There are a few mascaras on the market now that have cellulose fibers embedded in the formulation to lengthen lashes. The product I have called Fairy Lash is 100% cellulose is the most effective. I just coat it on any mascara I have until I'm satisfied with the length. I don't know where they would sell it but its manufactured by

Ooops I just read the thread again and realized its not about mascara. I'm interested too! If only there was a way to transplant hair onto the eyelash bed.

Lots of salons seem to be offering this and from what I've read they say results last for 10 day to a month. Prices I saw were pretty reasonable.

The method seems to be similar to the false eyelash method wherin one uses the individual lashes and the clear adhesive labeled for them and you place the false lash on the hair rather than the skin. It looks like, as opposed to the knotted "individulal" lashes (which are usually a little burst of hairs) these are truely individual hairs.

    Cool evolution of an idea!

The add for the lashes says, They fasten to your own lashes, and are retained to your own lases with water resistant special adhesive on your own lashes. They stay on through showers, swimming, even saunas.

Sorry, that is what i can read. I took German, (kinda sloppy, but enough to read most.) and they are not implanted, they are strong, and made to wear with an adhesive that is very tough. Removable, yes. Dauerwimpern means continuous lashes.

How can you find out where they're done? Does every state do them, and what is the approximate cost?

I've seen prices in the US run from $10-35 with the service being performed in mostly major markets. In other words, places like lovely Reno, NV don't have them yet (but probably will soon when I tell my salon owner friend about it).

I did a quick search and found salons all over the US (and everywhere else for that matter) listing it in their services.

    Damn, I'm all interested now!

I just searched Google for variations on the term "eyelash extensions". It came up all over the place in salon service menus. I was blown away by that $60 number in the one listing I found, though.

In light of all this, I got my salon friend interested in learning this and she has since found a class. Oh yeah... Reno is so cutting edge heheh... I'll just be happy when she learns threading (Renova and waxing issues and all that; gotta keep the eyebrows perfect ).

I'm not sure if it may be eyelash transplants that Noa is referring to. That is a procedure that is done by taking hair from the base of your neck and is transplanted into your top lid. The eyelashes grow much longer that they actually need to be trimmed. It is permanent.
A girl I work with brought them up to me about a year ago in efforts to get a surgery buddy, and from what I recall in NY they ran about $3000(if memory serves me correctly)

Well the pic she's showing is from the German lash extensions site.

But now you've made me curious. It would seem that actual implants would be geared more toward those folks with an OCD causing them to pull their own lashes out. Wow... wonders of the modern world! Would they look as natural? Complications? Wow! And here I used to get queasy about eyelash *tinting* lol!

(I am a product and salon service whore, btw... so off to research I go)

they have it all over the place...usually in nailsalons!!!! you should not pay more then $35!!!!!! you can also buy a starter case yourself and do this yourself... you attache tiny pieces of hair to your lashes one at the time with some kind of glue/rubber and it gives you wonderfull full and long lashes. it will stay on for about 3 weeks but you can easily put them back on yourself! you can shower, swim, sport do almost anything with these...

    Oh, very nice Noa!!!

So the girl at my salon is learning it. They'll be the only game in town and they wanted to price it at $50 !!! :o I blinked at her in disbelief! I mean, I've had the lash to lash long term falsies for fashion shows (those ones that are a couple of hairs knotted together) and left them on for a while with no problem. This seems to be just a more sophisticated version of that so $50 is outrageous! I'm gonna die when they tell me what the great length hair extensions are gonna cost!

I dance in the Detroit area, so I found a make-up artist that does them for about $35 and they look very nice and eliminate the need for a lot of eyemake-up and mascara. He uses the indivudual lashes and glues them on one by one like someone described in an earlier post. It takes a little while, and my eyes tear up something awful, but it looks great when it's done. I am blonde, so I get a little bit of a Pam Anderson look. Kind of cool once in a while.

I have also endeavored to put these little lashes on myself and I would much rather pay someone else to do it. It's a headache standing in front of the mirror with tweezers, glue, and little bunches of lashes. I always mess it up and the glue gets all over, but for girls more dextrous than me, you can buy Ardell individual lashes somewhere that sells make-up and do it yourself.
    Good luck!
