Wow! I went in today!!! The first shock was kind of scarey. Bright light! It felt like I touched a hot pan. Oh, and I could smell the hair burning. Now it's all falling out... $200. Oh, I also found out why it takes more than one session. There are dormant hairs that grow after the first ones are killed so it takes another session to kill those (about 2 months later) and any other sessions if they've missed any spots or if there are any stubborn hairs. I'm so happy! This is going to make my life so much easier! And save so much time! [blob]

Did you get it all off? Is every session the same price? I am contemplating this myself.

No, I left a strip. I don't want to be old and blad down there. And, if I change my mind I can just have it removed. The first one is 200 and they knock down the price more and more everytime you get a session.

    Congratulations.

I can't wait to get it done too. I need to call some places and check on prices to see if I can afford it or if I'll have to save up since I am not yet dancing.

Trust me, it was bareable, the pain was very short. Didn't throb afterwards like getting a wax.

Look in the phone book under hair removal or electrolysis.

I have an appointment for a consultation next Thursday.

haha. i could smell the hairs burning when i did it too. yup it takes more than 1 session because the hair grows in 3 stages.

update: the hair i got lasered off has now fallen out!! it is nice and smooth down there (except for the little strip i left.) bella i agree with you-- i didnt wanna get it ALL off, but if i change my mind i can just go get the strip lasered off too.

How about duh? Don't mean to be rude so please take it as the joking banter that it was meant to be.

Remember, us girls have to take into consideration our periods whenever we do anything.

I was just wondering, does anyone know if this is tax deductable? Melonie?

I'm not Melonie, but I know what she'd say....it's not since it doesn't pass the Housewife Test (basically if it's something a housewife would have done, then no....like moderately-sized implants, nails, hair, makeup, etc.)

This is something I'm considering doing, so thanks for the info!

On dollar den some say certain things like nails, clothes, shoes, makeup, implants, etc. are deductible, and some say they aren't. I think the best advice on this subject is to seek out a tax adviser who understands our line of work to find out what qualifies and what doesn't.

Yea, I was talking to some girls in my club and THEY'RE implants were deductable and I remember girls on this forum saying they weren't.. I guess it depends on what state your in? So I guess it's deductable in CA? Lukily my fave customer is sort of an infamous tax attorny who said he would do mine "for fun". SCORE! One, me.

While differing states may allow different things as deductions, I think it may just depend on who you go to do your taxes as well.

I don't know how one would go about finding a good person (guess we should ask Melonie, she seems to be the resident expert) but I think asking your club who does their taxes may be a start.

It was discussed in the Dollarden a while back why you should not use your club's accountant. There is also advice in here about choosing an accountant.

I've been wanting to do it, but I thought it was more expensive than that, like $200 each session needed. Still, it would probably be worth it even if it was. LeeBird, maybe you could start looking for highly accredited dermatologist. That's where I was looking.

One more question to the girls that have had it done, well 2 ?'s. 1st, how many days did it take to heal? 2nd, did you need to apply some type of cream, maybe aloe vera or some type of sunburn remedy to the area for relief? or, Aaaah! Perhaps an ice pack for kitty.

hhaha, an ice pack for the kitty... there wasnt much "healing" needed. just maybe a little rest and no, i didnt have to apply any cream. it was just a bit red for a short time afterwards, like i got a sunburn down there. but about 1/2 hour after it was done, the kitty was fine....purring again

The lady offered me an icepack but I didnt take her up on it, it was red for a while, don't work the same day, you COULD work the next day... maybe. She put on some cream right afterwards and that was the only thing that needed to be done to it. LeeBird, do some research online, that's how I found the place that I went to.

Thanks for your help Breanna and Bella.
For some reason I didn't even think about a dermatologist - duh! I have been looking on line, but there are so many just in Manhattan alone. If I find someone good here, I'll post back and let everyone know.

I live in the SF Bay area and can recommend a great place here, if anyone is interested. It was definitely the best money I ever spent! I only had 2 treatments done and my bikini line is thinner by at least 70 %. Love it!
