Default Man on the floor!  Nail polish question...

Xmarx looks around nervously waiting for the House Mother to throw him out of the girls dorm...

Seriously ladies I have a question about nail polish.

I LOVE red nail polish. To me firetruck red nails are just a classic and nothing is hotter or classier.

My wife does not agree, she always asks me my opinion when she is picking out polish and I always say RED and she will never buy it. She tells me I am hopelessly out of touch and that red is out of style.

Do you agree with that? Now keep in mind she is a very pretty lady but not a dancer. So think of this more as what you might wear for a night out on the town rather than what you would wear to work.

    What do you think?

bet if you paid for a manicure and pedicure, drove her there and sat patiently by her side being charming, she would agree to red for a weekend..
or if you brought a bottle of a pricey brand(so she wont think its cheap if its Chanel),and offered to do her nails while she watches her favorite show, but also bring remover and cotton balls, and said you will take it off if she doesnt like it, or to just keep it for a few hours...
the key to asking a woman to dress or makeup a certain way cuz it turns you on(when there is no money involved)is to do it for them and be appreciative.i had one boyfriend who liked a certain thing, and he had prepared..dressed me, etc..or set eveything out sweetly in the bathroom with a glass of wine, and would busy himself lighting candles and putting on my favorite music, so i would go to take a pee, find what he hoped i might put on, then i could hear him being romantic with the candles so i would submit willingly..
let her have her own colors for her own time, but im sure you can get her to play dress up for you..
or,even easier and cheesier would be to put red Lee PressOn Nails over her own color, using just the stickytape provided..
now what are you going to do for her????

Sometimes I'll wear a dark red. Like maroon, but I usually go with a french. To me a french is classy. I personally don't like the look of bright red. Too me it looks cheap. Like a hooker. But then again I have acrylic nails, it might look ok on someone with real short nails.

I'm with Trixie, I like red, but not bright red. I can't describe the difference, but I know it when I see it.

Red is difficult because it's so bright and noticable. I prefer French Manicure because it won't clash with any color outfit I might wear. Plus, most women tend to wear lighter shades in the summertime. She might try red in the fall or winter when darker stuff is more fashionable.

yeah, light shades in the summer, darker in the summer, but never dark colors on long nails....EVER!

I wear red a lot, but hardly ever on my toes since I bang them around so much

and since I'm on the topic, no blacklight-glow french manicures. Yuck. it looks halloweenish when the girl is up on stage.

Thanks so much ladies for giving me some great answers. And also thanks for not flaming me for being a bit off topic. It is just that I know there is nobody who knows more about what is sexy and stylish than you ladies. I have seen the gallery.

And I loved the comment Girlygirl made about what am I doing for her. I am pretty good about that. Once I bought her about ten-12 cards and 6 bunches of flowers, from carnations to red roses. I left the first card where she could find it, which had a clue to look in the closet for the next one, which had another clue to look in the bedroom, the bath tub, another closet, and so on and so on till she came to the red roses.

I thought that was one of my best.

But then my wife is a doll, 8 years younger than me, great shape, pretty, thoughtful, very hard worker, green eyes, reddish brown hair... and she treats me like a King. I am a very lucky man.

Thanks again for the help ladies.

And I thought I was the only one that thought that blacklight glow stuff looked weird.

I love my french manicure, but you ladies who said it looked weird under the blacklights are right, what can you do though?
I would no have time to paint my nails everyday.

Some kinds don't glow, it just depends on what the people at your salon use. I've never had a French manicure that glowed, but I see other girls with it all the time. I think it depends on what kind of acrylic powder is used.

The French manicures glow because of the topcoat that is supposed to keep light polishes from yellowing (there might be a type of acrylic too, but I've never seen or heard of it). If I were you, I'd hit the local beauty supply store and find a good topcoat to bring with me to the nail salon. If you are a neurotic like me, you might even have a handheld battery blacklight (used to shop for costumes). The glowy stuff glows in the bottle under that light.

A caveat though, if you use a tanning bed, there is a good chance you'll turn your nails yellowish without that topcoat. I've actually seen little nail covers for that purpose sold with tanning bed supplies.

In regard to red ails... yum... Love it on shorter nails but only when my skin is a little pale. Revlon Red is my standard: bright red but somehow perfect with my colouring. Looks GREAT on my toes

There was a (probably totally informal) study done that I see repeated every now and then that while European men love dark/red nails and lips, it is a turn-off to American men!! I guess that means that our chap xmarx is of the classy old world variety!
