Default WORKING Vegas clubs/ foreign countries

I wanted to know if anyone has experience working clubs in Europe or Asia(guam) I'm interested in traveling. Is it possible to earn a living traveling as a stripper part time? I'm a very attractive in-shape African Amer. female.

So fall is the best time to go to Vegas? I'm interested in that also, but I hear a lot of the girls are doing "extras" and prostitution is expected or else they don't want to spend time or money on dances. Is this true? Any recommendations on where to stay cheap; maybe someone would like to go to work with me I live in Los Angeles.

    Thanks

Guam is a US territory, not a foreign country, so all you need to do is get ahold of the clubs and make a booking. Most of the clubs in Guam will pay your airfare and housing if you agree to stay at least a month.

I have worked with a dancer who really liked working in Greece, and Iceland as well as England, but she didn't care for Italy. I however have never worked either Guam or Europe, so this is just what others have told me.

Don't go to Vegas with stars in your eyes, it's not as profitable as it used to be. Although fall and spring are busier than summer, don't count on making tons more than you might at your home club. There are 34 clubs in Vegas compared to 7 just 5 years ago, so the market is over-saturated with clubs and with dancers.

You have to be 21 to work at any topless club. The most well known are Olympic Gardens, Crazy Horse 2, Cheetahs, Jaguars, SApphire, Spearmint Rhino, and Club Paradise. If you scroll through old threads, you will find info on each of them, rather than retyping it all.
Since you live in LA, I highly recommend traveling with someone to split the cost. I usually stay at the Sahara or Stratosphere because it's closes to Olympic Gardens. Rates are 90-110 on weekends plus taxes, etc. When you factor in food, transportation, ect., you need to make an extra $150-250/night than you would at your home club. In other words, if you are only making $300/night in LA, you'd have to make 550/night to break even on the trip and more for profit.

I don't want to sound negative, but I've worked Vegas for years, and am scaling back on my trips this year. Personally, I'm only going to hit the car convention in early November, CES in January, Superbowl weekend, and March Madness. I may throw a few random weekends in here or there, but weeknights are for the birds.

    Good Luck,
    B

The extended stay suites in Vegas offer the best accomodations. When I was there for 4 months several years ago that is how I did it. Budget Suites or Town and Country suites are good as you get a fully furnished 1 bedroom efficiency apt for about $225-$250 a week. They are modern and have a full size kitchen. Since you are in LA you can easily make the drive in about 3 and a half hours. The efficiency suites in Vegas don't provide linens or a microwave so you would want to bring your own.

Lots of girls work there now so competition is stiff. A hundred dollar a night hotel room plus cab fare and airfare is hardly feasible in this business nowadays. If I can't get a weekly rate place since I travel a lot I won't usually work a town because money is not really drastically better from one place to another anymore. All of the major metro areas have more dancers than 5 years ago and less business. I focus on working bookings now in the upper Midwest in small clubs that pay $300-400 a week plus our tips and where only a set amount of girls work a night, 4-5 in some clubs and in the bigger ones no more than 10-14. You are somebody in those clubs as long as you are friendly and the guys acknowledge you more there as they have less girls to choose from. Guys don't have to be rich for you to make decent money in this business, as long as the total pool of money the customers have to spend is only divided up amonsgt a small amount of girls and the club has enough contact in the dances to keep the guys buying. In these clubs where there is contact allowed, the guys are not allowed to touch the dancer during a lap dance.Plus some of the girls in the smaller towns haven't worked the big city clubs before and aren't good floor workers so it makes the competition even less. A slow week for me on the road is $1200-$1300 working M-Sat and a good week is $2000+. I have even worked in some rural clubs as the only girl where the club provided free housing and made $1700 for the week. I set my own dance prices, get a big cup and have the guys throw dollars in it for a free picture or dance and don't have to worry about other dancers hating on me for doing my own thing. You could work the same amount of hours in LV and become quite frustrated and not even net $1000 for the week. A lot of girls act like they never do that badly but simple mathematics and a look at the dancer/customer ratio will tell anyone that with more or as many dancers as customers even the prettiest girls can't avoid the 2 and low 3 figure nights lots of times. That is why Britney and many other wise girls don't deal with LV much if at all anymore.

Plus being a dancer of color as I am black myself, you may not be able to just walk in the clubs and get hired on the spot as easily as the white girls do, so you'll want to allow time to get hired. I kept getting the run around from shift manager to shift manager in 2000 when I was there.

There are quite a few black dancers in LV but some managers may tell you they have too many black dancers so I would advise going in the clubs and having a drink and observing the amount of women of color on the floor before applying.

While the potential for some good nights exists there, many girls experience a lot of $40 nights after tip outs. You may have 3-4 under $100 nights to one $300 plus one just because there are more clubs now and way more dancers than 4-5 years ago.

Let us know how you do.

thanks Tina I know in our life times there will still be the color issue, but some day we'll all hopefully get over that ugly hump of racism... I'm going to try working with an agency that hires internationally. I plan on trying Guam or St. Martin in November. Vegas sounds horrible... Yet there are so many clubs to work at and new ones opening all the time, including LA... so what's a stripper to do nowadays? I only work weekends at clubs for extra cash here in LA, I'd hate to try to live off the hopes of guys getting dances and tipping. Any agencies to work with southern state dance clubs? I'd like to go to Atlanta some day.

