    Go here:

I'm 5'3" and 115 pounds. I entered in my info and it appears that I'm of normal weight. You are too.

You don't want to get too thin because that's unhealthy - overweight is unhealthy too.

If you've got some "trouble spots", try doing a little more exercise.... but remember -- muscle weighs more then fat.

    Take care,

    Nikki

I'm confused. I did the BMI thing on that site and I am 5'0 and 115lbs. The thing said I was "normal." Perhaps I have a jaded stripper weight/obsession, because I always thought I had a lil extra meat for a dancer. I have had big natural boobs and a natural curvy figure since I was 13. Genetics. 36-27-37. My stomach is pretty flat, but my hips, upper arms and thighs could use some slimming down. All the other dancers I work with are toothpicks. It makes me crazy and often depresssed sometimes. It is so difficult for me to lose this weight. I want to maintain my natural curves and boobs but I'd really like to slim down the look of my frame. It is odd though. In my classes at school, I am the smallest girl there (height and weight-wise) but at the club, I am one of the heavier dancers! I'd kill to lose this weight and show a few of the girls I work with who look down on me for being one of the "chubby dancers" at 115lbs. Wierd. What a skewed point of view us dancers can have. Am I wrong though? This is difficult for me to ask this but is it wierd to feel of a normal healthy weight compared to everyday people (in class, at the store, etc) but chunky at the club I work at, at the same time?

Oh, yes. I know this well.

I've gained some weight and lost some muscle lately, and I'm tall so weight really does look bad on me. But in real life people still tell me they admire how thin I am, "oh, your so tall and slim, you should be a model" and I'm like WTF? I am FAT! There are clubs that wouldn't even hire me being this fat and you think I should be a model!

But, I also know that my weight appeals to a lot of older men (the kind with money :-)) and that my sanity and lack of bullshit also means a lot in the clubs. All in all, I feel just as good about myself as when I was younger and tighter and made better money.

    Kaila,

You forget the main reason that the other dancers are toothpicks is they usually have a drug problem behind it. i.e. Meth or Coke.

So don't worry about your figure as it's normal, and healthy.

If your really concerned go to a gym and get on a High Cardio/ Tone work out program. Just don't be suprised if your leaner, but weigh more as muscle weighs mor than fat.

It's hard to tell if someone is overweight just by a height/weight description. Take me for example, I'm 5'6" 140lbs. Sounds like alot, but I can't think of a time ever when even the biggest asshole or anybody 'critiquing' me as ever said I was chunky. You can see in my pics that I'm no twig, but I don't think anyone in their right mind would call me fat. You have to take into consideration what your bone structure, and your muscle to fat ratio is. Like me, most would guess that I weigh in the 120's, but I have very muscular thighs and calves so I'm actually much heavier.

Everyone is their own worst critic, so if the people who know you think you look good maybe you should just listen to them.

I wouldn't consider that over weight at all ! I am 5'4 and was a professional ballet dancer from 16-20 and when I was in top form for a ballet dancer( not too thin- I had been down to 100 before, SCARY skinny) and had lots of muscle and I was 107-110- and you surely know that ballet dancers are expected to look anorexic- and I did too when under 110.
Before getting pregnant and retiring from exotic dancing, I weighed between 115-125 and I was never not hired anywhere- including top clubs like Scores and The Men's Club

So going by that you sound just fine to me, a very healthy weight in fact.

I think if you look confident that's what matters
If you feel you need to get in shape, still look confident and shake that a$$. That's what I've been doing! It works! I also excersize at home. (sittups, leg kicks, stretching, etc.) [wave]
It takes both rain and sunshine to make a rainbow.........

well it would depend on your body composition; i.e. your muscle to fat ratio. one pound of muscle is one third the size of one pound of fat. so--if you have good muscle tone you will obviously appear MUCH tighter even if you weigh more. dont go by the scale- go by how you look in the mirror.

Carmen is right. Weighing myself is depressing, so I haven't done it in 2 years. I weigh a lot for my height, but I also have a lot of muscle. I like to get my body fat% taken at the gym every once in awhile. That can be inaccurate a lot, but it makes me feel better than the scale. I also go by how my clothes fit. BTW, 5'2" and 111 lbs. does not even come close to being overweight.

    I'm 5'7 (1M73) and weigh 138 pounds and I'm not considerded fat.
BUT I'm quite muscular and work on gaining muscle weight sooo
And I saw a girl on this board who is also a bodybuilder and I'm sure if you see her stats without the picture next to it you'll think: GOSH she must be fat. But she looks amazing and does not have more than 10% fat IMO.
Weight is only a number, you should see yourself in the mirror and say: ok I have to improve that area, I need to trim down etc.....
Remember one thing: Muscle weighs more than FAT!!

I'm 5'2" and weigh 125= nobody ever believes me when I say this, even my sis-in-law (whose overly weight conscious) said well then, you must carry your weight well! Which is true, it doesn't really matter what number you are (unless it's one of the extremes underweight or over) what matters is how you present yourself. Just my opinion
