I dance in Texas and the DJs at my club play songs for 3.5 to 5.5 minutes long. There is even one DJ that plays songs for up to 7 minutes. (God forbid if the girl on stage chooses to dance to NIN "Closer" because it could be 10 minutes, no kidding!). We do a 2 song set on stage. Usually the first song is shorter than the second but it still seems like forever when I'm doing a lap dance.
At my club, and at many in this area, instead of men sliding/ tossing tips on the stage, the guys walk right up to the stage and the girl comes over and does a little 20-30 second mini-dance for him right in the middle of her stage set (while still on the stage). After his mini-dance, the guy gives the girl $1 in her thong or garter, then she either keeps dancing on stage for the crowd or stops for the next dollar tipper.
Personally, I think this method is lame and prefer money put on the stage for dancers to collect AT THE END of her stage set but this is how it is done here.
I skip stage every time mainly because I loathe the whole mini-dance phenomenon and there is not much stage appreciate at this club in general. (For the record, I do like stage but just feel the mini-dance thing takes away from my performance which is actually pretty descent) Plus, I make much more money on the floor and the $20 skip-stage fee to the DJ is worth going on main stage for $10 in tips (maybe) plus 3 side stages, a total of 8 songs!
Usually the guys don't start tipping til 2 minutes into the second song when girls get topless and DJs start prodding, so this is part of the reason why songs are seemingly so long when I am lap dancing during these girls' stage sets. Ugh!
So how long do songs at your club last? Does the DJ cut them even if girls are making money? Would it be unfair if they did cut them even if there were two more guys each lined up for their 30 second mini-dance? I've heard each song is 1.5 to 2 minutes in LA, California. Could this be true? Am I dancing for 5 minutes plus for $20 when I could be getting double elsewhere? Or am I just not putting myself in the girl on stage's shoes enough(the one being tipped during overtime...). Please know I am happy the girl on stage is being tipped at all but is it just at the cost of the girls that are giving lap dances during her set? Any comments are welcome. Thank you!
