    Default Ugly Without Make-up

Anyone here feels like they are so pretty and beautilful when they have on make-up. But when wearing no make up you feel pale and ugly??

I have that problem. I feel so pretty and and feel good about myslef when I have on make up. But when it's off I feel so ugly. I wear make up on my eyes, brows, lips, and foundation to cover my flaws and I don't like the way I look without foundation. There be times I hate to spend the night at my boyfriends house because I don't wash my make up off and thats what makes me break out the next day. I don't wash it off because I look ugly and I don't want him to see me looking like that. Of course he said he loves me and he doesn't care about me with or without make-up. But still.

Anyone feels that they look ugly without make up too?

Hon, I think a lot of us have that problem... unless you are used to NOT wearing make-up....
I put on make-up yesterday for the first time in several weeks, and I couldn't stop checking myself out! LOL. I felt great!
But, a great trick for making you feel good about yourself when you take it off is to pamper yourself... when you take your shower, exfolite use a cleanser, use something that smells great or makes your skin really soft. Then get out and moisturinze your face and body. Pay special attention to your feet and hands, and remember... putting on make-up may make you feel pretty now, but taking it off and taking care of the skin under it will make you feel pretty for years to come!
    Feel good about yourself!

    Legend,

I have never seen you of course, would love to if you ever post a pic, but there is no way that just make up can make that much of a difference. Yes I know it changes things a lot but a woman's beauty is far more than make up. Your man loves you for your inside as well as your outside, he loves you for you. Lady Revlon is not who he fell in love with, it was YOU.

My wife is not perfect but she is in my eyes, make up or not. And she smells like heaven right out of the shower, no perfume or powder needed. And she loves me for some silly reason.

Ya know i did in my teens and 20's. Now that i am in my mid 30's i feel less is better. I have alot (too many, lol) pics in the gallery, and with the dark hair i went pretty much heavy on the makeup. But now being blonde again, i can't i look like a clown. I put 2 pictures in uploads last night, and i only have on a peach (very light lip stick) and a slight brown liner around eyes, thats it. No foundation, blush etc. I think as we get older we look better with less.

I agree! Lol. Without lip gloss or stick on i feel naked. Everything else at this point i don't care! Then again, if i had a bf, i would probably feel like you, and want to always look pretty for him.

Well, I wear make up all the time too because I feel confident that way!!
I feel like people won't like me as much if they don't see me as beautiful!!
Yeahhh I'm a bit freak about appearance!!
Sometimes it's only concealer and lipliner and mascara , I don't especially need a "mask" though!!

I so felt ugly without makeup in my teens. No one ever saw me without it! I was all about making sure no one knew I had freckles!!!! I would show up to get my makeup done for photos or something *with makeup on* .

After some weirdness in Seattle that changed my outlook on a few things, I felt like really taking care of myself. After taking good care of my skin and having my eyebrows done, etc... I found myself wearing less and less makeup. Now I go out without any at all, all the time! I almost put a pic up in the gallery of me with no makeup just because I felt I was having a "cute day".

Maybe you need to start a regime of weaning yourself off makeup. Eat right, take really good care of your skin, shape (and tint if necessary) your eyebrows. Start wearing shearer foundations, get down to just a bit of concealer, powder and mascara... eventually just feel good about a dab of shiney lip balm. Maybe some mascara.

    Pamper and love yourself...

Ironic that I should feel this way, being a stripper; but I feel naked without my make-up at work. Other places is a whole different ballgame.

I've got social anxiety disorder. Basically, I hate to be in public by myself. I can't look people in the eyes, I feel like everyone's looking at me, I do whatever it takes to avoid attention. No make-up, ball-caps, loose clothes...

I don't know why; but somehow stripclubs are like an alternate universe for me. I think it has something to do with the fact that I'm not alone (other dancers) and I'm not the center of attention.

It's borderline agoraphobia. (people that don't leave their homes, morbid fear of open public places) The difference is, I'm not afraid that something bad will happen to me, I just don't want to be noticed. Had this my whole life. BTW, I realize that it's not logical, or reasonable, and that it's contradicting; but as any knowledgeable doc will tell you, it's the only anxiety disorder that cannot be treated with counseling or facing your fears... only Paxil which I refuse to take.

So yes, I feel no make-up makes me less attractive; but every BF I've had tells me otherwise. I think they're full of shit. I see make-up as an art form.

    Naomi...
Yes I know what you are talking about. I had the same problem that you had about being out in public and feeling like everyone in the street is looking at you So did my friend she had the same problem too. Because everytime I'm outside public I don't be knowing where to look even when I'm in a car. I feel like everyone is looking at me and I be getting so nervous I don't be liking it, I don't know are they looking at me because there is something wrong with me or something. Are they looking because they might think I'm pretty or because I look funny. But all that was before. Some how now I don't care anymore.& yes about boyfriends be saying that they don't care about you with or without make -up. They probabably do think you aren't pretty with out make up but they love you or they do know how beautiful you are with make up so they just accept it.

I don't wear makeup much outside of work. I work the cute thing and let my hair curl. I like to air out my pores. Too many guys slow down and honk regardless in this neighborhood, so what do I care?

I like glossy lips when I go out though, and mascara. I sweat a lot when I dance, don't like smudges.

I'm with Juliette. I don't wear any make-up besides work, except for the few times I go out.

I sometimes will wear gloss and mascara. Those two things do wonders! I feel that self tanner for the face helps keep my skin tone balanced and I don't look so pale. I like the feel of clean skin with no makeup.

My fiance thinks I am prettiest in the morning, while I am sleeping. I think he is crazy! He likes me without makeup. I also think he is seeing more than what is on the outside.

