    Default Curly hair??

I have very curly hair (looks like spiral curls). Everyone tells me I should wear my hair straight, the only problem is that once I start sweating a little, all the hairs around my face and the back of my neck get curly. After a while, my hair takes on a life of its own. Partly curly and partly straight. :o Most of the dancers I know have super straight hair...they tell me that you make more money with straight hair because its what the customers like...

But, what do you guys think?? ???

I think that's a bunch of BS! Straight or curly hair does not determine how much money you make. Guys love curly hair just as much as they like straight hair. Everyone's different! They are probably jealous. From what I've witnessed, girls with naturally straight hair want curly hair, and girls with naturally curly hair want straight hair. We always want what we don't have, right? Personally, I have always had straight hair and I am jealous of you. Curly hair is beautiful! Plus, if all the girls have straight hair, that just makes you stand out more.

I agree with Kobi. Leaving your hair curly in a club with all straight hair is a good move. Guys like variety and will be able to pick you out easier with the curls.

I agree with Kobi all the way. Most people are seeking the things they can't have. If you already have it, they tell you to change it because they are just jealous.

I have naturally curly hair and I straighten in about half the nights I work, just for variety. I have not really seen a difference either way. I make about the same and I get compliments on my hair either way (like from guys who haven't seen me before).

When you do straighten it, the trick is to put an anti-humectant on it (repels humidity). It's not fool-proof, but it helps. Aveda makes one. It's kinda greasy, so don't go overboard.

I have curls and I straighten my hair about half the time as well. Curls can work to your advantage, believe me. In a club full of straight-haired beauties, I kinda stand out with my big blonde curls! As for straightening... if you have those "felicity curls" I would recommend going to a salon and having them straighten it with an iron and product and stuff. If you want to do it at home... try the Silky Sexy Hair products. They work the best and I have tried everything! Also, one of those HUGE round brushes- the ones that are $30 -$40. Like.. 6 inches or something. LIFESAVERS!

Thanks for the replies!! I love this board!! It's nice to be able to talk to other dancers about this stuff and know you'll get an honest answer (some of the dancers by me act so catty sometimes). I think I am going to go the curly route. I have medium sized round/spiral curls...it takes a ton of time out of getting ready.

    Thanks, again everyone!!! =)

The cool thing about straighening your hair is that the style last two days with a tiny touch up. You really have to start fresh with wet hair if you do curly that day....so you can save some time with straight. Also, a good straigtener will cut a lot of time our of the job. I like both.

And yes, I love this board too. it makes sense that the girls you work with are catty....you're in competition! We're all on the same page here...have nothing to lose by helping each other.

I'm doing curly tonight, especially since I see the clouds coming in.

I am curly headed too, but I always straighten it. I see a big difference in my earning personally. I do sweat on stage, which makes the curls even springier and poofy. My hair is wicked curly though. I end up looking like Jimmy Page.

It totally depends on the club. In most clubs I leave it curly or enhance it a little bit to set me apart from all the straight haired blonds. In some clubs messy curls just won't work and I straighten it and curl the ends.

I am commenting on this thread because I was just having this very conversation with a fellow stripper friend of mine today, and I would like to know if opinions have changed any in the year since this thread was started.

She and I are both biracial, 1/2 black/1/2 white. She straightens her hair, I don't. My hair is super curly...I'll attach a pic. She swears she makes more money when her hair is straight. So now I'm considering it, even though I adore my curls, and getting ready for work is sooooo easy with curly hair. I see girls running into the dressing room and flatironing their hair in between every set. Also, I cannot use chemicals on my hair...it is really baby fine despite the curls, and gets totally fried if I try to permanently straighten it.

Opinions? Sorry about the toplessness. I hate having my pic taken, and it's the only one I've got that has my face in it.

    hey girl,
I think you should try it and see if it works for you! If it doesn't, leave it curly and no harm done. Use krems wet dry iron or chi.

I use to straighten the heck out of my hair for work and THOUGHT it brought me more money until i curled it. Spirals from the bottom.

