    Default laser hair removal

Has anybody had laser done for hair removal? If so, what was it like? :-/
I live in the in the Los Angeles Area and I wanted to get it done but I don't know where to go and I'm a little chicken about getting it done. So any info on it would be helpful. Thank You in advance for you comments.

I've had it and I have to tell you it is not totally permanent removal-it is permanent REDUCTION-you will likely get some regrowth-it is also very expensive in NY-it is not terribly painful-make sure you goto a reputable place in a major city to have it done
    guess who's back? back again

I've had my whole kitty and under my arms done. I love it. I've had 2 treatments on both areas. I had my first treatment back in March and another just a month ago. All the hairs under my arms are gone. My kitty is completely bald except for a few sprigs here and there. It's so nice to not have any razor burn. So smooth! You should plan to have at least 3 treatments done on each area you want treated in order to get rid of ALL hairs.

If you have a tan, you'll have to wait till it's gone. The GentleLASE is for those with light skin or Caucasians. If you have dark skin you should find somebody that has the GentleYAG or you can do skin bleaching. The hair also has to be dark. No blonde. They do make some stuff now that adds melanin to the hair so that you can have blonde hair treated too. You have to start applying it about 14 days before each treatment.

The procedure itself can vary as far as pain goes. It hurt underneath my arms pretty bad. Felt like I was being electrocuted. My bikini like wasn't as bad though, but still painful. You can purchase Ela-max from the pharmacy which is a topical anesthetic. If you start applying it about 45 minutes before you have it done it's supposed to help. I also used ice backs to numb the area just a few minutes before they did the area. And one other thing I did on my last treatment, I drank a little before I went. It helped a lot more than the anesthetic or the ice!

On my next treatment I have to get rid of the few sprigs on my bikini line and I'm having my legs done. But I'm waiting till the tan on my legs is gone.

As for pricing, I'm not sure. I had mine done as a gift.

How funny! I actually went in today for laser hair removal. My experience has been different from VA_Girl's. My underarms didn't hurt at all but the bikini area is very painful. I took a Darvocet before going *and* she was icing me and it still HURT!! I got home 5 hours ago and am still sore. Today it cost $250. In the past I've done bikini with labia and it was $400.

Ya I heard about discoloration too. My mom had it done as well on like 3 hairs though. She was telling me what the lady told her when she went in (my mom asks a bunch of questions anywhere she goes, probably where I get it from lol). The lady said that they hadn't completely mastered lasic hair removal. She told me a HORROR STORY about a Spanish girl ( half white too) who had it done and her skin around the hair turned dark, as in black. So her whole bikini area was dark and ugly. She said she could never wear a bikini bottom again. So that story made me a little queezy about getting it done. So don't be too vain trying to get it all because it might not work out. But for those who get awesome results Kudos to u!!

    Hey "SheD",

Thank you ever so much for your story I am half Spanish and half white and I had been debating getting my chin and upper lip done. I had enough trouble with electrolysis

I think I'll just stick w/ my tweezers and nice brightly lit make-up mirror

    Cheers,

Your welcome Corey! Glad that I could help. I didn't want my story coming off negative BUT I think people should know the pro's and con's of stuff like this, I wouldn't want to hear a horror story from one of these beautiful ladies here on stripper web knowing that I could've helped with some input before she had it done. Ya I think I'll stick to my tweezer's (even though I'm trigger happy with em' :-/!! lol) for at least a few more years!
