Default Am I in good enough shape to make it as an dancer?

    Hi,
After being unemployed for nearly a year, I am thinking about trying out exotic dancing. I think I am in "ok" shape now, but could be better. My measurements are 35-29-36 roughly, and I am about 5 feet tall. I have lost about 7lbs since taking these pictures and am planning to go drop another 5+lbs so that I weigh 110 or less(I do a lot of bodybuilding).

    My questions are:

    1) Due to my bodyshape, would I get hired in upscale clubs?

    2) I am Asian american. Do they discriminate against Asians?

    3) I live in the S.F. bay area and don't want to work in a full contact club or have sex for money. Does that rule out the majority of clubs here? Would I have a better chance in another state?

    4) I am kind of shy, but can carry a good conversation once I get to know the person. What kind of money could I expect to make in this economic environment?

    Questions? Comments?

    Here is my frontal pic

    1) No, cause you don't have any experience to just walk in to an upscale club and get a job easily. Try tostart off in a local decent not sleazy club ao get the hang of it, then move up in to upscale club.

    2) It's harder on minorities like myself to make real money(like 500+ a night) but if you beautiful, good at what you do, you could make that kind of money. I seen lots of Asian girls do very well in NYC.

    3) www.stripclublist.com Check out the kind of clubs in your area. Go visit some of them with a male escort. See how the treat the women, decor, price, what do the dancers wear (just in case you want to audition there)

    4) If your shy your going to miss out on a lot of money. The first time will be hard but you get through it.

    1) Once you had some experience and polish as a dancer you could probably work in some upscale clubs. You're body will look a lot better in 6 inch heels under club lighting.

    2) It depends. Do you look exotic? I've seen exotic looking asian/black/spanish girls rake in tons of money, while the more normal looking ones tend to make less. If you can look tiny and muscular with long hair (think Crouching Dragon, Hidden Tiger), or if you can have mysterious cat eyes you can make money. But personality also plays a really big part.

    3) From what I've heard, yes. There are peep shows in SF that don't involve any contact tho, I think. And check out Britney Irelands page (britneyireland.com?) for honest reviews of the SF clubs.

    4) It depends on the area and the club. Probably about 1-200/night on average. There are still places where dancers can make a lot more than that but they are few and far between and very competitive.

I haven't been to the SF clubs, but from what I read on tuscl, they seem to be more like brothels. I think there are some no contact clubs in Silicon Valley... check for more exact info....

and yeah, i'd get a lap dance from that body, if you have a face and a brain to match

I agree with the first two posts, it probably isn't a good idea to try out an upscale club right away. When you first start dancing it will take a while to get used to "hustling" and many of the girls at upscale clubs are major hustlers, so you would be at a definite disadvantage if you are shy....you can't really be shy in this business. As far as your being Asian that would probably work to your advantage because there isn't really a great number of Asian dancers (at least in clubs I have worked at.)

I would imagine SF to have a lot of asian dancers, given the area. Attractive Asian girls usually never have a problem getting a job in the club, but given your experience, the other girls are right - it might; and probably will be harder. so maybe you want to work in a less-hustle environment. Competition is stiff, but since I've found that there are a LOT of customers with asian fetishes (who knows where that stems from) in urban areas, it will play to your advantage.

From the very beginning, try to overcome your shyness. If you are that way in the beginning, it's going to plague your jobs as a dancer. I know it sounds hard, but I've found that the shy girls don't last too long. We had this very shy japanese girl at our club one time, and customers were scared to ask her for a dance. Of course, she was painfully shy, which I'm sure you aren't, but if you walk in and sort of "trick yourself" into confidence as if you've been dancing for 5 years, mentally, it will make a difference on the floor. Also, in clubs where there's a big hustle, you don't want other girls taking advantage of your shyness and capitalizing on it!

    good luck!

by the way - Tini- I *love* your dolly pic!

Thanx Jacqueline also you brought a good point. If girls see that your shy or soft they would run all over you, mess ith your head. I've seen it done. So try an be strong, even if your a nice sweet person you also have to stand your ground and dont take shit from people dancers and customers. Be perpared to be disrespected, talk about, every bad thjing you could think of. This is a very tough job. Some people will love you, others will try do discourage to the point where you cant take it no more. But keep your head up.

Thanks for the great replies everone. I'll definitely take the advice and not start at an upscale club. The problem is, the non upscale clubs in SF seem to be the full contct clubs. I don't mind a little contact, but after reading one of Britney Ireland's old postings about the SF club scene, I am not so sure. Also, I read another board visited mostly by customers, and I get the impression that "exras" (hand jobs blow jobs) are part of the job at full contact clubs. Still, I need some experience.

