Default brunettes keeping their dark color

Do very dark brunettes usually look better, healthier or perhaps younger when you have a few lighter brown colored strands in the front by your face?

Or should very dark brunettes keep their dark color all around to keep the whole brunette mystique image thing?

I vote ... different strokes for different folks, ya know, on this one. One of my exes LOVED that I did the whole cameleon thing... dark hair in winter and with blonde streaks in summer (from the sun, not bleach), but I have another guy friend who always gets sad when my hair gets darker. He's into the very dark hair very pale skin thing. Seems like it would be comparable to, some guys like blondes, some like brunettes. Some like feet, some like boobs... I would do what YOU like. So long as your hair looks nice and cared for and not fakey either way.

I'm a dark brunette & keep it this way just because I hated getting the highlights done over & over since my hair grows so fast!

I agree w/ Laughter though- different strokes (or streaks for that matter) for different folks. I liked having light caramel streaks, and it gave me more of a rock & roll look. I do get more compliments on my hair, though, when it's all natural & dark.

Actually for the caramel color, I would use a few very thin bonded extention pieces in the front so i wouldn't have to color the hair.

Would the couple strands of caramel make you appear younger?

-or- do you think one solid dark color is more striking?

I use a henna wash on my dark auburn hair that just makes it pick up the light a little more - I like it.

Brunette hair is beautiful! I have pictures of me in the gallery with the colour, but it was put on over my blonde, so i let it fade out, and went back blonde. (i do better as a blonde.)

But back to hair colour.....a healthy brunette colour is a mix of different tones. Thats what we have as children, our natural hair is a mix of different colours. I think when one is solid dark all over the head it's very fake looking. And the same for blondes, we need lighter colours, mainly near our face and darker blonde underneath for example.

Look at virgin brunette hair in natural light, it reflects all colours of brown. Beautiful! And so does blonde. When i went brunette, i mixed 2 different colours to get that look. Now back to blonde i streak different colours of blonde through my hair.

And yes, lighter around the face always looks natural, but stick with 1 shade lighter.

    Good luck,
    Pamela

I've been all over the brunette spectrum and even though i'm trying it dark this winter, I think caramelly colors streaked in looks the best. I used to have my stylist paint in two different colors. Light brown and lighter brown by my face and on the top and I would leave my hair (which is normally darkish brown) its orginal color on the bottom. I think I got better feedback from that style. The best thing for you to do is try different stuff and see what works best on you!
