    Default License

If a club requires you to get a dancing license (caberet license) are these traceable? A dancer responded to me that if asked you can always say you do something else (entertain at childrens parties etc) Maybe I am not understanding the full details of what a carberet license is. I thought that you can claim you do something else if you are an independant contractor on taxes.Do licenses expire? Ex - If a girl is to quit dancing in a year, she is not going to be responsible for renewing her license or continue to pay taxes on dancing.Correct?

    Sunshyne,
You need to be more specific about what city, state, and type of license you are applying for.

For example. I have a Las Vegas Sheriff's Card that states "Entertainer only" ALL entertainers in Vegas have to get the same card whether you are a stripper, lounge singer, or Bozo the Clown.

In Anaheim, CA though, you get an "Exotic Dancer License" There is no getting around that one. In Phoenix, dancing is license-free, but you need a "Private Escort" license to be an escort...no getting around that one either. A "cabaret" license is pretty telling also.

It also depends what kind of background check a company is going to do. If you apply for the CIA, FBI, US Marshal Service, Secret Service, or Nat'l Park Service....don't even try to hide it.

Private companies usually just pull your credit report (another good reason to pay taxes.....try to explain that gap on your resume) School districts and public agencies usually just look for arrest warrants and court decisions.

    Hope this helps
    B

    Holly Day

I live in Canada and I have some Dancing licenses. I thought police will destroy the record after license is expired. Am I wrong about this?

In what way it will come back to me? I am little bit concerned.

You bet, when ever you apply for a dancers license, you leave a trail behind. They never get scratched off your name. I have dancede in Florida for many years, and information can be found out about me through applying for an 'entertainers' license here. Thats all i neede to do, just apply. But it's done. Pamela

Sunshyne, I've never in Philadelphia, so I'm not sure what the title on the license is....I'm also not sure where this thread is heading

It can come back and bite you if you aren't prepared for it in the future. However, unless you are applying for a highly classified job in the government, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
