    Default Hong Kong...??

??? I am wondering if anyone has danced over in Hong Kong and would like to share their experiences?

I'm asking out of curiosity as well as since a local agengy in town sends dancers over to Hong Kong (contract work).

I hear alot about Japan and now am more informed about Guam (Guam will be a good possibility after the whole Iraq thing in my opinion so I'm going to hold back on that...)........ however have yet to hear much about anything about dancing in Hong Kong?

    Thanks in advance :-)

during time of eminent war, it might be best to stay in the USA. We have about 3,000 different clubs in the US, why look elsewhere.

I have visited a couple of Hong Kong clubs but never worked in them. "Gai-Jin's" (archtypical American barbie blondes with big hooters) do extremely well with the upper class Chinese and the visiting Asian and western businessmen. Contact levels can be "up there" but you're paid well for it. But remember that the days of British rule in Hong Kong are over. You're in CHINA now, and if you piss off the wrong person or if someone rich and connected takes a liking to you, you could vanish without a trace.

The one good thing about Guam is that it is American territory, with American law enforcement and a big American military presence. While Guam isn't as safe as staying on the mainland in our scary world of "random" terrorist attacks, it is better than working in an outright Asian country (whether that country is a US ally or not!). I'm not sure how important all this is if you are an Australian citizen, but I'd say the odds of a terrorist attack in Guam are 100 times lower than they were in Bali (is there an actual word for "security check" in their language?). If you have your heart set on working in Asia, the least risky option these days is probably to fly straight through Hawaii to Guam (which American girls can do without a passport and without setting foot in a foreign country) and dance there. I'd sooner see you do this than risk a trip to Guam through Japan or Hong Kong, or working the clubs in Japan or Hong Kong.

GI Joe: I'd guess that the main reason AussieVee doesn't look in the US for a new club is because she's in AUSTRALIA. The commute sucks.

Aussie: I'll back Melonie up on the dangers of dancing in Asia. I personally know of 2 girls (both typical American Barbies) who disappeared while working (thru an Agency) in Japan. Nothing was done by the Authorities and this was 3 years ago. China is worse. Asia is well known as the center of white slavery operations. Women (especially foreign women) do not have much value in the asian cultures beyond cooking/cleaning/sex so, while you may be able to bank at the clubs there, is the risk really worth it?

whew - wow. I cant say much abut hong kong but I did work in Macau twice, which is asian territory. About a 45 minute jet foil trip from Hong Kong. I loved it. I would go back in a heart beat. Both times were two month contracts each. I went thru STRIPPER Entertainment (see website) they handled all the contracts and visa's and was problem free. AGain - I loved it was treated royally and was an experience I will never forget...
If you can work it - do it legally and research the gig thouroughly - trust your agent - and enjoy. The money was fabulous and the experience was like none other.

    Leigh-
Would it be possible to get more info on your trip to Macau? Was it as a feature, or could house girls get booked? It sounds very intriguing....

No I went with a group of girls and we all took equal billing. No need to be a feature. Please check the stripper website, and look into their overseas gigs. Again it was the most beautiful memorable trip taken so far. Black volcanic sand beaches....Bamboo forests, such a complete difference in culture, I was in awe. I spent every day 7 days a week for 2 months straight visiting every single place I could. (we didnt start work til 7pm) I went to 2 islands just offshore, to temples and gardens, oh I miss it.....

I went to Macau and loved it too. You need really good promotional pictures to go.

In Hong Kong and other Asian Countries right now there has been an epidemic of SARS, a deadly respiratory virus. There is no known treatment.

I'm also curious as to whether the posters who worked in Macau did so before or after the official exit of the British and Portuguese authorities 3 years ago. I know that law enforcement in Hong Kong changed tremendously when British rule reverted to the Chinese, and I imagine that Macau has changed as well now that Portuguese control has ended and the Chinese now control it again.

I wouldn't make a huge issue out of SARS being only in Asia - Toronto has declared a health related emergency already and this disease will eventually spread throughout the world. However, you're right that there's no point of spending 12 hours sitting next to an infected Chinese on a flight to Asia!
