    Default Cold weather workouts

Well, that cold crappy time of the year is arriving in Wisconsin and I'm starting to cut back on my daily, hour long outdoor walks. I just bought a Reebok Core Board with three workout tapes and just started using it this week. (I'm excited, and can't wait to see what kind of results it delivers!) [clap]

Besides all of that though, I'm just curious what you cold weather ladies do for at home exercises in a somewhat limited living area. I do have a gym mebership, but until I get back into serious weight training, it'll be awhile before I use it. So let me know what's working for you! I also have a Pilates crystal egde ball, free weights, and a 10 lb medicine ball if you have any suggestions for those.

    Thanks ladies!

Whatever you do make sure you wear warm clothing and do an appropriate warm up period. If you become idle anytime during your workout the clothing will retain muscle warmth.
Warming up slowly lubricates your joints, stretches your muscles, prevents strains or sprains, increases blood flow, dialates the arteries, and prepares you for activity.
Grapplers wear sweatshirts under their outfits. This helps them stay warm, sweat, lose weight and gain muscle all at the same time.

And also along with what Dreamer said, if you are in very cold and windy conditions, put a thin layer of vaseline on your face for skin protection. The wind will not chap your skin while using vaseline. PS lips also.

Well i like to use the Reebok Step arobics Workout. I do it in my living room and its great for the butt! I also have a step machine which cost me like £30, a cross trainer (never use it though) and i rowimg machine (don't use that either!) i also like the ti-bo workout video.

I have a selection of work out videos and weights for those times when i'm too lazy to get my ass down to the gym.... they work for me!

I'm in Chicago and it is really cold right now. However, I just started running today. By the time I am finished running in the cold I am hot and sweaty.

The first thing that came to mind was bundle up in warm clothes! It's good for you. I have no excuse for being lazy cause I live in Central Florida where it's always warm. My routine for the winter is to watch what I eat a lot so when Thanksgiving,Christmas, and New Years Eve comes around I can pig out and have fun. Diet is really important for me anyways, and not Diet Diet but Diet as in daily intake of food.

Well Meagan i do not know your personal tollerance to cold weather...but I really LOVE walking when it's colder(no bees lol) and when it snows. Walking in a state park(or local) when the weather is colder/snowing provides you with all the space to yourself! Plus you burn more calories in cold weather versus warmer temps(body has to make heat and provide you energy to walk). I wear ear muffs, along with a coat(obviously) and just enjoy the tranquility of nature without all those other folks!

I don't mind it once I'm outside, but the motivation to get there in this cold dreariness is the real toughie.

TotalGym (the one promoted by Chuck Norris) does absolute wonders for me ! It's really affordable too compared to BowFlex and or 6 months worth of Gym membership.

Power/Ashtanga yoga and pilates DVD's or tapes. PM me if you want the list of the best ones.

Weirdly enough I walk more when it's cold. It's true that its hard to get motivated to get out when it's grey an dreary, but once I start walking and warm up, it gets really exhilirating, I feel those endorphins flowing, and like I'm accomplishing something. So, I do 2 hours a day in the fall/winter.

Jump Rope if you have the area for it, really works.

Step ups are an excellant way of keeping your calves toned, and is shape.

Also, I'd suggest if your into Cardio Kick Boxing at all; buying a set of Bas Rutten work out tapes. They are an excellant way to wear yourself out, and stay in shape.
