    Hi,
unfortunately they are traditionnally very harc to keep toned but.... you can do something about it!
You can add muscle on the external/internal abductor.
You can work them by pushing your legs on the side with some weights or pulling toward the inside.
    That really works.
You can also buy " look great naked" on WWW.Amazon.com
or visit WWW.MUSCLEMAG.COM for some good tips!

The butt and thighs are the trouble zones for most women. Our bodies like to store fat there! Yuck!

Lifting weights, cardio, and eating right is the quickest way to get rid of unwanted fat. To firm up that area do lunges w/ wts., squats w/ wts., leg press, hip abductor and hip adductor. Lift heavy to failure. No, you will not get bulky. That takes years of heavy lifting and perfect diet and in some cases supplements and other drugs. Use heavy enough weights that you can only do 10-12 reps for 3 sets. Cardio and eating right will get rid of the fat that cover your muscles.

The machines don't work well. If you want great results, you need to use free-wieghts!! The best thing to do for the hamstrings/quads/glutes are squats!! I would suggest working with a personal trainer for a couple of sessions to get down the form. Good luck!!

I think machines are good for beginners because they help you keep good form. I use a combination of machines and free weights for my entire body. Hammerstrength is my favorite machine brand. I do love free weights though!

I do not know if you would like videos but one thing that worked for me is Tae Bo. Seriously Billy Blanks kicks your ass. I'm not really a complainer when it comes to excerise but I seriously dread this video sometimes!! But it makes such a diffrence in your butt thigh area! No equipment to use but it is very effective. Try the first advanced tape. It has 30 of cardio but a twenty minute toning section which is very hard. He also has other great tapes like Ultimate lower body and butt. Get those you wont be sorry!

I believe another avenue is diet. Eating certain foods (high natural carbs, carrots, fruits (not melons), and fish will help the elasticity in your skin and pull skin taught throughout your whole body...lots of water...

I agree! Free weights dont work for me - I have really bad form- the machines pretty much keep your form in check.

actually, your diet contends for about 80% of how you look. Kobi is right on-- eat about 6 small protein packed meals a day, do cardio, and the fat really will melt off. if you do this in addition to a consistent weight training routine for your lower body you will be tight and toned in no time!! good luck bambi

How about taking a dance class? Look for adult ballet or jazz/modern classes in your area. This could be a fun way to get your buns in shape!
Eyeliner and charisma go a long way!

thanks for all the info. i think more cardio is going to be my key to shrinking my lower body. i eat a fairly decent diet, but of course i love chocolate and snacks. reducing these even more is going to be hard, but i'm looking to get leaner the older i get.

That would work in the same sense any cardio would work, combined with a healthy diet and using it regularly. I like the fact that it has no hand rails. Using your balance will work more muscles and its a fact that after a certain age our sense of balance starts to go away unless we keep working it.

I saw the commercial for the thigh trainer today on tv and I liked it because it's a small compact machine, easy to use, works your waist as well as your thighs since you are twisting as you work the thighs, and it's affordable. I would like to get this item myself! =)

On the infomercial they said that if you need the support of holding onto something during the exercise, you can stick it between a doorway and hold onto the walls.

is there any good dance moves/exercises I can do on stage for butt/thighs? I dance very athletically and do moves on stage that tone my stomach but I cant tone my butt for some reason because I don't have time to go to the gym at all since I dance during the day as well as night 6 days a week. I walk a lot though