Maybe i'll look into the Lusty Lady peepshow. I think they are unionized now.

    Thanks everybody!

Your body is ok. If you are concerned, working out 3-4 days a week will help you tone up nicely.

In the Bay Area, as you know there are not many clubs period. Lots of asian girls dance there, but all of th clubs are in San Francisco, Sunnyvale, San Jose, and one in San Mateo and one in Redwood City.

You will be limited in SF to The Gold Club, Hustler Club, or the new Penthouse Club if you don't want to offer sex. The other clubs out of the city are bikini besides Kit Kat and Pink Pussycat.

You could try Hanky Panky in Redwood City to get your feet wet, or one of the Sunnyvale clubs. Brass rail does great business but it is all stage and you will only get about 3 days a week. T's in San Jose is an option for you to get comfortable in. It is bikini.

I am a black entertainer and yes there is prejudice in this business as middle aged white males own most of the clubs. They will hire a quota of girls other than white, but you really don't want to work in a club with lots of your own race since mostof he customers will bewhite. That way you have less competition for the guys interested in a non-white dancer.

California is not a good state for dancing as they don't have as many clubs per capita as other large states. The Bay Area would be the best market in the US if they had nice clubs like Gold Club scattered all over Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano counties where all the people live.

I think there are better places to dance where there are more full bar topless clubs such as Phoenix or Tucson, (Tucson is better now), Night Trips in Oklahoma City, Albuquerque, and some others where you won't have many Asian dancers and you have agood chance of getting hired easily. Plus thecost of living is reasonable in those places and the clubs are full bar topless where you can go table to table asking for dances and makemoney.

If you don' ask all the customers for danes and make small talk with them and be persistent, you won't make money in this business.

Arizona is a good placefor you to learn the business as all the girls go table to table asking for dances, the customers are used to this, and this will develop your selling skills, hustle and confidence in approaching guys. No sex in the clubs.

The Bay Area is tough. There are so many girls and hardly any clubs. LA is saturated with girls and the topless clubs don't do well as the laws on contact are strict where there is alcohol and all the clubs there have had their liquor licenses suspended at one time or another for dancer infractions. The nude clubs are juice bars and not very good to work at.

    Good luck in your choices.

You have a Beautiful body!!! And Asian, you should do fantastic. Being shy is just a stste of mind, and one that is easily gotten over. I say try for an upscale club!!!! Hell yes. trust me, after about 3 hours you will feel comfortable and doing great! Grab some attitude hun! Don't bother with the other dancers, you don't have to. Go for the guys!!!! They will be there for the picking with lots more money in an upscale club. HELL YEA!!! GO FOR IT! It's how we dancers learn.

    Thanks Tina and Pamela,
I think I am going to try and get in better shape so that i'll have more confidence. Thanks for the detailed information on the Bay Area scene, it has really saved me a lot of time.

Pamela, you are a true professional and probably the most positive person I have run into. With that kind of positive attitude, nothing is impossible. Let me know when you run for president so that I can be the first to vote for you!

    Oh thank you Mikimoto,
i am just me, and love people! All personalities. I may sound too positive to some, but it's the best motivator!
Kinda like if you feel like crap, just put a smile on your face, YOU REALLY DO FEEL IT!!! I have a reputation of being stuck up with other dancers in clubs, but i am not there to make them my best friends. I am there to work, and work hard i do. But i watch others a lot. And at times i learn from their mistakes too, not just my own. I jumped in to an up scale club with no experience, because i had no clue. So i just faked it, Let my inner DIVA come out, and bang! I was no longer a wall flower, but a money maker! And i believe you can do it too! Why should i be the only one?
    Lotsa hugz, Pamela

    1) depends a lot on the hiring manager, and whether they need more dancers when you audition.
    2) I don't think so, but maybe.
    3) if you are willing to do nude lap dances you can work at most clubs in SF. avoid Market Street Cinema and Mitchell Brothers since you don't want to do "extras". Hustler Club, Boys Toys, Gold Club are alcohol clubs and bikini "table dances" that are limited contact. Crazy Horse is a nude lap dance club and is "known" for having many Asian dancers.
South bay has Pink Poodle and Kit Kat Club for nude stage shows and table dances (no contact), there is also Candid Club, Brass Rail, Hip Hugger for bikini stage shows and table dances.
    4) hard to say, worst case is that you owe money for the stage fee at the end of the night. best case is you make over 1000, but that is really rare now that the dotcom boom is over. since you are shy, probably take home 100-300/night. At Lusty Lady you are paid an hourly wage, somewhere around $15-20/hr.

