Default Anyone know anything about LA & San Diego club

Which LA and/or San Diego clubs offer the best earnings potential in a relatively upscale environment?
Also, please advise on house fees, audition/hiring practices, contact levels, etc. Thanks so much!

    Hey Juliet,

I don't know much about San Diego, but I do work in LA. Not Hollywood, but in the suburbs. I have only worked in two clubs since I have moved here. I worked in a beautiful place called the Classic Lady of Oz in Van Nuys. It is nude, they don't charge a house fee just expect to tip DJ and optional to tip others. You have to work at least three shifts a week but the shift is only six hours. Management is great, once they get to know you. The only drawback is, this club is known for extras, so watch out. They raised they're rates on the dances and took the private curtains down from the booths and they're business went down so I quit. I was offered jobs at the Blue Zebra and Jumbo's Clown Room, but decided not to work there. I am in a medium sized club in the valley that has potential. The tipout is minimal and if you are into stage dancing, you get to do a lot of it.

As far as super upscale clubs go, try 4-play or Bare Elegance. Plan B is supposed to be a really cool bikini bar.

I choose to work in the suburbs because I like having my car close by when I leave and I hear the celebrity crowd in W. LA or Hollywood can be cheap and rude, even though most of the dancers are gorgeous.

If you have more questions email me at [email protected]

    Cheers,

    Juliet,

If you are looking for something comparable to SCORES in Southern California, you are out of luck. There are no upscale topless clubs in LA. If you are okay with dancing nude, the two mentioned above are the best in town, but still no comparison to Scores.

San Diego is DeJaVu territory. There are a few other club chains: Cheetahs and Pure Platinum. If I recall correctly, topless dancers have to wear pantyhose underneath their thongs (like hooters) and dances are $10 with bikini on.

    Good Luck!

    Thanks for the advice, girls!
I'm not really looking for anything comparable to Scores -- just a decent club with above-average earnings potential for a good hustler. $400-500 minimum per shift.
I prefer topless or bikini, but will dance nude if it's no-contact. How selective are 4PLay and BareElegance? WHat about Spearmint Rhino? Do these clubs require a schedule, and whar are the house fees/yip-outs?

    J-
Lower your payment expectations...4-5 is a GOOD night for SoCal strip clubs. 2.5-3 is average for topless clubs. Remember these are BIKINI bars with $10 dances.
In San Diego and Orange County the laws are strictly enforced (Topless onstage 6 feet away) LA is slightly less stringent, but still ridiculous. Most of the clubs have a special lap dance area that you have to walk the customer to in order to dance for him (i.e. no dances in his chair out on the main floor) So, since he has to get up and walk over to the lap dance area (where the bouncer is lurking over him) you usually don't get 10 dances in a row. Also, I don't know of many topless clubs that have champagne rooms. Pleasures in Pasadena did (you keep $130/hr)

Nude clubs are full contact. I've never been to BE or 4P, so I can't comment. Spearmint Rhino is just as bad as DejaVu: very high fees that force dancers to do extras. Also, you are contracted to work certain shifts, if you miss one you are still obligated to pay the stage fee, late fees per hour, etc.

Similar to Vegas...if you happen to be in the area and want to pick up a little spending money, have a ball. However, So Cal IS NOT worth the travel expenses if you are trying to turn a profit.

San Fran would be worth the trip when Boys Toys re-opens as the Penthouse Club. Even though it's DeJaVu, it will be clean for the first few months and they usually promote grand openings very well.

    Hi everybody,

As a dancer who works in a nude club in Los Angeles, I thought I would add my two cents to this discussion. I don't know much about San Diego other than that it is a no-contact city with several regulations that probably tend to inhibit earnings.

With regard to Los Angeles, Britney is correct when she states that there is not much money to be made in the bikini and topless clubs. In clubs that serve alcohol, dancers are only permitted to perform air dances. Consequently, there is not much demand for dances and the atmosphere is much more social, which can be frustrating when trying to make money. For this reason, and because I do not like to drink, I elect to work in a nude club.

Although there is more income potential in nude clubs, the down side to this is that it is standard for clubs to take 40%-50% of private dance earnings to compensate for the lost revenue from alcohol sales. However, because the club gets a cut from each dance, they also have an incentive to market dances to the customers and also tend to cut songs short (2.5-3 minutes is normal in most nude L.A. clubs). Most nude clubs also have no stage fee or a nominal one (the largest I've ever heard of is about $30).

Regarding specific clubs, the others were correct when they mentioned 4Play and Bare Elegance as the most "upscale" clubs in the LA area. 4Play is a smaller club that attracts a very high caliber of customer. It provides contact lap dances that are strictly monitored by bouncers to insure that no touching occurs by the customers. As of last fall when I worked there, lap dances are $19 (club keeps $5) with a $25 stage fee and a low tip out to the DJ and $8 to security. There is also a VIP section where couch dances are $29 (club keeps $10) and bed dances are $39 (club keeps $15) with a 5 song minimum. The dances in the VIP room really don't entail much more contact than regular lap dances as they are also strictly monitored by security.

Bare Elegance is a larger club located near LAX. You are considered an employee at this club so you receive a check for minimum wage; however, to compensate for this they also retain 50% of your private dance earnings. Also, there are very particular rules that require customers to pay for dances at the cash register, which I found to negatively impact tips. Dances are generally $30, perhaps $20 during the day. Dances are performed in private booths with semi-opaque curtains, and I don't believe there are cameras in the booths. I believe touching is permitted at the discretion of the dancer, but contact levels are still considered low by LA standards.

Spearmint Rhino clubs are very upscale looking, and there is a lot of money to be made there, but contact levels are very high. They offer $20 topless lap dances (club keeps $ and $40 nude lap dances (club keeps $17). There is also a small stage fee, and you are required to tip the DJ, manager, security, etc (basically everyone and their mother here). This can be very frustrating to part with such a high percentage of your money. Also, the Rhino requires you to schedule yourself for 3 7.5 hour shifts per week.

There are many other nude clubs in LA, but most of them are not worthwhile in my opinion. Another club that wasn't mentioned is the Body Shop on Sunset Blvd, which has a premium location. I do not know what the income potential is, as I have never worked there. As for income potential, I usually average between 4 and 6 a night, regardless of weeknight or weekend, working 5 hour shifts. So, there is potential to make money regardless of the high payouts, but not so much to justify a special trip out to So Cal just to work in my opinion. Also, all clubs in CA are non-smoking, which makes for a much more pleasant working environment if you are a non-smoker.

Finally, if you are not already familiar with it, I would refer you to the site for a comprehensive look at SoCal strip clubs. I hope this helps.

Having no previous dancing experience, I'm looking for a decent nude club in the LA area where I can somewhat get the feel for things. I haven't considered upscale clubs, because even though people have said to just go for the best, I'd hate to get in over my head (I try to be realistic). Somewhat comfortable atmosphere, DECENT money, and minimal extras are what I have in mind. I was curious about the Seventh Veil, Tulips, and the Body Shop....any advice.....?

    Virginia Dare,
You posted some awesome advice. I have heard that in CA almost all clubs report that you dance to the government to make sure that you pay the correct amount of taxes. I do not have a problem paying taxes but I do have a problem with having a permanent record that I was a dancer. It sounds like Bare Elegance definitely reports everyone...How about 4play? I am looking for a club where I can make between 4-600 consistently, low contact, that does not require my profession to be disclosed. Do any clubs like this exist? You are the first person to tell me that 4-600 CAN be made in S.CA. I do not think danicng would be worth it for much less than that. Where do you work now?
