    Default Tanning and your 'mustache'

Embarrassingly so, when I tan, the area above the lipline gets tanner than my face! I end up with a dark mustache line that looks like an upside down 'V'

Does anyone else have this problem? I mean it's literally darker spotting!!

You think Retin-A might help in that area?

whoa. I didn't know about this. thank you for the important information. I will seach on this. however, I am not taking any oral contraceptives or am I prenant.
I'll now have to read about estrogen levels.

I'm also taking meds for seizures, tegratol. It does warn about sunning although it doesn't tell you NOT to enjoy the sun.

    Again, thank you.

I have the same problem, but I look so pale if I avoid the sun. I've used prescription lotions in the past that worked quite well, but again, I basically had to avoid all sun.

For me, the Vita-K Solution lotion has helped me a lot. I can still get a healthy dose of sun so I'm not so pale, but it really keeps the "mustache" and the darker pigmentation from forming. I've just started this regime so I'll keep you posted to how successful it really is in the long run.

I do like the fact that it isn't acidic and doesn't irritate my skin. Hope this helps!

I get this too - pigment that goes awry especially on the face - and anywhere else it would look like crazy ass irregular freckles but above the lip? Ah yes real nice, a mustache!!! GRRR!

If you use the retin A and still tan? you destroy the skin and can cause irrepairable damage. You cant tan and use any acids whether vitamin A or retinol or glycolic - etc you have to choose one over the other but not both regardless of sunscreen.

Stop tanning your face - if you use fake n bake (sun salons) then cover your face with the towel provided by the salon in addition to a super high sunscreen on your face.
Then supplement your tan with fake tan lotion on your face to match the tan your body has.

You win in so many ways doing this - especially reducing sun damage on your face - and early wrinkling!!

ANyway be careful - its dangerous - the pursuit of beauty!
