Default Taking care of your skin?

I feel a bit odd asking this as a man, but since you ladies put up with smoke-filled rooms every night you work and girls aren't the only ones that want to stay looking young, here goes.

What do you use on your skin (face) to keep yourself looking young? I am 27, get told I look younger, and want to keep it that way LOL

    I smoke a pack+ a day and drink occasionally.

    Thanks.

    E

I use a vitmain A moisturizer. I don't use sunscreen since my foundation already has it in it, but you should probably be using one. My absolutely favorite skin care line is Serious Skin Care which is sold on HSN (hsn.com) and it sounds weird to a lot of people to be so devoted to a skin care line that is sold on TV, but that whole line is awesome.

As if I didn't feel fruity enough asking this, it's been moved to BODY BUSINESS.

Hey girls, let's take care of our bodies! (said with a lisp )

Thanks for your response, I will check that stuff out. I just don't want this smoking and drinking to bite me in the ass and go from looking 24 to 37 in the next couple years.

I think your best bet would be to quit smoking and lower the drinking (as if you didn't already know ). It has much more benefits than skin care too. Coming from a non-smoking woman, I would never date a smoker either. Are you motivated yet?

Never let your face get dry. Moisturize, especially before bed, and wear SPF everyday. Use an exfoliating scrub once or twice a week. Nivea has a mens' line that my fiance uses.

I think its very attractive when a man likes to take good care of himself (not gay!).

Most girls wash their face everynight to remove make-up. Maybe that would be a good idea for you, too. That would remove some of the smoke residue, instead of letting it soak into your face all night.

Eibon but thats what smoking and drinking do. No amount of moisture you put back in your skin will prevent those tiny lines around the lips that will form. And lots of water is needed to keep you hydrated from the alcohol.

Wish you could quit. Breathing it in, in clubs was bad enough, but puffing causes lines to form.

Aside from that, lots of water, to keep the kidneys flushed and you hydrated. And Retin A (or a cousin product) which is the only known prescribed product that actually will reverse small lines on the face, and help prevent new ones from forming.

PS only prescribed if the doctor sees skin damage etc. Not usually for a 27 year old unless you have acne.

    Good luck hun,
    Pamela

Hey Eib, you want to look younger longer? Stop smoking! All the cosmetic products on the market cannot reverse the damage from that.

Pamela's got it...and i resound the water thing!!! i drink close to 1/2, to a gallon a day(a bit o' the water junkie )lol, anyway that will take the edge off any 'beverages' consumed. The smoking will dry/dehydrate the skin, also something concerning certain chemicals in cig's...so try to quit(or, like i did, quit, but on OCCASION will allow myself one or two) that way on a daily basis i am NOT smoking, but allow my previous habit a 'place' in my life...as to feel like i am still able to be decadent...

I usually only drink once a week, if that, but I would think if I get the DJ job I want, then drinking would be a nightly occurence on the job. The smoking... well that's over a pack a day

If you were here live perhaps you could motivate me LOL

I have run into girls that say they wouldn't date a full-time smoker... one of them is always bumming a drag from me.

I use Cetaphil soap for sensitive skin, as that's all I -can- use. I have rosacea... I don't get red all over my face but I do get some of the milder side effects (tiny broken veins, etc.). It's no fun, let me tell you. I don't think it affects my appearance that much but it's still not nice to see that when you look in the mirror.

I try to drink lots of water, but end up drinking COKE instead. I'll have to try harder

And you and my mom both wish I would quit LOL

Oh and about RETIN A - my god! I had acne as a kid, not terrible, but a fairly strong case. I got a RETIN A prescription and that shit felt like it was eating away my skin. I can't even use regular soap on my face, much less that poison

    I think I'm detecting a theme here :o

That's the problem. I am really a tobacco addict! Like some people are addicted to booze or cocaine, I can drink and stop whenever I want, I tried the latter one time and never tried it again even though I liked it... but with smokes, I can barely go an hour without one :-/

Thanks for the advice ladies. And I'm surprised more of you don't smoke. Almost every girl in the club I want to work at smokes. I will be stopping in there tonight to get an update on the DJ job situation... it doesn't look good though.

I guess out west where I am smoking is more popular than in many other parts of the country. They still allow smoking in almost all the bars and some of the restaurants.

    DON'T SMOKE

it's been said I know but not only does it stress out you face and leave it looking like a leather boot, it stresses out our skin too (oh, and did I mention that I'm a non-smoker?)! Not to mention that dancing for smokers is a whiffy business but that's not the issue of this post...

    CUT DOWN ON ALCOHOL!

note that I didn't say 'altogether'. Sometimes it can be beneficial in small doses but also read the ingredients. Some tipples are stuffed with additives and E-numbers that are AWFUL for you. So beware!

    OK, I'm done now.

Oh, and moisturise lots. I love cocoa butter. I slap it on and let the skin absorb it. It makes you feel so smooth and you smell yummy!

hey Eibon! There are some very cool wonders like Botox aNd macrodermabrasion. those treatments can take off a couple of years! And so it does not sound so hopeless, ask your doctor about smoking cessation combined with Wellbutrin. Quite effective! they go over behaviour modification with you too. Makes a BIG difference in teeth, scent, cardiovascular health.....etc., ad nauseum.

Go for it babe! It's a hardcore accomplishment.
