    Default LIPO Advice

Recently the subject of lipo has been brought up!!
My first thought was hey i'm not 300 pounds why would I need it! But then i really started thinking. I might like it. Do a lot of people around my weight (5'4" 155-160lb) get liposuction?
Are the results worth it? Does it last? Do you gain the fat back easily or in other places?
I don't know much about it ???...so anyone speak up!

I did it! Here are my pictures: http://www.beautyaddiction.com/befor...ancer/lipo.htm
The results are supposed to last as long as you don't overeat. When you do gain weight it will first go to spots that haven't been lipo'd. Here is a detailed account of my experience: http://www.beautyaddiction.com/forum...rumID2/10.html

The lipo will give you bruises for about two weeks. Most surgeons will tell you that he is reluctant to zap away all the fat in a certain area. Mine said if he is too agressive on a certain spot, there will be rippling and the area will not look good so thats one thing to watch out for. Too agressive =ripples Not agressive enough=a little fat left over. For an area like the tummy, even a little left over is not perfection. I was disappointed because I thought, it was so easy to have sucked that little bit off too. Whatever the case may be, it looks better than before. When i first got it done, i thought i'll never do it again. Now that i have forgotten about how I couldn't get into bed without help, I am saving up to get more done. I am about 115lbs. (was also 115 lbs befoe my lipo last year too). I am not fat but i want to know i did everything possible to look my best. got my upper arms, inner thighs and belly done. I really could not get out of bed without it hurting. it really really hurts. Imagine how much it hurts to use the washroom. I had to pay an extra thousand bucks for an overnight stay and I was glad I did. They even hooked me up to this drip to keep my hydrated.
With lipo, i figure i better get it done sooner than later. I mean in my logic if i got older, i may get fat. By then, even if i did get lipo, i'll have loose skin.
At the same time, i am doing something i shouldn't do. I have not been working out lately in anticipation of my next lipo. its like getting my money's worth and also if i work out too much, i'm afraid they won't be able to get to the fat cells as well. I've heard there are only so many fat cells in the body and when a person is fat, the number of cells stay the same but they just swell up. I want them to be able to locate the fat at least. I'm afraid when I get older, the metabolism slows down so i want to see what my problem areas are now so I can prevent major damage.

I've had tummy lipo a couple of times to remove fat cells trapped by scar tissue from my C-section. It definitely works well, but it's really uncomfortable recovering from the surgery for 2-4 weeks. Everything wants to swell up from the lipo surgery so they usually make you wear a tight elastic body girdle to keep you from swelling up like the Willy Wonka Blueberry Girl.

I consulted a surgeon about having it done and he told me I'm the perfect candidate because I'm not trying to lose weight. I am about 100 pounds but have those stubborn thighs that won't go away! I never did have it done though so I can't tell you about the pain. He did say my body could redistribute where i collects fat though and I'd be right back in his office wanting more.

I had lipo 2years ago and I was not overweight. I was 5'8" 124 but I had two small bulges on the hip that would not leave. I gained the weight back but i gained it evenly instead of bulges. Most of the weight goes to my butt now when before I never even had a butt!!!! This is good and bad though - my body has taken on a different shape then is the past

Wow, yea I saw a talk show once (actually lots of shows on this stuff). And there are really so many things that can go wrong and you guys already mentioned gaining it back in the wrong places. If you need to lose a lot of weight that stomach staple thing works so good, I've known people that've done that. Ooo scarey

Wow, your results are REALLY great, and the price was fantastic. In many pics I have seen, women come out looking a tiny bit different but your results were very impressive, back and front! Congrats!

its funny you should say if you arent 300 lbs you shouldnt need it..because the BEST lipo candidates are the ones actually closest to their ideal weight.

Lipo is not meant as a means to lose weight but only to contour. It cant remove deep fat, only the kind that is right beneath the skin. When you go to a dr for a consult be prepared for them to suggest diet and exercise if your goal is to lose sizes and weight, because they usually dont take out more than a few lbs.

Swelling can be horrible and your clothes might not fit for several weeks and you have to severely restrict salt from your diet or pay the price.

Every one is different as far as where and if they gain weight back...a lot of people find that stubborn spots respond more quickly to diet and exercise post lipo since there are less fat cells there.

still, if yo are looking to lose more than 5 lbs or a few sizes and want to tone up, i would recommend a trainer first! Lipo has the highest DISsatisfaction rate of any cosmetic procedure.

Liposuction is really for spot fat reduction rather than massive weight loss. In fact, the results tend to be better on people who are relatively slim and toned but just have thigh/stomach/whatever fat they can't budge. People who are massively obese will generally be advised to get a gastric band rather than liposuction, if we're talking surgical solutions.

The results last in that you won't gain fat back to the liposucted area. However, if you gain weight, it will be deposited somewhere else. Liposuction is therefore not a cure-all. If you're going to use it, it needs to be combined with watching your weight in general.

I got lipo to my inner thighs about 6 years ago. PS took too much fat from my right thigh and I had a nasty dent. I recently had to get a fat transfer to correct it.

The swelling is the worst part, IMO. And wearing the garment sucks. I wanted to have a burning ritual when I retired it. The pain is tolerable with a bunch of Vicodin. You will look beaten and battered. You will not be able to workout or exercise for 4-6 weeks. That includes dancing.

Many things can go wrong and especially if you are thin. Look what happened to Tara Reid's stomach. She wanted to achieve a 6 pack but instead got a completely eff'd up tummy.http://thesuperficial.com/image.php?...-bikini-11.jpg

It looks like she is still healing in that picture. It takes like 6 months to heal. 9-1 year to see a completed result.
    She doesn't look horrible there.

I'm very interested in smart lipo but I want to see some pics of results. Also, I don't know how many docs in the US do it yet.

I talked to a PS about SmartLipo and it does seem great, but he told me no! He said I wouldn't get the results I wanted from it because he wouldn't be able to take much out. It seems ideal for neck, knees and arms, not really belly, hips and thighs.

I had lipo about 4 years ago and even though the results were good, that shit does come back.I don't care what anyone says about that. Maybe not as much as before, but it still comes back and now instead of instantly going instantly to my butt and hips, some of the fat goes to the tops of my thighs. Like a reverse saddlebag almost...awesome.

Still, I would entertain the thought of doing it again because I work out like a maniac and fat is STUBBORN.