I think you look just wonderful the way you are. If you want to be a dancer and are ready to get up on a stage and strip down for guys who may or may not pay you very much and work those hours, then I think that you should go right for it at this time. Give the clubs on Broadway a chance, but I sure would be a good customer if you showed up as a dancer next month in MSC. As far as extras, you probably have figured out a lot more by now. But let's just say, it'll be like picking up a cute boyfriend several times a night.

Thanks for the comments J morone. I am getting closer to finding out which clubs I would "fit" in. Good point on thinking "cute boyfriend" to help with my shyness. Maybe if I think, "sweet nice guy"(since thats what attracts me the most) i'll have an easier time asking for dances.

In the meantime, I am thinking of trying out Lusty Lady to see if it is anything like I read. I know, the pay is $15/hr and it is a peepshow, but it has something that appeals to me. Still, i'll have to see if they are even hiring.

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

Default Hired at the Lusty Lady SF

Thanks to everybody for the encouragement! I got hired at The Lusty Lady in San Francisco.

I have attached a recent picture of me that looks pretty close to what I looked like at audition time.
The audition went well, but I was worried that I wouldn't get hired after seeing many girls in the dressing room with incredible looking bodies. But they called me a week later to come in for training and the rest is history.

So far I love working at "The Lusty". Everybody I have met there is super supportive and fun to be around. In fact, I'm having more fun here than I did in all of my past jobs combined!

Still, I'll probably have to find an additional club to work at to make up for the $15/hr I am getting there.

So, if you are stopping by SF and want to do a private pleasures session with me or just want to see me dance, send an email and i'll give you my schedule.

    Default My Diet

Yes, I lost a lot of weight. When I took the first set of pictures I weighed about 122-123 in August. The final picture shows me at 108. The shoes help me look taller and a little slimmer, but without heels I look pretty close to what you see there. My measurements are now 34b-28-35, but people tell me my waist looks a little smaller than that. By doing a lot of free weight shoulder excercises, I was able to increase my shoulder width to 38". This seems to give my waist the illusion of being smaller.

I lost all of the weight by only doing free and machine weights 4 times a week and eating low fat, high fiber, and high protien foods. It may sound crazy, but all I eat is solid white albacore tuna, skinless chicken breast, beans, oatmeal, spinach, and wheat germ. To spice things up, I use different sauces on my foods to make them taste different. I eat 4-6 meals per day and try to keep the calories down around 1100-1400 per day.

The progress is slow, but I am losing about 2-3 lbs per month. The question now is where to stop. If I lose too much weight, I could lose the customers that prefer curves, but add customers that prefer slim to athletic bodies.

You look wonderful! What beautiful legs.

I was just watching "Live Nude Girls Unite!" last night on HBO (the film about the unionizing of the LL). Sounds like an interesting place to work. I hope you do great!

imho you're at the perfect weight right now~you have great curves! now you can just work on maintaining what you have and maybe toning up a little. i think that girls who are slim, curvy, yet a little muscular have something for everybody...

Yeah giry---you look great! Ive danced for a long time and FAR MORE important than the specific details of your looks is your ATTITUDE....you need to have an outgoing one like every man in there is there to see you. Im in SF too but just quit. (started ) As for clean youd like Boys Toys or Hustlers probably. Go in watch the girls dance and practice at home for a bit. Youll hone your personal style in time. Good luck!

    Mikimoto-

you are a total inspiration to us all who are "in training" so to speak...... I'll try the diet, and I am working out 4 days a week. Question did you drink a great quatity of water everyday, I hear "yes it works" and a "no it's bull" attitude, and I am just curious. You look great!

Lara: Water weighs more than body fat so iif your goal is to lose Pounds, water won't help, but if your goal is to lose inches (as it truely shoud be) drinking lots of water flushes more fat from your body. For women (who don't sweat as much as men) 80% of the fat you shed goes down the toilet. The more you drink....the more you flush (literaly).

Kaiya: You look good. I would start concentrating on lower body/leg work now as shorter girls need thinner legs to appear taller in heels. Also...that praticular style of shoe will eat your feet up. I keep a box of band-aids in the booth for girls who wear that toe-strap style. Smaller straps are better.
