    Default Help me please!!!

Ok, this is weird, but i just noticed that my hair looks like it's thinning around the front and top of my head.
My mom actually is bald on top(like a man) and has to wear pieces. My sister has thinning hair and was diagnosed with Polycystic ovarian syndrome, which is the cause, also causes chin hair and acne. My mom never was tested. I don't think it should be this since I take ortho tri-cycline, and thought this should prevent hair loss. Maybe I'm just paranoid. Any one heard of this? Is ortho tri-cycline the right pill to take. I can't afford to see a specialist right now, so any info would be helpful. I'll research it on the net later, but am new to computers and don't know the best way to weed out the good info from all the crap people think they know.
Help me, help me, help me!!!!!!!!

Have you been tested for Polycystic ovarian syndrome? Maybe you should be since your sister has it. Since your on Ortho-Tri, have you discussed this with your doctor? Your doctor should be able to help answer your questions. If I'm not mistaken, Ortho has a hair loss side effect. I was on it a few years ago, but I didn't have this side effect.

I heard of Diane 35. not sold in United States. Been thinking of getting it off the net, but I'd really like opinions from people who have used it. I've been on Orth tri-cyclin for 5yrs. now. Also I remember reading in a thread a while back about some birth control pills that actually made the chest bigger. Mine never did that for me. Are these anti androgen too, and does anyone know if a side effect will make my hair fall out?
Been on ortho since about 6 mon after starting b-contrll, first two made me too moody. only orth for past 5 yrs. Could I have built up a tolerance toward the anti androgen hormones? Jesus, so many questions. Maybe I should talk to a doctor.
Man I hate going to doctor's.
I know it's for my own good .
    Thank you,
    Fawn

I'd consult a dermatologist. They do have Minoxodril for women now. It's use is limited especially if you are pregnate. The same is true of certain medications.

This stuff is usually hereditary, but not hopeless! Many women now are using Minoxidil, with great success! This is a permanent lifestyle however.

I would get checked for any Illness first. Also Birth control can cause hair lose.

DO a google and type in any info. you want about Ortho. and the illness, ect. But remember anyone can put anything on the web. So nothing beats a doc. in the future.

Also do the hair test: brush your hair 20 strokes with a clean brush, you should not have a big wad of hair in the brush. Also, to see if the strands are breaking, pull a couple out at the root, and lay them in a glass of water, they should float if the strands are healthy, sink if they are damaged. Relax, eat good foods, and don't use ponytails etc. Wash every few days. We lose about 100 or slightly more strands a day. See if you are waking up with hair on your pillow. And switch to satin pillow cases, they are easy on our hair!

    Good luck hun,
    Pamela

I agree with the Birth Control/Hairloss issue. I have a 6-month old baby girl, and just after she was born, I got a prescription for the Ortho-Evra patch. There are many pros to using it, but I did experience hair loss, even more-so than as is normal after you deliver a baby. Needless to say, I stopped it immediately, and have had no problems since. I know that a lot of the pills can cause hair loss also.

Babe, just relax. : There are two factors that may be causing you some hair loss... possible hair loss gene, and stress over possible hair loss gene.

Worst case scenerio: you have dominant hair loss gene and begin to loose hair. Fuck it, girl. Would that be the end of your life? So you wear a hair piece or extensions... lots of people do. What I worry about is your stress level, hell I can feel it through a damn computer!

r: I speak from experience here. Car accident, few years back, I don't remember a thing; but I found out afterwards how vain I really was (am). Before I went through the windshield, my reflex must have been to cover my face, because I lost half a finger, my watch went through my wrist leaving horrible scaring, broke the same bone in my neck that Christopher Reeve did, (C-2) and since my head did go through the windshield I've got a few bald spots from scars.
Now you wouldn't believe how vain I was! Worried about hair, finger, wearing ugly neck brace for two months, scars.... hel-fucking-lo!?!? Same exact X-ray C-2 fracture as Christopher Reeve, and not only am I perfectly fine, I'm thinking my life and career are over because of a few bald spots (actually, they had to shave and staple part of head and most of it grew back) and scars on my hands!? I wear hair extensions now and I love them. I used to put Dermablend on my wrist (front part where watch pushed through) and hide my right ring finger all the time; but now I'm over it.

So you lose some hair... it's not the end of your life nor career. You'll still be beautiful!

True, I use them too. I actually buy my pillow cases at a beauty supply store!

    Noami-
Wow, your story really puts things in perspective. :o
You are so lucky after that accident. I'm gonna remember it next time I get into a pointless vanity snit with myself.
