please him with out getting sick or drunk. I would stick to my guns. And say thanks, but i do have a tendency to get sick...i would not want vomit on me. Lol. Show him you are fun with out the drink!!!!! Lotsa luck..Pamela~

Thank you all for the advice. I think I am going to ask for water and drink more of that. Also our club allows a bar tab in the Champagne room so maybe I will encourage the customer to go with that. (Beer has so much less alcohol in it.) The hints about pretending to drink, and dumping the 1/2 glass out are great ideas as well. I will try these too.

I agree that there is nothing worse than a drunk dancer. I've seen bad things happen to other girls many times. Staying sober is important for both maintaining ones personal boundries, and for staying clear headed about money. Not to mention driving home safe!

I dont drink. Ironically the cusomers think its cute when they ask if they can buy me a drink and i say yes please i'd like a gingerale However when i go into the champaigne they know that i will have a couple sips but mainly im just there to make it seem like they arent drinking by themselves. I havent had a problem with it. Just be honest. But yes-i think i am an oddity. The last club i was at the girls seemed to drink before and after work and I was one of 3 girls that didnt smoke. But in all reality-i have found a lot of men respect that.

I'd agree with Holly. I make sure always to drink lot's of water between drinks and especially after my shows.

So all the suggestions worked perfectly last night! When my customer was in the bathroom I poured the Champagne into the ice bucket and filled it up again with water from my glass. I also brought a beer bottle in with me and sipped from the Champagne glass and poured it into the beer bottle when it looked like I was drinking it. We had three bottles and I was still sober. Thank you all very much.

Oh, so there's the option of having the dancer share your drinks or champagne ??? I thought the client had to gulp down all the liquor offered at the VIP's. At Divas in San Juan I've been offered a half hour VIP but I'd be hard pressed to swallow a full bottle of champagne or four drinks. Whew! (That does not mean that I won't ask for one )