Bambi, you can get hired on your own in Atlanta. But you have to go through the licensing process similar to LV and the cost for Fulton County clubs license I am told is $300 per club and the surrounding counties is $300 for all the clubs in that particular county.

Maybe some one here can give you specific info on clubs there. I grew up in Memphis and some of the girls there worked in Atlanta and said it was allright.

If you go to vegas during events it can be quite profitable,I went last march and I worked 1 day shift and brought home 450 then got on the 9-5 shift at a good club and averaged 1000-1300 each night thereafter and worked 6 shifts,I did stay at budget suites and would not recomend it,we had to look at 5 rooms before I finally found one were the carpet wasnt filthy and didnt stink, also the first floor only has the suites so when you get home at 5;30am dont expect to fall asleep for hours since the people upstairs will sound like they are doing calastenics all morning and the couch that pulls out into a bed as well as the bed in the room suck, I have never been more uncomfotable, they do offer linens but its extra I think 20$ more a week, though I found vegas profitable you work very hard for your money the room is filled to capacity every night, like 500 people and you get mainly 1or 2 dances a guy.I have had friends dance in atlanta and do well ,cheetas is the top club, they have a large black population there and the clubs have a high pecentage of black dancers, they even have a few black girl only clubs, good luck.

When I was there Town and Country suites were brand new 3 years ago and some Budget Suites were better than others. I just find it is easier to stay in an efficiency apt when I travel, drive, and have my own stuff with me. Staying in a regular hotel with no refrigerator /microwave or transportation is difficult and gets old fast.

I guess I was lucky when I stayed in Vegas at the Budget Suites. I stayed at the same one on and off whenever I travelled there, and the management staff was very friendly. They allowed me to pick the location of the room, and I eventually ended up picking the same one every time...I chose the third floor of the building. Quite a hefty climb with all my bags full of stripper stuff, but my sleep was almost never disturbed because I had no neighbors above me!

Lots of good feedback thanks. So who's been to Guam or the Caribbean? I'm considering going in November. I checked out a Guam website for the basics and sounds like fall/winter isn't the best weather or time to go due to Japanese tourist.!?

But I assume the American ships come in often enough even at that time of the year. But at least my airfare is paid and I would get paid weekly plus tips.

ps how do you guys get your pictures or emotions to show up next to your names?

I'm currently living in Guam with my b/f. As far as I know there aren't ships at the moment, but I haven't been working for the last couple of months. However that can change pretty much any time. Guam has 2 large military bases, and considering some of the political activity in Asia, people may be called in any time. Don't worry, it's totally safe here. The only thing that poses a threat here is typhoons (this year it's so far, so good). So if you're open minded, and like travel, you might give it a try.

Thanks Foxee. I read online that the weather is not that great in the fall/winter months... I had another member say that the GSpot is one of the best clubs to work at. I've also heard of Vikings and Club USA. Which club are you working and did you go through an agency or contact the clubs on your own. I'm only interested in working for one month (november).

I think if you're only interested in travelling/working for one month, you should find one particular place you think might be best for you, get a booking and plan to be there for the full month. For most places, if you travel outside the continental US, they want you to make bookings for at least one month anyway, and if you stay for a shorter time and try to hit a few different places, you may wind up having a nice trip but not bringing home any cash. If you want to go to St Maarten, there is an agent that books for the best club there - you'll have to email her some pics and see what she says. I've never worked there but heard it is an extremely nice club with good money potential - they have a stage around a large pool inside the club.

I have been living in Puerto Rico (not far from St Maarten) for the last year, and although there are alot of annoying rules and political bs that goes with small clubs and the very different latin culture, it has been good for me, I have made more money here than I did in the previous two in the states. We get a fair number of travelling dancers, and as with any other place, some don't make jack and some bank - depends on your attitude and willingness to work, and adaptability.

November is, however, a part of the busiest time of year for Caribbean travel, so business here and in St Maarten will be going strong during that month (hurricane season ends in October, so November gets busy quick). If you want to hit the Caribbean at that time, I'd say go for it. Contact the agent I referenced above and ask her about business in St Maarten in November, and let me know if you might be interested in coming to Puerto Rico. I think you will get some sort of work permit dance in St Maarten, but Puerto Rico is a US territory, so it's just like dancing in any US state, except at tax time.

Yes, the winter is the rainy season (it's been overcast the last couple days). But, like any island, it can come and go anytime. As ar as clubs go, this is MY opinion- G-spot is probably the steadiest money because it's big (for Guam), there are alot of japanese, and it is the cleanest for contact (and they might help with 1 mo. airfare) BUT- When I worked there I found the girls to be VERY catty and untrustworthy (which wouldn't be so bad except in dancer housing they will be your roommates). Viking is the place I like because it's laid back, the girls are nice and it's not to nasty for here (my friends that have, or do, work there seem happy with the $). Club USA I can only say that what I saw on stage with my own eyes reminded me of Thailand. That was a year ago, I don't know any girls there so I'm not dogging them. But I do know a guy got laid in the back last week. So, I hope that stuff helps. As far as agents go, I don't know which club best dancers books. I flew myself (but, I have an apartment so that's also gonna be a factor for you).
That said, Bridgett is right about the Carribean being in season in the fall/winter. It's alot closer to the states. But you should probably talk to the agent.
Hope this helps! Lots of luck
