    Default Period Pain from Hades

    Hi.

Well, this sucks. I I manage to escape PMS for the most part, but the real crazy pain and moodswings come on the first day of my period. My lower abdomen gets extremely tender, and my back is sore. I can barely move. Generally I try to take aspirin with tea to see if that helps. Or I take "nature's medicine". But the pain still gets bad. Birth controls actually make it worse. How do you girls deal?

I make sure to get lots of calcium throughout the month.

Check out the post titled "Calcium" it is in the Body Business, General, and General Ladies only boards. You would be surprised the difference it makes.

I noticed that when I cut down on caffeine, sodium and increase water before the big day, I suffer less cramps. Also, you could try getting yourself off to get temporary relief. Seriously, it works.

Yes caffeine is a bad one for us ladies about to get our periods. Up the calcium, and Midol does work for cramps. At times move around, it's actually good for cramps! Yoga stretches, etc. I used to lay down and suffer, then i read try moving around. I do now, and it works sometimes!

Then a nice warm bath, followed with a warm heat pad. (yes, rest too.)

But calcium is becoming a populour topic in the news for us ladies, for many reasons! Keep a healthy intake of calcium in our bodies at all times. PS there are some PMS remedies over the counter. Ask the pharmacy.

What I do is make sure I'm exercising the whole month. If I slack off I can tell by how bad the pms is. I like to take long walks while I'm on it and stretch alot too. Followed by taking my vitamins daily and a water pill daily for the 5 days. Also I crave chocolate and that always makes me feel a little better. Followed by being difficult. hehe

Are you on the pill? Because before I was, I had the same problem. Cramps so bad that I had to take codone III to get rid of the pain. Ibuprofen didn't do anything.

    To reiterate...calcium. Take it anyway.
If you're like me, you're comatose until your second cup of coffee, so cutting back caffeine never works. A long walk is what I normally do. It keeps my focus on something other than my uterus.
    Hope this helps.
