    Default Eye surgery, answers please

I think this was mentioned some time ago, i could not find it.

I am seriously thinking about having my lower lids done. They are puffy, and does not go away much anymore. I am tired of looking tired.

My upper lids are fine. If any of you have had this procedure done, please tell me about recovery time, pain, swelling, bruises if any. Anything.

Will i be able to walk around ? see ? i can take 2 weeks off work, so i really want this, but i am scared. I never had surgery other than oral. I have found a good Plastic surgeon already and had a consultation. It just is not enough information for me yet.

    Thanks,
    Pamela

Pam I am interested in possibly getting this done also,I have not so much bags just very dark circles and I saw them give a girl on that new plastic surgery show on tv the procedure,I think we may be to young,I can tell you what you can try that works well is photo facial ipl its the same machine they use for hair removal and they use it to make your skin look younger, what it does is makes your skin produce more collagen toning and tightening the skin it also helps well w/ dark circles and toning the eyes and its less expensive and drastic than eye surgery, there no down time, its not cheap, over here its 1000 for 5-6 sessions,if you want more info pam let me know.

Michele is this something that you have to have alot of procedures with. Never heard of it. What does it do around the eyes ? Is it like a machine that just works facial muscles ?
Think i may need surgery, i don't have dark circles. But puffy eyes that don't really go away no matter what i do. All of a sudden came. Well not that fast, but i am 33.

    Let me know more.

Pam its simmilar to laser but its pulsed light, you need 5 or 6 tratments and it will improve your skin texture and smooth wrinkles ect,its worth a try before drastic surgery, find a place by you that offers it and get a consutation and see what they say about how it will help you,its called photo facial ipl,I pay like 1200 for 5 or 6 treatments.

    Hey Pamela,

I have never mentioned this before, but I have been getting botox treatments since last December. Before I moved to LA, I pretty much just got them for the area btw my eyes. But my new dermatologist is really educated on this subject. She did me all over my forehead and even around my eyes. I tend to get dark under my eyes and have a couple of lines but nothing drastic. All it took was a couple of injections under the brow and it helps lift the eye area up just a tad. This in turn will smooth out the area under the eye and help whatever problem you are having; whether it be bags, slight lines or darkness.

You don't need a consultation and it is cheaper than laser. Just look around. Here in Santa Monica, which is the beach city in W. Los Angles, dermatologists will charge as much as $1000, but I looked around and my derm, who is young and understanding and is always going to symposiums, charges $400.

You are a good candidate for laser because of your fair skin. Olive, even light olive people like me, are kind of a risk for discoloration.

There are plenty of options available.

    Cheers,

    Corey

I'm scheduled for a lower lid job at the end of the month.I don't have big puffs, just really subtle ones but I thought I'll correct it before I get old.The doc said it isn't a major operation and it won't take long to recover.

p.s . I don't think you will need 2 weeks off. 1 week at most.

Thanks again ladies. I think i would like the operation to remove fatty pockets under the eyes. They have bothered me for years. All my friends say what puffy eyes, but i see them.

I have no frown lines (thank goodness) or wrinkles...Yet. But my eyes are a little puffy all the time now. So, i will be doing what Angelina is probably having done. Blepharoplasty.

    I'm just scared! OUCH.

Im sure you'll be fine!! If that's what's going to make YOU happy, then I say do it!!

I had my upper lids done a few yrs. ago, and I love it!! I've always had that "extra skin" over my lids so.. A lot of times it can be genetic..

Corry,I have heard that getting botox can cause more wrinkles because the other areas of your face that arent paralized have to work harder for movement,I have read several articles about this now, ask your surgeon if this is true,I was thinking about getting it in my forehead but dont want to end up w/wrinkles else were pluss I dont like how its not permanent, maybe we should start a thread on peoples results w/botox.

    Hey Michele,

The only way or place you would get wrinkles from botox is perhaps your smile lines. It's not that you would get more wrinkles, there might be chance that they would possibly get more defined.

When I first had it done last year, I only got the little line btw my eyes done. I didn't notice any wrinkling or lining elsewhere. My new derm did sort of a standard "all around on the upper facial area"procedure. I am so amazingly happy with her methoad I am 34 and I have been guessed as young as 22 when it has taken full effect.

Also, the more you have it done, the effects will start to last longer. I can go about five months now. I am really happy with it.

I would probably check out the laser procedure, but I think I am too olive. I hear it works best on fair skinned people.

    Cheers,

Cory,I saw your picture in the gallery and you are very pretty and you do look young,I never saw you before the botox but Iam sure you still looked young, some people get a surprised look when they get botox, you dont have that,I was thinking about getting it for my forehead thats were I have the most lines,I dont have any around my eyes because Ihave always worn sunglasses ,even when its not sunny,so I never squint,I do have dark eye circles though,I will let you know if I try it.

    Michelle,

Thanks for the compliments. I have two headshots up: one pre-botox (my first one), the other post ( the one in the halter top). The first one was taken about three years ago.