If your boyfriend doesn't think you look good without makeup, he is not worth keeping around, but if you give him a chance, I'm sure he will think you are just as beautiful, if not more.

Of course my dude never said anything about me without make - up. But it's just what I think he might think of me without make-up. Because even to myself I feel ugly with out make up. I mean look at Beyonce' and all of them celebrities they all wear complete make- up and I know they probably even wear more than I do. But that's how I like to look. I know I'm not famous and dont need no photo shoot everyday or whatever but I still like to look good and feel good. I only feel good when I look good and that is with make up. And yes I have seen them celebrities without make up and they aren't cute without it either. But that's just life. AT least you have make up right. What would I be without it...

Legend - this sounds very much like a self image issue. It sounds like you are hiding behind the make-up and don't want to face your true self.

Before dancing, I hardly wore any make-up at all. I have been a tomboy for the majority of my life so make-up was a foreign thing to me. I seriously had to learn how to apply lipstick and eye shadow etc for nearly the first time when I started dancing.

When at work I wear make-up. When not at work - I do not. I am actually the opposite of you Legend - I feel better without it than with it on. I feel so clogged having make-up on so I am a minimal-ist in regards to it.

At work: foundation, eye shadow and liner, lip stick. I don't need to use mascara as I was given nice lashes and I don't like to use blush (I don't feel I need to).

Outside of work I will most likely use just lip gloss just to keep my lips moisturised and healthy.

I learnt a long time ago that if I look after my skin (pamper it thru exfoliation, toner, moisturiser etc) that my natural beauty will shine thru... which it does. I like a natural look rather than "a second face" type of look.

Then again, outside of work I don't dress to impress (unless I have to) as I don't need to be the centre of attention. Only at work do I need to grab attention.

I have blotchy toned skin, with some scarring from previous acne, etc., so I pretty much always wear a light foundation to even out my skin tone, but that's the only product I use daily. Of course, I pack on the stage makeup when I'm working, but I actually feel self-conscious about the makeup when I leave the club between shows. Funny thing is that my bf took me for dinner between shows last week, and he was so impressed with the makeup, thought I looked amazing. Now I wonder if I really should make more of an effort day to day?

I think all of us look better in make up and most guys will attest to that. I know mine will. But our faces need to at least breathe while we sleep.

Our guys don't look as good when they just wake up either, so we come out even LOL.

yup I feel all this - but I just smile in the morning sans make up and try to be sweet and thats all I got so thats what I put out there.

I used to be really anxious about that - now I just let it go - I cant MAKE you think I look good, but I can feel good if I choose to and you might like that...know what I mean?

You can only do what you can do - so I clean it off and smile, besides its so much cleaner and better for your skin and your sheets!!!

Not only that but what if he is thinking YUK she doesnt wash before bed??? Thats worse I think!!

A positive side to the no/minimal makeup look - time to get ready and out of the house is greatly reduced
My ex used to say that one of the things he loved most about me is that I could be ready to go in 5 mins, his previous girlfriends used to need an hour to get ready just to run to the store for milk...lol.

Well, I am also afraid of being in public places because I think everyone is staring at me (they are I swear!). I have been battling this for a long time also. Sometimes I like the attention, but very rarely do I like people looking at me. I hate it when my face has blemishes on it. Sometimes I tell them not to look at me. There are other times when I feel like I am glowing even if I have blemishes on my face. I guess I need to just realize that it doesn't really matter. I just need to remember that I AM beautiful!

Firts of all, LOVE yourself without make up too, have a nice attitude to your own body and face, take care of yourself as you always do, get a massage, use rich creams and stuff, i am sure you already know that.
i am into make up too, can't spend a day with no makeup on, but when i am not wearing a make up the only change people see is a style, i wear glasses and just curl my lashes use some chapstik, that is it! There are no women who can be ugly, all women are pretty, if they feel pretty and love themselves. So just relax, give your skin a little break once in a while, you will feel even prettier!

I honestly like the way I look with no make up and would go to work at times without it. (ok just mascara) and I cant tell you how many guys would tell me they liked it. Most of my boyfriends have always preferred me to forgoe the make up when I was with them, but then there is no denying how sexy

Honestly it's not just about looking as good as a celebrity. I really look Ugly with out make up. I can't go and try to deny what's real. I seen britney spears pamela anderson and the list goes on. They are ugly without make up too. Sorry didn't have to say it like that. But it's true, we chose to use make up to begin with and now we need it. It's an addiction. Because you see how pretty you are with make up that now it took the color off your skin once you used it for a while already. So now when you don't have make up on, your just pale and look pale. Exscuse me I mean me and britney.

I guess it just depends on your definition of "ugly". I have seen Pamela Anderson and Britney Spears without makeup and I don't think they are ugly, they look real. I also don't think I am ugly without makeup, or most girls for that matter. Our own Pamela posted pics of herself without makeup and she is very beautiful as well.

I used to feel ugly without makeup. I don't know what happened, maybe I grew out of it. In the last several years I actually feel better most of the time without it. I hardly wear makeup anymore outside of work, unless I'm going out for something special, and even then I keep it minimal.

I think it's self-confidence. Really look at yourself in the mirror. See that you're not an ugly dog. If you wear makeup all the time, whatever you're doing - stop. Start doing things like running errands without the makeup, or at least with only concealer and lipgloss, maybe light eyeliner. Right now you're probably used to wearing makeup all the time, and the sight of yourself without it makes you uncomfortable because you're not used to it. If you start getting yourself used to not wearing it sometimes, you gradually get more comfortable with the plainer look, and it gets easier to go without makeup....and your skin will thank you for it too!
