    Default to all you dancers

after reading nearly every post on this site and researching stripping and what it's all about i have to hand it to you girls....you put up with a lot of bullshit, work your asses off, and i guess im starting to realize the not so great aspects of stripping.....groping, whiny men, jealous girls, slow nights, disrespect.....i have much respect for you girls. you are all beautiful and DO work hard for your money.....i am still very interested in stripping, but i now know it's not all glitz, glamour and fun......anway just wanted to say you girls rock!!

Cali, yes we do work hard and put up with alot of crap, but stripping is still a fun job! We get to meet and hang out with all sorts of people that we probably would never meet in our 'normal' lives, we get to set our own schedules, work as much or as little as we want, play and have fun at work, and make great money. We can choose whom we hang out with and for how long, and there are some nights when we make almost astronomical amounts of money for very little 'work'.

This job certainly is not easy or for the faint of heart, but it can be so much fun!

what a nice thing to say cali princess
    thank u
and sadly its true but as bridgette said above it is fun!
where else can u look pretty, smell pretty, drink pretty drinks etc..u meet people basically from around the world..u hear the latest music, sometimes before anyone else does...u have your best friends right there with u, to cry right along with u when life kicks u in the ass. i don't know if u can get that working at mcd's
ya it sucks, ya my joints snap crack and pop every day ya guys will tell u anything, and basically u have to sit there and listen facinated and perform endless hours of free psycotherapy
but in the end i come home and my son is there and he says 'mom can we go to the dollar store' (can't spoil em) and i say 'ya sam,get your coat' and off we go with a pocket full of cash
    blessed be

at the end of the night i always come out exhausted, my feet are tired i'm a bit cranky...but i got a lotta dinero$$ in my pocket that comforts my achey body!
i love stripping though! every day i go into work, i don't even think of it as work! it's more of a challenge...what can i do better tonight, how can i make more money? Plus I meet all sorts of ppl, I get to dance all night, and I get complimented constantly! It's like going to a party...but being the host. It's work, but it's fun (90% of the time).

I love my job dancing. While the money may not be what it was, it beats my dot com job and the job for the software company I just quit (I hate desk jobs). I get to wear costumes, meet interesting people, listen to music, dance and perform! I may have cranky customers and I may have slow nights and I may get rejected sometimes, but the benefits outweigh those things... for me. I have an entrepreneurial mind and I am constantly trying to better work my approach and my look. Anyone who says you don't use your mind in this business doesn't realize how many people you have to entertain and "click" with. I am a chameleon and I love it.

I didn't mean to "scare" you by introducing the subject of 'extras' right after you posted your first question. Hopefully dancing will turn out to be great for you, especially now that you are aware of more of the 'realities' involved in the business.

Well said Veronika!!!! Very true we have to roll with the punches. And it does gets easier with experience. If you can handle rejection and drunks, i think you will be just fine. That first guy that wants you to dance is like a high! From there the self esteem goes to 110! Pamela

Yep for all the psychological crap we put up with...I love my job! That's why I do it!

It's pathetic that with 7 years of college and 2 degrees, my teacher's salary down here would be 28K. Thats what, $350 a week!!!!

It's not until you look at other "real-world" jobs that you realize how great our job is! We aren't slaves to a time clock (well....unless you work for DejaVu) we can take time off when we need (or want to) and we have plenty of TIME for ourselves and our families!

For me, the key was finding the right club. I was very unhappy and pessimistic in San Fran because (as Melonie chimed in) EXTRAS were everywhere inside the club.

Girls are always going to do extras, no matter what club no matter where. The key is to find the club that doesn't allow extras to happen INSIDE the club. Then you can do your job as a DANCER and not have to worry about what a co-worker is doing after-hours at the hotel down the street.