If you get a detailed derm, it is kind of painful. My derm used a numbing cream that she had me put on about 25 minutes before my last session. It made a huge difference as far as pain is concerned.

Also, about that comment I received that someone said I looked 22. It's not like that happens a lot But when I have it done, I do get guessed younger, even if it's just slightly and even better, I don't have a stressed, tired look.

Let me know how it works out if you do it.

    Cheers,

I had upper bleph in March and i only had the stitches out after a week so 2 weeks at least - preferably 3, depending on your recovery rate. I like to take things easy so that's what I did, esp as I am also a flight attendant - didn't want anything exploding at altitude!

Thanks NiKi! I am going (maybe) this winter to have my bottom lids done. Or early spring. I worry about recovery rate. Don't want my eyes to swell shut. I would freak! But only the bottoms are getting done, so i hope not. I do recover quickly from trauma to the skin, so heres to hope!

Thanks alot pam, you got me thinking maybe I need this done too,I have been siting in front of the mirror on a daily basis pulling my top and bottom lids back,I went today to the doctor who did my nose and breasts and its going to cost 4250 for both, now I think its adventageous to do both since its like 3000 just for one or the other, then oyu only have to recover once and pay a one time hospital fee,I dont really think I need both but hell in 5 years I may , nicki, now how much of a result did you really see?I dont want just a suttle change I want a big change, granted I dont want cat eyes( check out laura flynn boyle) I would like feed back from everyone whos had this about how much of a change theres been and if you dont mind how old you are Iam 34 in november and thought I may be too young but I guess you are never too young to look the best you want to look.

Michele i am your age too. This eye thing has been bothering me now for a few years though.

I wake up and they stay pretty much puffy all day now, so i think i do have (like the P.S. said fat deposits that have set up shop there.

I am sooooo scared. I never thought i would do this, but i am. I read every book i could find, and talked to only a few who had this done. I think my top lids will be fine. They have tight skin. But the bottoms do not.

Makeup just does not do it for me anymore. Actually the less i wear now, less attention is drawn to them. So now i find myself playing up my lips, and down playing my eyes.

They used to be my best feature i thought.

If you go before me, please let me know. I plan on this fall or spring. But i a scared.

Pamella, how much is your surgery going to cost? What are good web sites w/ good before and after pics?My doctor said its not loose skin on the tops ,but the fat bulging out or pushing out,I have been thinking I was looking buggy eyed lately but really wasnt sure what it wasI wasnt even sure he wouls say I needed eye surgery,I just wonder if I will be happy after or will I find other things to do, like my forehed laugh lines,I am never happy, first it was my lips then my nose then my boobs, something I said I would never do,I think I have some kind of disorder,I will keep you updated.

For before and after pics. do a google search. I went to the library and read books about it.
Yes, i was told the same thing actually, fatty deposits, but that does stretch the skin.

Lol, i doubt you have some disorder! we all want to be pretty. If you had spent many many thousands and had everything done many times over that could be a disorder perhaps. I read about that, strange stuff.

I am like you, but the boob dept. is fine. I hate my lips, eyes and hair at this time however.

I am getting only the bottoms done, under a local, which is cheaper too. The cost will be just a tad over 3,000.

    Worth it for me.

Pam, I went on some sites today and some of the things they say are scary about permanant vision problems after, the eyelid not closing completley and on the bottoms the eyelids permanantly pulling down, yikes,Ialready have dry eyes all the time and I have excellent vision, thats just scary when you mess w/ something so sensitive and precious,if my vision got messed up I would never be the same,I will keep you updated on what I do,good luck,Iam actually going to go look at more before and after pictures.

Damn Michele i myself have been diagnosed with "dry eye syndrome" and have to use refresh tears during the day a few times, and at night before bed Genteal cream inside the eye.
I have been taken a steroid eye drop off and on for a few months called Alfrex. But not to use much or in 10 years i will have cataracts. YUK.

Yes, dry eye people have to be careful they say when under going this surgery.

Our best bet, shop around...Big time. I have a plastic surgeon in mind, but she is not the only one who i will consult with.

Does a Dermotologist do eyes ? I did not ask mine, as i am on Retin A off and on. (i know, but i keep running out and forget to refill.)

Keep me posted in pm's or any info. to share with others here. A few have pm'd me about this, so i thought it proper to write here. I wish i had answers, i don't. Except it sounds scarey, i don't want my eyes swollen shut. Michele....Do what i do, try to focus on the positive like i am. This will be my first surgery. Yikes!

    Default Eye surgery, answers please

    Hey Pamela and Michelle,

Here is a great informative website, http://www.faceforum.com/

I researched this site and read links for months before I got botox for the first time. I have been researching lower blephs as well. It is sort of scary to me and I have had problems adjusting to the dark since my mid-twenties.

However, checked it out! Very cool stuff on there.

    Cheers,

    Corey