I have stick straight hair, and wave it for body/curls. I made money when i danced 4 nights a week with straight or curls, no difference.

You know what it is? Straight irons are in, so along with that comes straight hair. If curls are in, that would be the "in thing."

Test it out. Go with you're curly hair a few nights, and go with straight hair a few nights. See who (customers) says what about you're hair. You will fijnd out that way.

BUT curls or straight, no big deal. It's all BS.

Thanks for your reply Pamela...we'll see what happens. I highlighted it, (yikes, I look like a tiger, but that is another thread ) and am going to wear it straight today on the noon-8 shift at my club. I'll report back. snork!

Okay, day one of straight hair. First of all, I have to admit, I look SMOKIN' with the highlights and the straight hair. I wanna fuck my own self. Now then, we were really slow today, but I sold my ass off, so I made the same amount I would have made on a busy day. And the sales were really easy, no teeth pullers. Was it because of the way I looked, or just my confidence in myself? It's hard to tell. I got a lot of compliments on my looks today, with several customers commenting that I looked "exotic", which I think is funny, because I always associate curly dark hair with exotic, not straight light hair.

Lightening my hair made me look more tan, so I was able to go with lighter makeup application and colors, and I think that made me look younger.

All in all, I pronounce today a success, if only cause I look like a babe

I love your curly hair VG!! Its so pretty! I wish my hair would tame its self like that. I think your locks are fine the way they are. I have very curly hair too; never cute to wear down gets all AFROy. Not cute at all for me.
But, I suggest you try some anti-frizz stuff with silicone in it such as Sebastian Laminates. Kind of waxy though. Or a product called Phyto it can be found at Sephora. Worked nicely on my hair and made it alot less frizzy even when I made it straight. OOO OO OO I forgot try Frederick Fekkai (sp?) olive oil products they make your hair soft, good smelly, and no frizzy. Ive tried everything under the sun to make my curls look like curls. Fortunately, you are blessed with prety put together curls. Better show em off.
On the other question about straight vs. curly for work I always straighten it made me feel more confident.

That is some BS girl. I have the same hair...long blond big natural spiral curly hair, and I get more compliments from men and woman than I can count...even in non club places (grocery, night clubs, even other dancers) and even when I have put no effort in and just put it in a ponytail running errands. I have had my hairdresser straighten it a few times just to see, and 1st it never lasted throughout the night, but also I just didn't feel like myself. Straight hair just doesn't fit my personality if that makes any sense...I am wild and untamable like my curls and I found straight hair inhibited me a bit. Given, I think straight or wavy hair is beautiful on some...just not me. I have been told by a few, and I also feel, curly tussled hair always looked like you just got f$%$ked. Makes you look like you aren't so perfectly put together that you wouldn't be up for a good wrestle or roll in the sack. What could be sexier than that, and why look like everybody else. Use what you got girl!!!!!

Okay, so far, still making more money with the straight hair. I think the difference between my sitch and that of Goldilocksgirly is one of ethnicity. Guys can pretend to themselves that I am some exotic blend rather than plain old black/white biracial as long as my hair is straight and lighter. That's my theory anyway, I haven't asked any of the custys I have gotten several comments this week though from the custys i.e. "oh your hair is so pretty", "I like your soft straight hair" etc.

Here's a blurry pic LOL...I soooo suck at taking pics of myself

Oh Flame i DO like you're hair this way. Glad you are banking with the straight hair. Sometimes customers like to see us do many different styles, and this must be a big change for you! Lighter, and straight. Looks beautiful!

Hmm, I don't know. I can't tell. I get compliments either way, but I THINK I actually make more money with it straight. I think. Lots of people think it's naturally straight, because when I wear it curly they are amazed that the wild Slash-type head of curls are actually natural. And they say, "I thought your hair was straight." Not by far. I have noticed that when I do wear my curls, people like me less when they start getting frizzy (duh), and when I refresh them, people seem to like me more? So be sure to keep those gorgeous ringlets fresh.
