    Default Importance of water

article i found on water ...

Next to oxygen, water is the most important substance in the body. The average adult body contains approximately 45 pints of water and excretes about 32 pints daily through perspiration, respiration, urine and defecation. The internal temperature of the body is controlled with water. The average body temperature is 98.6o Fahrenheit. If it rises above this temperature we become feverish. If it falls below, we are physically affected. Water makes up 92% of the blood in the body and nearly 98% of intestinal, gastric, saliva and pancreatic juices. Many people have a dehydrated appearance. Their skin looks parched, withered, dry and old. Look at the dry and withered hands of many people. Look at the wrinkles on their foreheads and around their eyes. See how a curtain of dry flesh hangs over their eyes. Such people seem to squint out of little eye slits to see.

Many people are chronically constipated, another sign of dehydration. Many people suffer from burning, irritating urination, which is also a sign of water starvation.

Inorganic Salt is a Health Wrecker
Another side of water imbalance is due to the excess use of inorganic salt and salty foods, which leads to the waterlogged human. You see young children 7 to 10 or more years old who are so waterlogged that they look grotesque. Some of these children have bloated and middle aged-looking bodies. Just compare them to the adults with their bloated and puffed-up faces, arms, bellies, legs, ankles and feet.

The amount of water a body needs depends on temperature, climate, one's activities and general health. When you drink a glass of water it goes directly to your stomach. Part of the water is absorbed directly into your bloodstream through the walls of your stomach. The remainder goes to your intestines to keep the food you eat in a liquid state while it is being absorbed; this water is later absorbed directly into the blood.

Drinking the right kind of water is one of your best natural protections against all kinds of virus infections, such as influenza, pneumonia, whooping cough, measles and other infectious diseases.

Doctors advise bed-rest and plenty of water for the flu. When the body tissues and cells are kept well supplied with the correct amount of water, they can fight off viral attacks. If the body's cells are water-starved, they become parched, dry and shrivel, making it easy for viruses to attack.

Always bear in mind the important functions of the right kind of water in your body. Water is a vital component of all body fluids, tissues, cells, lymph, blood and glandular secretions. Water holds all nutritive factors in solution and acts as a transportation medium to the various parts of the body for these substances. The mucous membranes need plenty of water to keep them soft and free from friction on their delicate surfaces. Liquid is necessary for the proper digestion of food. The stomach acts as a powerful churn to break down food into small particles.

Water Flushes Toxins Out of the Body
One of the most important functions of water is to flush the toxins and salt from the body. Unfortunately, people the world over use large amounts of salt. From centuries ago to the present day, there have been countries that have never known what salt is and whose people were still healthy and happy.

The Japanese are known to be the world's highest consumers of table or inorganic salt (sodium chloride). A Japanese farmer who lives to be 60 years of age eats approximately 2 ounces of salt every day of his life and filters through his kidneys 2,737.5 pounds or 1.36 tons of salt in his lifetime!

Americans are not far behind the Japanese in the consumption of salt. Not only do Americans add plenty of salt to their foods, they also eat large amounts of salty foods including ham, bacon, hot dogs, luncheon meats, corned beef, potato chips, salted nuts and many other foods with high concentrations of salt. No wonder heart disease is the # 1 killer in America! No wonder people in their 30's suffer from high blood pressure, kidney trouble, arthritis and the greatest of all killers, arteriosclerosis or the hardening of the arteries, veins and blood vessels!

The proper amount and right kind of water helps to keep cholesterol levels down. Remember, water is a flushing agent. In our opinion, the right kind of water is Mother Nature's greatest beauty and health tonic. In our long career as nutritional and fitness advisors to the greatest stars of films and TV, we have found that, when we can persuade the stars to use the correct liquids, they retain an ageless face, form and figure much longer than the person who drinks ordinary water. Pure water keeps the body cells normal and prevents dehydration. The face and neck remain free of ageing lines and wrinkles while the entire body retains its youthful characteristics longer.

Water is Important to Superb Health
People who drink the right kind and amount of liquids (distilled water, fresh fruits and vegetables and their juices) have better circulation, which is most important to Super Health and long life.

In our opinion, the right kind of water helps improve your mind and brain power. We really believe that it makes you think better and more accurately! You have 15 billion powerful brain cells which are 70% water.

