    Default Flat irons.

Well I have a regular ceramic straightener that I've had a couple of years now, tried my friends ionic straighter yesterday and WOW. Works much much better. I'm going to purchase it today.

It was mentioned in the Japanese straightening thread, and got me curious.

My friends is the chi version, I think?

Ok, now I'm confused, I have a Ferouk Chi and although it's the bomb as far as flat plate's go, I didn't think it was an Ionic iron. From what I read, the chi is billed as using positive ion's to do it's thing. While anything I've read about ionic straightener's, says that they employ negative ion's to work there magic.

I would really like to know if there is a difference, I paid over $100 for the chi and I'm getting ready to buy an ionic Iron to the tune of $400. I would expect there to be a considerable difference in there performance .... Would I be wrong ??

Crazybob, I noticed quite a difference. But my hair is already straight and I really can't justify dropping $400 for an iron when I just bought a ceramic one 2 months ago. Maybe you could go to a salon that offers the Bio Ionic straigtening and just have them flat iron your hair with the "ionic retexturizing iron". That way you can see if there is a significant difference for YOU.

    Default conair ion shine

I just bought the conaire ion shine hair dryer. It is supposed to reduce hair friziness and make the hair more shiny. It works on the principle that a cloud of -ve ions can neutralize +ve charge on frizzy hair, eliminate static electricity, remove dulling particles in the air, contributes to shine. The good thing about it is that it doesn't make much noise. I haven't really used it to see if it works yet.

well please let us know how you like it when you do use it. I'm curious if you notice any difference from your regular hair dryer.

I just tried the dryer. I have dark straight hair so it would be harder to tell the difference on me than someone with frizzy blond hair. I noticed my hair was smoother and shiner but on me, nobody would notice unless they were closer to me. I find silicone sprays work well for me if I want really glossy shine. I also rinse my hair in cold water after I finish shampooing.

I saw the ion hair dryer today, didn't purchase it though.
It was made by a different company.

I'm sure some manufactures will try to generate sales for their hair products by inserting the word ion in their product description. Be leery.

    Angelina,
Try the flat iron, you'll love it, people will be able to tell from far away and up close!!

I use the Conair Ion Shine hair dryer and I have frizzy thick blond hair. I definitely notice the difference. My hair is so soft and I don't have to use a flat iron to straighten it anymore unless I'm going for the super sleek look. Walmart- $20.

i got a straightening iron called Futura. it works SO well on my hair, which dries annoyingly kinky. the Futura gets really hot and straightens the hair really fast. it does an awesome job though. however it will damage your hair if you overuse it, like anything i guess. but it is by far the best iron i have used. and i have tried alot. if anyone wants the # to order one i can look on the back of the iron.

If your hair is thick FHI trumps them all. I've got 5 or 6 different high end irons and it's the only thing that leaves my hair silky straight.

I know GHD gets raves, but mine sorta gets the big kinks out, but doesn't even touch frizz. Leaves me with a head of somewhat straight, insanely frizzy hair. Think the before makeover girl on Princess Diaries.
