besides MAC? I love the MAC brushes but not the price, even with the PPID discount.

Sonia Kashuk has some seriously great high quality brushes for low prices. you can get them all at Target!!! they really are worth so much more than the price.

the best brushes I have come across have been by Trish McEvoy. These are an excellent investment, I think. Just don't buy brushes you won't need. Sales prople have a way of doing that, especially at Saks!

You need to prove that you are in the entertainment industry. I used my entertainer's permit also if you've done any print work I think they'll accept that. There's an annual fee now of $35 but you save 30% on everything...

i really like Smashbox makeup brushes. i get them at Sephora. they are kinda expensive, but they are quality brushes. i figure i will spend the extra little bit of $$ on quality brushes, rather than buying shitty ones and having them break, then having to buy new ones again.

I've been a makeup artist for 6 years and I think I have every brush made by every makeup line in the world! LOL...okay, well not *every* line, but close to it...and I'd have to agree with Juliette - Trish McEvoy makes superior brushes -
But different brushes are different line by line - for example I like Kevyn Aucoin's powder blush but don't like his angle brush - so I prefer Smashbox's #12 for the angle brush, I like Trish's lip liner brush, but prefer Bobbi Brown's wet/dry brush, etc..
As for the PPID card from MAC, they have been making it harder to get lately- I had to show my modeling portfolio, a letter/invoice from a job that I did, and a business card.
    Also,
I have found that Ebay is the best discount of them all, actually! If you time it right and find the good deals, it's great!

But who knows - sometimes it is different store by store -I did it through corporate, rather than the store. .. so just show up with something, and see what the manager says.

For face powder and blush, I've always used Revlon's brushes. Still experimenting with eye make-up brushes.

Hey, Sapphire: You may want to check with your local MAC store/counter. I was in there the other day buying more make-up (can you ever have too much??). I told my Josh (he's the only person I go to cuz he's the best) that I needed new brushes, but didn't want to work for the next 8 months paying them off (they sell them in singles). He told me to wait until the 28th of October because MAC will be coming out with a SET of brushes that is supposed to be a little less expensive than buying them one at a time. Add that with the discount...it may be worth it. If I am not mistaken, the brush set/combo will only be available to entertainers...I'll keep everyone posted on that!!

Damn I was going to say MAC. That was my first guess. I know their expensive but if you take care of em' they'll last forever.
