    Default cocktail waitressing in SC's?

    Hey everyone,
I have never worked in a strip club before, but I am trying to find a job cocktail waitressing. I have very little experience, and am in college, but I wanted to know if any of you know how well the waitresses do in tips, if it's like having to compete with the dancers? BTW, I am in the Southern California area.
    Thanks everyone!

I waitressed at a VFW in high school and a spaghetti restaurant in college before I started dancing. The pay for dancing is better and the sexual harrassment is less.

Thanks, but I wanted to clarify, I meant waitressing in a strip club.

I don't think that the cocktail waitresses and dancers are really competing for tips because they both offer different services to the customers. However, many nights I look at the waitresses in my club and see them doing so much more work than I do for a lot less money than I make. But it all depends on the club.
I would think that being a shot girl would be more fun and more money than being a waitress, but that may mean you would be expected to drink more than you are comfortable with

There's a joke that floats around the clubs. I think I also read in here a while back, but I love it.

What's the difference between a cocktail waitress and a stripper?

    About one week.

OMG, that cracked me up! Do you think that the waitresses have to have perfect bodies, because I'm not fat, but I'm not dancer material. I'm cute, big boobs, but they are real, so I totally could not dance or anything.

I think the joke has more to do with the mindset than the physical. A lot of girls come in thinking "Oh, I'd never dance - maybe I'll just cocktail." And after a week, they see the money in comparison for much of the same hassles. They still get oogled and grabbed by customers who think they deserve to see more than they do. They are still required (at least in clubs I've worked at) to wear incredibly sexy and skimpy outfits. And they still have to play the same games dancers do to earn bigger tips, except that they have to probably work a bit harder for a bit less.

It's generally a very short time before they "just try it".

Cocktail waitressing in a strip club vs. a regular bar, which do you think does better in tips? And, more fun?

This is entirely dependent on the type of strip club versus the type of "regular" bar. Being a cocktail waitress in a popular upscale big city lounge frequented by three piece suit customers doing business lunches and after work drinks can pay fantastically well, but it is VERY difficult to just walk into such a position. Working the bar at Hooters can pay fantastically well if you stretch out the uniform properly, as long as you can put up with hands in your cleavage all night (at least every hand leaves a tip!). On the other hand, serving drinks in many 'straight' bars and restaurants can be a lot like work, with plenty of harassment and minimal earnings.

Waitressing in strip clubs generally does NOT work in nude juice clubs, unless of course the waitress is also available for private dances (some guys rise to the challenge of convincing the waitress to get nude and grind on them! - and many nude club waitresses wind up spending as much time in the VIP room as the dancers do). Alcohol strip club waitressing can mean decent money, but you ARE going to draw comments and invitations the way the dancers do but WITHOUT getting paid as well for it!