We also think that the excessively nervous and/or mentally upset person is so obsessed with his own worries and "hangups" that he just forgets to drink water and other liquids of the right kind. Instead, he dopes himself on alcohol, tea, coffee and cola drinks which only complicate his nervous condition by introducing burning, toxic acid into his stomach with no food or water to dilute it. So on top of his nervousness and depression, he suffers from sour acid stomach, heartburn, gas-bloat and other miseries. Instead of drinking sufficient water, these people dope up on aspirin, cigarettes and stimulants.

Remember that the nerves need the correct amount of water to function properly and smoothly. You can plainly see that it is possible to suffer from water starvation. Here is a way that you can help yourself to health, the Natural Liquid Way!

The specific reason we wrote this book was to give you the knowledge to select the right kind and amount of liquid your body so desperately needs. Here is your invitation to enjoy the natural gift of Super Health, Health and Freedom from bodily miseries through the observance of Mother Nature's and God's Eternal Laws combined with powerful self-knowledge.

Very true Ryan! Without water we die in 78 hours (some may last longer of course.) You found this great article about the importance of water. But there is a flip side to water.....I't's drinking too much water. Alot of people use water as a diet supplement. Water will fill us up, making us feel full, like we had a meal.

Also this is a pretty good site for some who may have thought about drinking way too much water, and not eating a meal.

I have done several water fasts, going up to 14 days on just water. I suffered no acute ill-affects besides the usual dotoxification symptoms that go along with water fasting. Water fasing is actually becoming recpgnized as a safe, effective means of combating obesity, migraines, diebetis, depression, fatigue, hardening of the arteries, just to name a few

Thanks Ryan. It's another reminder to me who tends to be on the dehydrated side. I've cut back a lot on salt though.

Personaly, my belief, and this is just my belief, we have to concern ourselves more with too little water in the body than too much....

However, like you said, it is possible to overdose on water, but not very likely. It is the least of my worries...

Sorry Pamela, if I had gone a day without both sex and water, I'd walk past you to go to the faucet for a drink. Then I would turn around and have a heart attack. LOL

I was in the grocery store and I found some new kind of water that claims to be better than water. A bit confusing because I thought it was all the same, but has anyone tried it? I forgot the name...

the absolute best water is distilled water in a glass bottle. Then distilled in plastic. Anything else is suspect.

    Ryan,
I am not giving you a hard time, but could you reconcile for me the logical consistancy of liking raw foods but also preferring distilled water?
Distilling water requires heating it to the boiling point (or near) and then having it evaporate and condense back to a liquid.
PS Distilling does not remove all impuities (does remove clorine and heavier minerals) but does remove disolved oxygen which gives water its flavor.

    To monty -

because it's the cleanest source of water we can get in this polluted world. It is the closest thing to water that would be found in nature.

In an ideal world we would be able to go to any lake, stream or river to get fresh water, but such is not the case - ESPECIALLY in this country.

In Iceland, they do use pure stream water as their water source, it is piped directly from the streams into homes, with no purification required.

in reguards to your question about oxygen- I doubt you could remove oxygen from water as oxygen is one of the elements that makes water !

I understand the distillation process and i know it involves heating the water, however, any water you have drank has likely been heated and frozen millions upon millions of times, I doubt one more time is going to pose a problem. The very process of evaporation and rainfall is water distillation on a grand scale. The world had a natural process of cleaning it's water supply, but like many other things, humans have disrupted it. Now you have to pay 1.25 for 20 oz. of "pure" water. Clean water should be free and extremely plentiful. I live on the hudson river, that used to be a major source of fresh, pure water for native americans. Try to drink water from it now and see what happens. It is a toxic cesspool.

I hope i have answered your question, if not, oh well.

    have you tried PENTA water
it's oxygenated and you have to drink it all at once, because opening and closing the bottle loses oxygen. if you guzzle it you can tell the difference from regular water. it kinda gives me a rush

I love water-but I think distilled water is nasty. I like that new water they have-Vitamin Water. Its that flavored water that they all have a cute little non-sense purpose like memory enhancement-LOL. I only rink Spring water or Vitamin water. I am really pikcy and won't drink any other type water.

Ryan I have to say I have to disagree with water fasting. I mean your body NEEDS food it is it's FUEL. I don't know of ANY doctor who would recommend starving yourself! I mean that is too close to Anorexia and usually how it gets started....... I am not saying water isn't important and maybe even a little more important than food but...... When you don't eat you get headaches and grouchy as all hell, not to mention your body goes into starvation mode and will STOP using your stored fat! Doctors even say those 48 hour drink diets are dangerous, I can IMAGINE 14 days!!!
