    Default Cellulite

Hmm. Well, here I am, stripping for 2 months, and the more I look at myself the more stuff I find that I didn't notice before and don't like. I think if people are looking at my ass all the time it should be a bit more attractive, even if it has apparently done business no ill so far and must therefore not be too obvious. (It's obvious to ME though) I have read something about cellulite being a result of excess estrogen, and something else about it being absolute normal no matter what (like brown hair vs blonde). Well, I don't know about that so much. I'm not a doctor. But I know that I am in target weight range and would probably be a little scary if I were any thinner, and I'm in shape, so it's neither of those problems. I was wondering if this was an appearance issue that anyone else has tried to improve, what methods you tried, and whether or not it's done any good.

Like a car, hail damage can be smoothed out with a little buffing from an expert. They basically get this machine that massages your ass. Not sure how much it costs though.

Cut down on caffeine and alcohol, drink TONS of water and try body brushing. A week or so of that is night and day.

I'm also hearing raves about the Avon firming lotion. I haven't tried it yet but I haven't heard a girl who's used it complain about it. It's like $15 so what could it hurt?

Of course, remember, too that almost all women have or will have at least a tiny bit of cellulite and you may be noticing something no one else does! Remember when they broadcasted the Victoria's Secret Fashion show and even someof the models had cellulite?

Last resort is a new surgery for it but I can't remember the name right now.

I don't think any lotions will help get rid of cellulite. From what I've heard they mask cellulite by plumping up the skin.

The only way to effectively get rid of cellulite is to build up the muscles underneath. I have done this myself. No you don't have to get any thinner, but changing your bodyfat % should help. Turn five lbs. of fat into five lbs. of muscle and you will notice a significant difference. Most women get cellulite on the back of their thighs and their rear, so I focused on my hamstrings and my glutes. I got rid of the cellulite on my hams 3 years ago and it has never come back. The cellulite on my butt shows slightly if I am in an unflattering position.

Most women have cellulite, some to different degrees. The women who never have cellulite are the bodybuilders with 3% bodyfat and you don't want to be that lean.

Cellulite is a fat cell that has an impermeable cell wall. There are treatments for it. Some use snake venome. Ask a skin specialist.

What?? Yummmm... snake venom... I'll get right on that

Anyway, yeah the lotions effect no permanent change but if it is a temporary fix you are looking for in the meantime I think they are worth a try... you just *always* have to use them. Once you stop, your cellulite comes back.

Body brushing is taking a sort of natural bristle brush and dry brushing your skin. It helps keep fluid from building up/lymphatic drainage AND it is a great skin exfoliation method. Take long strokes. Start at your feet, brushing up your legs and thighs. Work in circular movements over the tummy, then do hands and arms, back and across the shoulders. Use gentle downward strokes on your neck, throat and chest. You want to be going towards your heart.

It is, btw, another thing you have to keep up to help but it really does help. Your skin will look really good if nothing else

I think it is common sense that this sort of stuff should be used in conjunction with Kobi's advice.

I really have to agree with Kobi. I've been studying women's health and nutrition for years now and the only defense against cellulite is fitness and and nutrition. I know a quick fix is what we'd all like, but that's just not possible. Save your $$ on the "quickies" and just focus on being a healthy, fit person. LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of water, and definately plenty of firming excersices targeting that specific area. It takes patience and dedication. But it's the best defense in the long run.

Laughter, I just wanted to observe that you used to be a dancer... right? I think i remember you saying somethign about that. So, you're not imagining this cellulite are you? I know how strict dancers are supposed to be with their diets and bodies (NO I'm not implying anything!!!) I just know that they don't have dark lighting like strippers do to hide things, you're in a leotard in normal lighting with no heels and mirrors all around. I know I couldn't handle that.

Okay, that said, yes exersize totally HELPS and so could the lotions but it'll never completely go away, I've noticed that the club lighting hides all that stuff anywaz. Guys are not looking for flaws. They're looking at your boobs, your hips, your face, your hair. [boobies]I mean, naked chicks are the norm for US to see all the time But other guys who make it in like twice a week are so impressed that we're gettin' naked [dazzled]... okay I'm blabering I'll stop

I disagree. Although it may be hard to get rid of and even harder for others, I think it can go away. It just depends on how much time and effort you want to spend on getting rid of the cellulite. It also may mean a lot of sacrifices such as being too lean, and all the sacrifices that go along with that. It also depends on your body type. I realize that I am lucky, I didn't have to get too lean for the cellulite on my thighs to completely go away, but I do watch what I eat and I have been working out regularly for four years. I do have a few dimples on my butt when I flex, but that is much better than what it was before I started training. I know I can get rid of those if I work harder. Saying that cellulite will never go away makes people not want to try. It is like saying you can't be thin because you've had kids.

Hmm, well I'm no doctor but from many sources I've heard that it will never go away. Yes, you can make it less noticeable when you lose weight or get a tan. But, it's always there, there's just less total body fat and it shrinks. When you squeeze your butt or thighs, you can still see it, you just have to look really really hard.
So... I'm not saying not to try because trying will help, I was just saying not to worry too much.

P.S. People with kids can be thin

Re: Body Brushing, I just use a natural bristle brush I bought at Wild Oats Natural Supermarket. You do it dry (dry skin and brush). They are usually just called a body brush. Basic directions are in my above post.

I think it really helps and I remember Pamela mentioning that she did it too and had good results in another thread. For more info you can always just search online for the info, that's how I figured it out.

    I agree with kobi!!
It can disapear, if you exercise in order to tone the problem areas!!
I'm in better shape now than when I started modelling ten years ago....and I had a kid!!
    Tone, build muscle, lift heavy!!

Veronika; body (actually leg brushing) brushing is a trick you learn when you start modelling. It makes the fluids flows freely in your veins.....It's good for heavy, painfull legs.

Yup, and traditional dancing, like ballet. I was never told that when I modelled here in the states but my friend was when she was sent to Greece for an assignment.

BTW, I've seen many a professional ballerina with cellulite and we are talking young women with low body fat and a high percentage of lean muscle. Of course it wasn't that bad but it was there.

Oh, Sandrine... since you are our French correspondent do you know anything about all that water therapy that the fashion magazines always tout as reducing cellulite and overall body weight? I'm curious... It just sounds iffy to me so I want the scoop, heh.

Oh yes Veronika i almost forgot i mentioned that. But i do it! Skin brushing dry skin. Also i take a bread pin (you know the roller kind) and roll it up and down the backs of my thighs, i can feel deep inside if i push hard enough the bumps (fat) YUK. Hey it works! But you have to be consistant.

Hey. Thanks, everyone. That's a lot more info and ideas than I had before. Besides, I'm a sucker for massages and snuggles... the brushing and rolling actually sounds kind of nice... maybe I can get my SO to do it for me! Ha! and extra exercise is always good for you. Probably shouldn't have stopped working that portion out to begin with. And in regards to one of the things Bella said; I'm not imagining it. Maybe enhancing a little, but it's there. I do imagine other things... (like a pouchie tummy!) and it's good to keep in mind that I see things other people don't or I'm exaggerating to that point. Tis isn't one of them, though. I don't think.

[ Do you mean exercise that you do in a pool???
I saw it on TV, they use a stationnary bike in a pool and it's supposed to be even harder than regular biking.
So in a reduced amount of time you burn more calories and water acts as a massage on your skin!!
Never tried it but sounds good!
If you live in a warm area I guess you can also walk in your pool with weight on your ankles.
