    Default Washing Stripper Clothes

What do you use to wash your stripper clothes? I've been using Woollite, but it doesn't get all the smoky smell out. I end up Febreezing while the clothes are still slightly damp and hanging up.

I've always added white vinegar to the wash. I'm not sure if it helps...it seems no matter what I try my clothes still smell like the club!

Sometimes hanging them outside a spell gets rid of that smokey smell.

avoid the plastic bag thingie - it seems to intensify the problem....I keep them in those ventilated bags used for washing lingerie instead of ziplock bags.

that smell is like no other huh? yuk, perfume and smoke - ugh!

I love Gain! Also a hot dryer works wonders for smelly clothes. Sometimes i would just dampen them and throw them in a hot dryer and it pulls the smell out. Hanging my clothes in the sun would help but fade them if left out too long. I know some clothes can't go in a hot dryer, so i used the sun. But watch how long they hang in direct light.

I used fabric softner as well.

I always use Ecover Natural Delicate Wash for handwashing my outfits. I usually let them soak overnight first in a bucket, then swirl them around a little bit before rinsing. I've never had a problem with this method and my clothes never smell like smoke afterwards.

I use tide and liquid downy, but I've found that it's impossible to get the permanent, lingering body spray smell totally out, but almost. Victoria's Secret's lingerie wash works well too

I have also found that delicate underthings can be washed in shampoo by hand. Great when staying in hotels with small bottles of shampoo.I always use fabric softener in the final hand rinse and let air dry. Also, hanging in bathroom turning on hottest water in shower and closing door for about 15 minutes to steam costumes out really works great!

Short wash cycle. Cold water wash. Napisan Oxyaction with a little laundry liquid detergent (eco-friendly) and liquid fabric softener.... I've always gotten the smell out as my washing machine has a rinse cycle.

I just hang my clothes out on the line... in the shade or in the sun depending on how wet the clothing is. I don't have a clothes dryer.

I wash mine out each night by hand with the same liquid detergent I use for laundry, Era, Surf, etc. and then drip dry them in the tub. It does the trick for me. No smoky smell.

As for the shine in the Jessica Rabbit dress, go to a fabric store and see if they have some dye in a color called Cire' Black. Please don't ask me the brand cuz I don't remember. This stuff works best on satin, spandex, and lycra. It adds color but something in the color also adds shine or shimmer or something, but stuff looks better afterward.
Cleaning the chainmail bikini, do you have the one thats lined or unlined. If you have the lined one then metal cleaners might damage or stain the lining. If not, first identify, correctly b/c it makes a big diff, the kind of metal that it is made with. You can then use a metal cleaner of that specific type or that Tarn-X stuff if the kind of metal it is is compatible to it. You can also try a silver polishing cloth b/c they sometimes work on other metal for removing tarnish. My friend uses one to clean the brass stations and clasps on some of her high-end purses. Hope it helps.

So long as they're clean, I don't care. After wearing them again, even once... the smell is back!!! UGH!

Prevent the God awful smoke stench by washing outfits(either by hand,or wash. mach.)every time you use them--especially G's
bottoms and socks--or at least every other time---If smell exists or persists, soak garments in cold H20 and add 1-2 cups baking soda,or the whole dang box for that matter, and let rest over night--rinse out in cold H20 then wash if desired---If the outfit is elaborate or "delicate"try the dry method by dumping garments in a large plastic bag,add plenty of baking soda and shake it up--let the baking soda work it's magic for a day or 2or3-
bicarb. absorbs unplesant smells like a sponge---ie.,box of bicarb, in fridge---shake of excess powder well outside--Depending on severity of smell, let garment(s) de-funk for a 4 days in plastic bag, disgard old soda and bag,and add a fresh box of powder and let it sit for 3 more days--sounds arduous, but this technique will definately eliminate smell-
a box costs like 50 cents.

Thanks Lovecherries.I never thought of that.

I use baby soft by purex with baking soda or vinager depending on clothes and smell.
For whites I add oxyclean.more than what they say.

If you want to stop reds from fading.wash all together with vinager.

    2 Tips:

    1. I always wash my clothes in a laundry bag... You can get them nearly everywhere for cheap (Target, ACO, etc.) and they protect your clothes from the nasty spinner thingy

    2. You know how Victoria Secret always has body wash on sale? I find it washes well and smells good... Match it with your body spray and you are good to go!

Bleach reacts with spandex and turns whites yellow, so avoid using bleach with anything you think has a spandex/lycra content. Also don't put spandex in the dryer, it breaks down fibers.

Damn...I saw an article in a magazine relating to this...just can't remember where. Hope that helps!! LOL...but, really, I will see if I can find it and let you know what it says.

I use baby detergent to wash my stripper wear. It's made to be gentle, yet cleans well...and is much, much cheaper than Woolite. I also only hand wash all of my clothes and air dry them. A lot of stripper clothes are made with Spandex/Lycra and machine washing/drying them make them wear out much faster.

Thought I'd just ask this along with this thread...

what do you guys use to wash whites? My problem is that I had a pair of white underwear and washed them several times in a delicate detergent and one day at work these detergent spots showed up in the black light! it looked like I had cum stains or something! yuck!
